Publisher's summary

The black forest. A place of legend and folklore. A place where the souls of the dead never rest.

A group of paranormal researchers head to the isolated forest with the hopes of capturing something that has evaded them their whole careers: proof of life after death.

The forest soon promises to deliver an investigation beyond what they could have ever hoped for. But things take a turn for the sinister when one of the group disappears in the dead of the night.

Ghostly apparitions, disembodied voices, and demonic things lurking in the darkness turn the adventure into a living nightmare. Will any of them escape with their lives, or will they all pay for not taking heed of the local legend?

And at the heart of it all, the evil Mother Sibbett waits, ready to show them what the afterlife really holds.

A supernatural horror novel that will resonate with fans of The Blair Witch Project and The Ritual. After listening to this terrifying story, you will never go down to the woods again....

Good narrator, story is flawed.

The characters make unrealistically idiotic decisions that ruin the story. Rolled my eyes countless times.

Good horror story

This was a good horror story. It is scary, gruesome and suspenseful in all the right places. The narrator does. A great job narrating this book

whoa.

whoa. this story. A paranormal team goes into a haunted forest. it's been done and done again, right? well, not like this! this isn't your average haunted forest. sit down and buckle in! What these characters encounter and go through is horrific. The story is very good and original. i thought i had it figured out, the driving force behind everything, but i was so wrong. This one is going to stick with me for a while. If you like any of Lee's other books or haunted forest reads, your going to love this.

**i recieved this audio book in exchange for a honest review. Thank you so much for the (awesome) book!**

So Insane You Can't Stop Listening

I think this is one of the best narrators I have listened to. All the voice changes were great and not annoying. The story line is insane and often so disgusting you wonder how anyone could imagine this to put it in a book.

Awesome first half, meh second half.

This story had it's scary moments. I enjoyed the first half of the story. There were moments that I actually felt a chill down my back. That was in the first half. The other half, well it could do without the sex scenes. I feel like they didn't contribute anything to the story. At least in my opinion. They were rather graphic. Overall it was an interesting plot, well executed. Loved the narration.

Gruesome story!

Excellent narration combined with the twisted imagination of the author makes this macabre tale one that may just give you nightmares. You've been warned. Enjoy

Great Spooky Story

This story reminded me a bit of “Blair Witch”, but much better with twists and turns. The story follows a group of individuals into a haunted forest, searching for a rumored lost city (town). The ending really caught me by surprise, I will not spoil it for you. It reminded me of an old saying, “Be careful what you wish for”. I have read other writings from the author and have enjoyed each book.

Blair witch remake?

I really enjoyed this book although it did remind me of the Blair witch project. How did the story get told if no one made it out alive?
I received this free for an honest review from the author or narrator.

Evil in the Forest

The performance is good and the demonic presence is through out. The forest is evil from the beginning and the cast is not sure what they will discover if anything. The plot moves at a slow pace and the horror involves sex, dismemberment, violence and more sex.
I enjoy tails of horror and the supernatural but found the use sex, not love, as an instrument of pain and suffering disquieting and evil far beyond what I enjoy.

Started off great and fizzled a little for me.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

The way this book started out had me hooked. There was a great set up in the beginning. Paranormal investigators go into the Black Forest to search out a legend of a lost village where some crazy cultish activity took place. Creepy forest, cultic activity, supernatural forces run amok, I am in. This is the third book in a series by Mountford. I have not read the first two, but that wasn't a hindrance at all in understanding this book. The narration by Hannibal Hills was good. The story as a whole was good. I have one hangup and this is a personal issue with me. I don't like a bunch of sexual debauchery in a story. I just don't like it for personal reasons. I'm not a fan of extreme horror and while there are much more extreme examples out there, the sexual situations were too much for me. Just a word of warning for those going in. This is not a simple haunted forest story. It is well written and the story as a whole was good. If all the gross sex stuff was left out or changed then I'd have a much more favorable review. Not my cup of tea at all.
