Publisher's summary

Two murdered cops.

A lone policewoman.

One suspect—Jack Widow.

A cold night, in the middle of nowhere, in a vast county in New Mexico, a lone patrolwoman comes across a pair of dead cops sitting in their cruiser. And who does she find standing over their corpses? A giant, lone drifter with one stark trait; he is menacing like a nightmare. His name? Jack Widow.

To find the real killer, she'll have to partner with Widow. What seems like an ambush and execution might turn out to be something conspiratorial and far more sinister.

Good story that can’t be far from reality

With so much evil in the world this story isn’t far from the possibility of reality. Without going into details and spoiling the story, one can easily follow the storyline and know how corrupt police can be.

Always entertaining!

Absolutely love the Widow series. Please keep them coming! The way Scott Blade explains Widows thoughts and his thought processes is one of my favorite parts of all his books. Great series worth the time to listen/read.

Widow and aliens??

Ok, so that was misleading…Widow has decided to check out all things aliens (the out of space kind) in New Mexico when his ride abandons him just outside a small town. He comes upon two murdered cops…then the police chief shows up and she recognizes Widow. Good thing otherwise he would have been arrested…yet again. Working with the Chief, Widow soon uncovers a network of dirty cops who are engaged in kidnapping for blackmail. Of course, the bad guys don’t stand a chance against Widow…and just like Bond, Widow gets the girl at the end.

Scott Blade never disappoints

There are two authors that I never read what the book is about. I just buy them. One is Scott Blade and the other is Jack Carr. Allen Philip Ormond is in my opinion the best narrator of audiobooks. He has a great character to read about and a great writer to set them both up,
Jack Widow is the man!!!!!

This is such a GOOD SERIES!!!!

I’ve been a fan of this series since it first came out on Audible. The first book is Gone Forever and I would suggest starting there to fully appreciate this series. However if you’re not interested in listening to fifteen other books you can start with this one. All of the books in this series are written as a standalone with enough information provided so you should have a decent feel for the character of Jack Widow.
In this book Widow is on foot in the middle of nowhere when he comes across the bodies of two executed police officers. Shortly after a police woman finds him standing over them. By rights she should have arrested him but she recognizes him and knows that she can trust him. He on the flip side has no idea who she is and she won’t tell him. Instead she recruits him to help her figure out who killed these officers and why.
There are some graphic descriptions of women tortured but it’s all part of the story. This is only a small portion of a seven and a half hour book. I only mention this because I know some people are offended by this and it’s better to be forewarned.

Alan Philip Ormond is one of the BEST narrators, I wish he would do more than he currently does. His narration of this book is superb.

This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!!

unreasonably ridiculous

The book started out derivative, quickly descended into highly unlikely, paused briefly before plummeting into absurd, never even approaching sublime before landing firmly in ridiculous.

The author can clearly write, perhaps, however, as a result of copying whole books written by someone else almost page by page, then changing things around enough to claim actual authorship. It brings to mind that old famous review, 'this book is both good and original. Unfortunately, the good parts are not original, and the original parts are not good.' I forget who is credited with that, but it fits.

What isn't copied is endlessly clichéd, from the size of the woman cop's attributes to the venality of the local constabulary. The book appears to have been created by and/or for teen boys whose mental and moral development stalled circa 1957.

I feel like punching the author in the throat.

Why all the detail about stuff that doesn’t matter? I heard at least six times how the windmill makes a swooshing sound. Why repeat the crimes scene and how widow thinks it played out. At least six times. I’ve listeNed to most widow books but this one could have been a short story, should have been a short story. There was way too many words to say things. In done with this author.
