Story
Mayim Bialik was the child star of the popular 1990s TV sitcom Blossom, but she definitely didn't follow the typical child-star trajectory. Instead, Mayim got her Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA, married her college sweetheart, and had two kids. Mayim then did what many new moms do - she read a lot of books, talked with other parents, and she soon started questioning a lot of the conventional wisdom she heard about the "right" way to raise a child. That's when she turned to attachment parenting.

Story
There are approximately 3,712 ways for a guy to look stupid during pregnancy-this book's here to help you avoid all (most) of them. And here's your first hint: Focus on what you can be doing for her rather than what's happening to her. She's pregnant. She knows that. You know that. And her one 152 baby books tell her exactly what she can expect. Your job is to learn what you can do between the stick turning blue and the drive to the delivery room to make the next nine months go as smoothly as possible.

Very informative about newborn parenting.
This beautiful guide is a jewel. It’s concise. Updated to this season. More books like this would benefit our families.

Good info for 2nd time
This is a little old school in many thoughts. It was a good refresher for 2nd time around but I think if I followed carefully with baby #1, it would make me a little nutty. Very rigid too on many beliefs

Focuses on buying cheap items not dealing w a baby
This book was pretty bad, I couldn't even get past chapter 2. She contradicts herself many times, and all she seems to do is want the reader to buy cheap things to save money. Not informative at all on parenting a newborn.
At one point she said something about smoking NOT being bad for you normally, but you should quit while you're pregnant! Really? We've known smoking is bad for us for decades!
She assumes people just want to buy cheap items. She says buy only cotton items because they are cheap and they WILL get ruined, and you can just throw them away then because they were cheap. And name brand items are not any better quality than "regular" items, and are useless and a waste of money. But then she turns around and says that you should ONLY get a new crib (but doesn't say why). If you have to get a used crib, it should only be from a family member. And get a bassinet, and make sure it is JPAM (but doesn't explain that). Buy a stroller and make sure you spend the extra money because you need to have one that has a detachable bassinet, and is light and folds easily. (aren't those just preferences???) She says to invest in a good monitor, but don't rely on it, always keep the baby close (then why get a monitor?).
I didn't find a single helpful tip in the 1.5 chapters I listened to. Even her breastfeeding tips were not tips.
There are better books out there, I'd recommend you save your money and get one of those.
