Publisher's Summary

The Broken trilogy continues here....

Bullets fly during a dangerous mission, and Major Mark Lopez is critically injured....

A Blackstone soldier, Mark is transferred to the North Dakota hospital with the security clearance to treat members of the elite covert team.

The pretty new nurse assigned to his case knows her stuff, but Mark soon discovers she knows more than just how to save lives. Mia Harper knows the Blackstone Code.

Mia is a bit of gypsy and doesn’t engage much with people - but there’s something about her mysterious new patient....

After Mark recovers from surgery, he is discharged from the hospital with orders to rest; not that he does. Instead, he rushes to Mexico for the team’s next assignment. But when he returns to the hospital again and again with minor - and not-so-minor - injuries, Mia suspects he’s only coming to see her.

Romance ignites, and because Mia signed a nondisclosure agreement at the hospital, Mark is able to open up more with Mia than any other woman.

Some debts demand payment in either cash or blood....

When someone from Mark’s past comes to him for help, old secrets start to resurface, and more blood is shed. Worlds collide, and lies are exposed in an all-or-nothing underground poker game.

Mark must put his life on the line to keep Mia safe...and to finally learn the answer to the question that’s haunted him his whole life.

What really happened that night 25 years ago?

Love books, cringe at her kermit the frog voice!

love the books! the Broken series to Honor is a great fun read! Although...her kermit the frog voice for the men is cringe worthy! I anxiously wait for Mark to speak! It ruins the story slow and nosey! think twice next time afraid to purchase next!

Narrator

Did not like the female narrator’s male voice. I liked the story, but it isn’t one of my favorites.

military romance

I loved the story of Mia and Mark. She was a nurse at the hospital that Mark was taken to when he was injured in a secret op. They had huge chemistry from the start. They also both had big secrets that could threaten a happy life together. There is action and danger and a bit of sadness. I adored Grace Grant, and nobody does a damaged man/child, like Joe Arden! So good!!!

Honor among men

Honor is the word, This team tackles (sometimes literally) the bad guys other won't or can't. The men will do whatever it takes despite the danger. During one of these situations, Mark ends up in the hospital and is well cared for by Nuse Mia. Mia isn't only doing her duty as a regular nurse, surgical nurse, she has a special patient besides Mark.

Mark's humor brightens those around him and belies his terrifying early years. His interest in Mia is new. He doesn't want a woman to have to continually say goodbye not knowing if he'll come home. Still, this is one woan he just can't resist. The team has a special bond, Accepting Mia into their circle is special.

The personal problems of these guys become the problem of them all and they share their time to solve it. The romance is steamy and sweet. Their relationship is what they both need, yet these two don't share their history easily. Can they come together and learn to share with the other,

I read this book out of order and had no problem getting the relationships of these wonderful characters. I have gone back to get the rest of the series and look forward to reading and listening to the others,

Not horrible bit kind of underwhelming!

So overall this wasnt a horrible book, it picks up pretty close to where we left off in the broken trilogy. It had a decent plot line. The execution was just kinda boring if I'm being honest. The chemistry between the couple was also kinda lacking, I mean their foreplay and flirting would be hot but how the scenes were written were kinda awkward and I didnt even realize it was over till all the sudden they were talking. I think that happened alot, it would change scenes or days or subjects quickly and it would take me a minute to catch up with what was happening. The female narrator was absolutely horrible. Joe Arden saved it for the most part, but i cringed every time the lady took over, so bad. My biggest pet peeve is why is there a double standard for genders in romance books?! what i mean is why is it when a guy lies or makes a mistake he had to move worlds to get her forgiveness, but when a girl does the same thing the guy is a jerk for not forgiving her right away and has to go win her back? its honestly the most ridiculous thing ever. I know its appealing to have a guy fight for you, but it's not cool to make them grovel when you messed up.
I would say if you have escape package and liked the series it's worth the time, but I wouldnt waste money or a credit on this.

Good, but not great

3.5 stars. Audio. This was on KU and only $1.99 to add the Audible. I love military romance and Joe Arden & Grace Grant are favorites. I thought it was a no brainer. Mostly this ended up being just OK.

I think my major issues were:
*this was a spin off from another series (The Broken Trilogy, also on KU) and I don’t think one *has* to read/listen to that to enjoy this ~ but there seemed to be a lot of references implying the listener should already be familiar with the other stories.
*was hoping for some more military action. There were only a few “missions” and the action was relegated to a minute or two of narration time.

Overall Mark & Mia were great characters and I enjoyed their story even if parts were fairly predictable. If I’d spent a credit on this I’d have been disappointed as I doubt I’m likely to listen to it again. At $1.99 it wasn’t a bad investment though.

Worth the wait!

Continuing the stories of Shadows, had been hoping Honor would come out on Audible. Read it but this version brings it so much more to life. I love all the characters and their stories.
