Publisher's Summary

Emma is content. She's got a promising career in front of her, great friends, and a pretty amazing family. But her love life has been a little lacking lately. That's when fate steps in, and she crashes into a tall, dark, and handsome man - Teren Adams. He’s single, successful, an extraordinary gentleman, but he’s also secretive. And some of his secrets are more unusual than most people’s. For instance, he’s a "little bit" vampire. He has fangs, incredible hearing, unbelievable speed, and, on occasion, he enjoys drinking a steaming cup of blood. But he’s also very much alive. He has a heartbeat, loves steak as well as cappuccinos, and has no problems walking around during the day. Since Teren acts human the majority of the time, the pros far outweigh the cons in Emma’s book. But when it becomes apparent that Teren’s condition is much more serious than he first lets on, and that being in a relationship with him requires more sacrifices than most would be willing to make, will Emma stay? Is love enough to compensate for a life that will never be anywhere near normal? But then again...what's normal anyway?

Interesting...that's why I kept reading....

This book was very interesting. I like to see how an author views their vampire world. They are all different, and I love to see what each type of vamp can do in each series. So I was interested with this one because he is a half vamp. That was a new one to me.
It was sort of boring in the beginning, but I kept on going because I love this author from her series Thoughtless. The author was actually the reason why I even gave this book a shot.
In the end, I would say again that it was interesting. It could have been a little "dirtier" for my taste, but I'll read the next book to see what happens.

Overall: Use a credit if you've got one :)

I'm Converted

Look, this is a terrific audio book IF you are into vamps. It's clever, creative, fun, funny, emotional, witty, dramatic, scary and downright interesting. It's got a new take on the vampire world (at least to me) and the performance by Piper Goodeve is nothing short of spectacular. Acting as the sole narrator, she captures all the characters (and there are some doozies) as well as giving validity, substance and believability to the two leads (Teren and Emma). I was not a fan of Ms Stephen's Thoughtless series and did not even attempt to read beyond that first book. So I approached this series with trepidation...but it's gotten good reviews and I LOVE Ms Goodeve's narrative/performance talent. So, I dove in and am glad of it. About to start Bloodlines (book 2). I will not go into the substance/story line of the book as I'd probably spoil it AND you can read that for yourself in any synopsis. What you get from me is how much I ENJOYED this audio book and why.

Best Romantic Vampire Love Story; Twilight for Adults.

Conversion, I found to be the best romantic Vampire love story, Twilight for adults. The story of a man who is a quarter Vampire, but is about to face a change in his human life when he bumps into Emma and her coffee. Emma, who complained of a boring stale life will be swept up into a family of Vampires who raise cattle.

Slow, fizzles out, little intrigue

Any additional comments?

I love the way the book started out but I admit; I could not finish it. The book could have been condensed by at least a third without loosing anything from the story and I felt the character spent to much time fretting and creating problems that weren't there. Some good concepts but to much padding!

No,just no.

Would you try another book from S. C. Stephens and/or Piper Goodeve?

Probably not. I can't decide if it's the book or the narrator.

What could S. C. Stephens have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Characters seem immature

How could the performance have been better?

Difficult to distinguish male voice from female

Any additional comments?

Hope to get my credit back to use on something better.

Blood sucking vampire

She’s no ordinary human and he’s no ordinary vampire. When a mixed breed vampire whose mostly-human falls in love with a human we get to discover a whole new world where human and vampires interact with each other. This is an unconventional unconditional love with out of the ordinary experiences. the downside of dating a vampire and remember that there were advantages too. Teren’s a fourth generation mixed vampire with more human qualities. Yet he still possesses typical vampire traits. I was sure there would be some difficulties ahead of us, and more “big” issues for us to tackle. Overall: This story delves into the differences between full vampires and mixed breeds. Essentially showing how humans don’t need to fear these mixed vampires. I liked how SC Stephens humanized Teren’s character. I liked that she didn’t take the typical vampire approach. She was smart and clever with the way she used the typical traits while also curbing them to fit into the story. I enjoyed her approach regarding certain myths about vampires. She added humor to ease the fears and compared her characters to those in the Addam’s Family. I liked how her vampires didn’t conform to the traditional vampire myths. The new generation approach was fascinating. Inserting the human aspect allowed for a more passionate read. It was easier to connect with these characters while visualizing the human side of Teren. I love SC Stephens approach at writing the sex scenes. Instead of going into graphic detail about the physical aspect she spent time on the emotional connection by choosing words to express how they felt when they were intimate. I think it’s okay to compare some of similar familiar vampire traits to Twilight. Twilight helped eased the concept of vampires and humans falling in love. This bridged the gap by diluting the vampire traits with human traits. Every stage in their relationship held danger and concern. When these two characters weren’t being physical they did have some situations that came about allowing for some action. Narrator: Piper Goodeve narrates and performs all the characters in Conversion. I happened to like her performance. I thought she was convincing. In fact, she enhanced my reading experience. I always purchase the ebook and audiobook together so I can follow along. Piper read the words word perfectly with no outside disturbances.

Different Myths

I loved this book. So nice our that hero is not a macho alpha, I love my alphas but it's a nice change. He is kind, honest, handsome and caring. So nice our heroine is a sweet, beautiful and practical girl. The new twist on the vampire mythology is so intriguing. I can hardly wait to move on to the next story which is downloading as I "speak". The voice actor, Piper Goodeve, is perfect for this character and added so much to my Falling in love with Conversion. Gotta go, I have listening to do.

Just the right amount of mystery and suspence

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If you like suspense and fantasy with the happily ever after, you'll love this book.

What other book might you compare Conversion to and why?

It's very like the Twilight sagas

What does Piper Goodeve bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrator's excellence in slipping for male to the many types female voices engages the reader and enhances the experience and feeling of almost watching a movie.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There was a lot of anger with the prejudices but not tears.

good story line. but..

I liked it. I wanted to definitely finish it... I felt like it took way to long to get to the peak of the story line and it was filled with way to many mundane day to day details...

I did not like the narrator. at all. period.
