Luxury villas on hot white sand, views for miles over turquoise water.
Flawless hostess Penny gathers guests to an island for her husband’s birthday celebrations.
But she soon regrets inviting self-obsessed Eloise…

When a child vanishes on the night of the party, their perfect island weekend is ripped apart. Even paradise harbours murky secrets…
Has he been taken? Has he drowned?

In the panic to find any trace, Penny casts about for someone to blame—even if that person is her own daughter, Rosie. Even clear waters descend to pitch black…

But it’s not the first time Rosie’s been attacked by her mother. And it’s not the first time she’s turned to Eloise for support.

As the sun beats down and dark secrets rise to the surface, can they find the missing child before it’s too late—or will this sudden disappearance endanger them all? …and someone among them knows the whole shocking truth

Great Story; this author knows how to write, develop characters, and bring the characters' emotions and inner thoughts to light in ways that intrigue, capture the mind, and keeps one listening. I'm also impressed by the narrators, especially the one who narrated Eloise. I appreciate that they both have beautiful mature voices and don't sound like teenage bimbos. I also very much love that even during crying, tear-filled scenarios, their narration was done in a mature way, and not in that whiny, high-pitched, blumbering , over-played, and exceedingly irritating cry-baby way in which most female narrators over do crying scenes. Both narrators were excellent, stellar, and perfect, _but I personally fell in love with the gorgeous voice of the one who narrated Eloise, and I wish she narrated the female characters in all of my Audible books_ .

Intriguing, Engaging, AND BEST NARATORS EVER

For me personally I could listen to aussies read ingredients off a cereal box and be entertained so well done as far as performance goes. As far as the story goes there were a few bits where I thought “wow! I don’t like any of these characters” or “wtf why would you do that???” But it all comes together in the end, the first boat scene was my favorite and it’s an easy listen.

Ehh pretty good

Not a horrible story but certainly not a 5-star novel. Very long and often repetitive narrative that adds nothing to the plot or characters. There were a few storylines that were introduced but never followed through with that could have added some substanance to the book. Then it just ended without ever tying in the loose ends. Narrator was excellent though.

Why all the 5-stars?

I liked getting to know them, but I felt the two main characters’ thoughts were repetitive, at times, and didn’t really add to the story. It made everything very drawn out. The ending was also anticlimactic.

Drawn out

Too much drama surrounding the adult women characters. Would have liked more mystery/detail about the kidnapping. The title "The Rip" didn't have much to do with the story. Assumed they referred to "rip tides" only because it took place on an island.

Too much drama
