Very practical, recommended for first time parents

I am pregnant with my first child and have no experience caring for a baby so I was looking for a book to give me an idea of how things will be. This book was exactly that. The advice is sensible and does not push any one philosophy. The book takes too long talking about pregnancy and birth which I did not find useful at all. The actual newborn informstarts at chapter 12. The narration is very bad! Sounds like a computer voice with unnatural pauses and moving to next topic withought any pause.

newborn 101: perfect for us newbies

very informative. full of lots of helpful tips and advice. it is obvious that the author is very knowledgeable in both education and experience. would definitely recommend to new parents and/ or babysitters watching infants for the first time.

Very American minded and a bit outdated

I live in the Netherlands and this book was not that helpful for me as it was very American minded and hospital oriented. There were some helpful tips but not what I suspected.

Informative but old & incredibly boring

This book is so outdated it tells you to pack a CD with music for labour. There are a lot of lists, dry information and the reader's voice is monotone. Could be good to flip through as a reference guide, but listening to the whole thing is very difficult.
There is also a lot more space dedicated to pregnancy and toddler age than I expected from a book titled "Newborn 101", there are maybe 5 chapters on newborn care.
Plenty of "go and look at this website" or "read about this on that website".
Also very american in focus.
