Publisher's summary

They want her dead. But there’s a problem. Widow stands in the way.

Widow walks the side of the road at night when a pair of headlights is headed his way. It’s the first car in hours. With a thumb out, he hopes to get a ride. But when the car drives erratically at high speeds, Widow dodges, nearly being rammed to death. The driver barrels the car into a tree. It turns out the driver had a heart attack. Waiting for help to arrive, the driver enlists Widow’s help. The driver is a US Marshal. He was on his way to stop an attack on one of his witnesses. She’s been in the witness relocation program, hiding, living a new life. Now, they know who she is. They want her dead. Her only hope is her new protector—Jack Widow.

Fans of Lee Child's Jack Reacher, Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp, and Mark Greaney's The Gray Man series will love the Jack Widow action-thriller-mystery series.

Is Widow ready to settle down?

Jack Widow, former NCIS undercover investigator and Navy SEAL, now a drifter, is almost run over by a car. When the car crashes, Widow goes to the rescue and finds a retired US Marshal in distress. The Marshal asks for help protecting someone. This leads Widow on his latest quest to protect a single mother and son from the Irish mob and a vicious motorcycle club. Lots of action, blood and gore…and maybe Widow has found a forever family??? Another great book!

!!!!Another EXCELLENT Jack Widow novel!!!!

This is a wonderful addition to the Jack Widow series. This is the 17th book in the series. I suggest reading them all however each is written as a standalone and you can begin with this book.
When Widow is almost hit by a man while hitchhiking he goes to investigate. It appears the driver has just had a heart attack. Before being taken away the man tells Widow that he’s a Ranger and was on his way to protect a woman and her son in witness protection. The people she’s hiding from have found her and they’re on their way to kill her. He tells Widow where to find her and asks for his help. Widow agrees and locates the woman at her job minutes before three men show up to kidnap her. After dispatching the men he takes her to retrieve her son. When they arrive at her home they find more men there. The babysitter’s been murdered and the men are looking for her son. Widow again takes care of those men but makes the mistake of leaving one man alive.
Widow gets in touch with the Ranger for instructions and is told where to take them. Unfortunately between the man left alive and a mole in the agency they’re located again with horrific consequences. Now Widow’s angry. The speed of action is intense and the danger is palpable. This is a Fast Paced Edge of Your Seat suspense thriller.
If you’re a fan of Reacher (the older version), the Gray Man, Rapp (the older version) or if you just like to see the tarnished good guy win against evil then you will LOVE this series as much as I do.

Alan Phillip Ormond does a phenomenal job narrating. He is one of the BEST narrators out there.

This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

Jack Widow is worthless

The widow's fixation on coffee tends to grate on my nerves. While I can't speak for the book itself, the audio rendition comes off as lackluster to me. Jack Widow appears rather foolish in his repeated mentions of his height, his social ineptitude with women that seems to persist even as he encounters different characters in each installment, and his general mental fumbling. The series feels monotonous and uninspiring. It's challenging to pass judgment on the author's skills, but based on the audiobook experience, it leans more towards the negative side for me.
