Welcome to Arlington Asylum, a place where the insane and the forgotten are brought to die

Adrian James is running from his past with nothing left to live for. At rock bottom, with a blade to his wrist, a mysterious stranger intervenes and offers him a chance at salvation.

Adrian accepts, and he enters Arlington Asylum of his own free will. Once inside, however, he soon learns that he will never escape. And worse, there are strange experiments taking place here, and a secretive medicine is being administered, one that causes certain…changes…in the patients.

The insidious secrets within the halls of Arlington Asylum are slowly revealed, and it is beyond anything Adrian could have possibly imagined. A literal hell is unleashed as impossible and terrifying creatures indulge their sadistic desires.

Adrian and his friends must escape this nightmarish place and warn the outside world before it’s too late, but they must face down the demons of hell to do so.

Tormented is a gruesome and violent horror story, influenced by such greats as John Carpenter’s The Thing, Clive Barker’s Hellraiser, and Jeremy Gillespie’s The Void

Do you dare enter the Asylum?

American Horror Story Asylum meets HP Lovecraft

Asylums give me the creeps. Not being in control of your thoughts, senses and actions is one of my biggest fears. Apart from that, the buildings asylums occupy tend to be a cross between a jail and a hospital, fact that make them ominous and unsettling in my eyes.

If you combine this sick and disturbing atmosphere with a higher lurking horror, you get “The Tormented”, a disturbing tale of survival in which the characters’ body and soul are on the line.

This book is not for the faint of heart. The descriptions of the author are graphic and the pictures they create in your mind will leave you feeling dirty and disgusted. The worst part of it is that even when this is a work of fiction, some of the scenes will be pictured in your imagination so vividly that you will think you are trapped with the rest of the inmates.

This book is good… in the worst possible way…

Fantastic Horror!

This is the second book I have listened to from Lee Mountford. I find his stories fantastic with plenty of gore. The characters are well developed and the details are very descriptive. I was able to develop a picture in my mind of what was described, such as the “antagonist(s)”. I will leave it at that as to not give away what you are in store for. If you like imaginative horror (reminds me of Clive Barker)with plenty of gore, you will like this audiobook. I look forward to the next release from this author.

Gore and suspense

I wasn’t sure when I started listening but after the first chapter things really picked up. This book is full of gore and violence, both of which are told perfectly by the narrator. He uses his voice to draw you into the story. Some of it was so graphic that I had to pause for a minute. Don’t get me wrong, the actual storyline is very good too. Its even scarier because I can see some form of this hospital really happening. I enjoyed it a lot.

I received this audio book at no charge. A review was not required and is my own.

Tormented

First, let me say that if you don't enjoy horror, or incredibly gruesome imagery, or hellscapes that span oblivions, or bits of everyone... everywhere well then you can stop reading this and find another book. Congratulations, you have saved yourself some nightmares. For the rest of you, have at it because you get that and more.

The end of the book was perfect for the dark story the led to it. The first 2/3 of the book was a story with a certain creepy factor. You have inmates/patients of an insane asylum and you have the typical orderlies that hate them, a director that has a dark side to hide, and a couple of doctors that are either clueless or they pretend that everything is being done for the good of their wards. Oh, and you have creepy occurrences and dreams that hint at a greater evil at work.

The last bit is pure bedlam and it is nonstop gore. It doesn't let up and it is brutal. If Hellraiser and The Reanimator had a baby and that baby grew into a 9 foot man in 30 seconds and they threw the man-baby in a tub of acid and it came out swinging for the fences with tentacles and 16 hands and mouths full of teeth on each hand well then you are getting close to what lies in wait in this book.

TORMENTED - ASYLUMS RULE!

I LOVE the horror genre and really enjoyed Tormented. Very well written and beautifully narrated. Torment, gore, horror, violence... it's all there. If you can handle it! ;) If you're easily squeamish about horror/gore, you may want to think twice, but for those of you up to the challenge... DO IT.

Disturbingly delightful, GREAT HORROR audiobook!

Not Bad

My opinion of this book kind of vacillated between thinking it was great and thinking it was okay/not the worst. Over all, I don't consider Tormented to be a waste of time for a horror lover. The narration is pretty good, although at times it was a bit lifeless. However, Hannibal Hills really shines at making the different characters come to life by using different accents and intonations. I am not sure if this book would be as good being read as a physical copy, because Mr. Hills really captures anger and aggression to the point where it becomes unsettling- perfect for this genre! I do hope he will read more horror in the future.

I think this book is worth picking up if you like disturbing characters and a story set in an asylum. I am definitely interested in listening to more Hannibal Hills- he has a lot of potential.

Tormented!!!

This is another terrific book by Lee. Lee brings the happenings of the asylum to life, (I won’t go into details). He writes the most graphic and detailed books of horror that I have ever saw. Lee has a way of bringing out the most graphic and descriptive details. If you like horror, this book will not disappoint you. Like all of Lee’s books this is another hit.

I love the fact that Lee has chosen to work with Hannibal Hills again as the narrator. Hannibal brings all of the characters to life, he has such a deep, rich, and charismatic voice that just makes you invision every detail and character in the book.

I was given a code for this book, in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. I look forward to reading the next book.

So Good!

Excellent horror story! Honestly I have to say this story was not what I was expecting it was better than I expected. For me horror stories are usually a hit or miss but this one was really good. It held my attention and there was so much detail when describing the “monster” mutation that patients were going through. It was so interesting and it definitely was not your average horror story. I liked the fact that it was a paranormal horror because that wasn’t what I was expecting. It caught me off guard but intrigued me too. I would recommend it if you’re looking for an out of the ordinary horror book that’s actually good.

Classic horror

While it doesn't have a that deep or complex of a storyline, I don't believe it was meant to. This is what I'd consider a classic old school horror novel. We get dropped into an asylum where something awful shady seems to be up with the doctors there. The story kind of reminded me of Lovecraft or early Clive Barker, filled with 'ancient' gods and horrific creatures. Would probably make an excellent mini-series on Netflix or HBO, someplace where they could embrace the graphic nature of the horrors taking place.

Hannibal Hills does a great job with the narration. He has kind of a gentle voice which I think serves to enhance the horror of it all, and there is just something about his accent that also adds a little something extra to it all.

Mr. Hills takes you on a ride with Mr. Mountford’s

Tormented is set in the 1950’s in England. We get an up close look at an asylum where there’s odd happenings going on… is it supernatural or the doctors? Perhaps a bit of both! I was fascinated with the electroshock therapy sessions, the trans-orbital lobotomies, ice baths, and off blood transfers. This book is cruel and gruesome! The gore in this book was just an explosion of blood and ick! The orderlies aren’t the only monsters walking the floors. Watch out behind you! Don’t go to sleep! Pick a scary euphemism… it works here!

Hannibal Hills tells a scary story like no one else does! That British accent just gives me chills with the way he retells these horror stories. His voice is so full of fear and fascination. It’s hard not to get pulled into whatever story he’s telling. Mr. Hills takes you on a ride with Mr. Mountford’s words!
