But now, her father is dead, and she is forced to break that vow and return home - to lay his body to rest and face up to the ghosts of her past.

However, Danni is about to learn that some ghosts are more real than others.

Something beyond her understanding waits for her there, lurking in the shadows. An evil that intends to kill her family and claim her very soul.

refreshingly terrifying!!!!

Danni Morgan has returned to her childhood home where her mother left her and her father tortured and molested her.  Returning to bury her hated father, Danni brings her supportive husband and two children to her father’s funeral.  There she encounters a demonic evil so great and consuming that no one is safe from its touch.  No one and her life is about to change yet once again as she faces the demonic evil head on.

I expected this to be scary but the level of horror this audiobook induced is by far greater than any I have heard.  I couldn’t put it down!  It was refreshingly terrifying!!!!  If you enjoy horror – this is the book for you!

Lee Mountford built the suspense, horror and mind-numbing terror expertly.  When listening to the book and one begins to catch glimpses out of the corner of one's eye of something moving but nothing there … you know it’s truly a work of art!

Hannibal Hills performed the voices with skill.  His performance left one shuddering to one’s core when the demonic evil spoke.   He was spectacular!  His talent carried the terror beyond the pages and gave them a voice.

Dead Goat Equals No Go

Great horror story that gets going fairly quickly and continues on until the end. The beginning can be a little confusing but picks up and gets you to that haunt quick enough that you aren't waiting until the last 20 minutes of the story to get there. I think this is a blend of two fairly common horror stories but does them both quite well. It definitely has a Amityville Horror feel, as the house seems to want to possess family members and have them kill each other. It also has your basic demonic presence in the house, entities coming after the family willing to stop at nothing to unite them all in death. Mountford did a great job of blending these two together. On the plus side to a otherwise depressing and horror filled story, I would almost call this a coming of age tale for both Alex and Leia.

Hills does a great job narrating this story and the little snipets of ghost voice speckled throughout the story really added to the overall haunt. Make sure you stay tuned after the story for both a little bit of back story and two short stories from different authors.

Genuinely Scary Tale

I really enjoyed this. I was in the mood for haunted house story, but so many of them just fall flat. They start with a creepy beginning, and by the middle you're just irritated with the characters for being so stupid. All the atmosphere goes totally out the window.

Not this one. The entire story was actually scary! I listened to it at night with the lights off, which is what I like to do sometimes, and I was actually nervous when I had to get up and go to the bathroom in the dark. I *almost* turned the lights on!

I don't scare easily and I'm not squeamish at all, but this one had me. The suspense and creepiness just continue to build, and don't let up until the end.

The narration was fantastic. I save my five star rating for the best, and Hannibal Hills deserves one.

Excellent Supernatural Horror

I really adored this book. Though, supernatural horror is my all time favorite genre! 'The Demonic' struck me as a new take on an Amityville type story turned on it's head. It's hard to describe what this book is about without giving away significant spoilers so instead I will just say that this is a paranormal horror novel worth reading if you are even vaguely interested in this kind of content. Lee Mountford wrote a tale that is packed full of surprises that truly kept me guessing throughout and Hannibal Hills delivers a fantastic performance (even when voicing demons!). I will be looking for more work by both the author and voice actor!

Superb Intro to Audiobooks!

I was uncertain about making the switch from music to an audiobook during work, but I am so glad I chose this as my first! It was beautifully narrated, or perhaps this is just my love for accents, and the story had me hooked within just a few minutes—with a bit of help from the teaser, of course! Every chapter left on a cliffhanger making it difficult to attend meetings during the day; however, you’ll not see me upset over that point.

are you a freaking doctor JOHN?!?!

**I received this audiobook in exchange for a honest review**

ok, first off- Hannibal Hills (yes that's what audible says) did a GREAT job narrating this book. sexy accent and he does a good, creepy voice for the ghost. I like it! the recording was great, top quality.
This is the first thing I've read or listened to by Lee Mountford and wow! He just throws you right in and does not waste any time. The story is well written, flows easy and is creepy. In the audio version (don't know if it's in the other versions) Mr. Mountford includes a note about the story at the end. I won't spoil it for anyone but I'm so glad he did, it made the story even better. If you enjoy creepy ass ghost stories that don't waste any time getting to the good stuff, this one is for you.

Loved almost as much as horror in the woods

Ya so I am now fan of both the author and the narrator. Just as horror in the woods surprised me out of no where, this one came as another welcome surprise. Don't want to ruin anything but the build up was fantastic and really pulled you into the story. I am really curious if there is any relation to the first book, or possibly set in the same universe? Feels as though the evil entity is from the same place as the one from the prior horror in the woods novel. That would be an awesome connection! I will read anything don't by Lee Mountford from here on out, awesome chilling stories!

Spooky!

This was a good horror ghost story.
Not too much gore but high on the spooky factor.
We get to find out just why Danni had such a bad childhood in the house and she definitely never should have returned because the problems did not die when her father did.
Hannibal Hills did a good job with the narration. Good pacing, character voice distinction, and he didn't overdo the volume when the characters screamed.
Would definitely recommend, good book & worth a listen.
