Variation of Spooky Tales

I enjoyed this read. The book consists of multiple stories, each spooky. Some of the stories are even prequels to a few of the other authors writings. I have enjoyed other writings of this author and enjoyed them as well. If you like short scary stories, I highlight recommend this read. You will not be disappointed.

Abandon All Hope..

I LOVE Lee's books and own all of them so I knew what I was getting into, but I was really excited to find it expanded his mythos and the world he is creating. It's brutal, it's sad, it's never a happy ending. I highly recommend this for fans of his novels, but also for those who are more into the gut punching body horror than the old dusty ghosts kind of horror. Really hope to see more audio books from him and Mr Hill

Excellent Collection of by a Master of Horror

Lee Mountford definitely knows how to tell hauntingly delicious full length horror stories. I haven’t found one that I disliked and can now say that he does just as good with his short stories. I’m at the point now that if I see his name on the book I have to listen to it. None of these stories disappointed and I can't say there was a single one that didn't provide the Mountford feel that just creeps you out and makes you want to hide in the corner. Coupled with Hannibal Hills, they are a power team of horror who entrance you and then scare you to the point you want to turn on the lights.

These stories were great. I absolutely loved that some of them tied into some of his other novels that I had already listened to. I think that is an ingenious idea and would love to hear more shorts from the various worlds he has created. All in all there was a nice variety of stories, Mountford usually has a demonic presence in his story that infests a character and these all continue with that style. A great collection of short stories for those who like great horror stories, the writing and haunts are great and I can't wait for the next volume to come out..

I really enjoy the Mountford and Hills powerhouse team. Together they are able to put you on the edge of your seat and keep you there throughout each story. Hills puts a lot of emotion into the characters and you feel their anxiety as your heartbeat quickens. He does fantastic character voices that just really adds an extra touch to each one.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

A great collection of short stories!

I am firm believer that horror shines in short stories and Mr. Mountford’s Nightmare Collection doesn’t disappoint. I thoroughly enjoy every tale. The ones that are connected to his novels enrich the background of the longer works without unveiling all the mystery and the new ones are one-shots (or maybe not...) represent great examples of top shelf horror. And so you know, you don’t need to have listened to any of Mr. Mountford’s previous works to enjoy this collection.

I will be waiting for this author’s next piece of narrative impatiently, but in the meantime, I’ll go back to the novels to connect some dots...

Ima need that nightlight now.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lee Mountford’s full length novels (especially Forest of the Damned) so I thought I’d give this collection a try, even though short stories typically aren’t my favorite. These were great. Creepy-leave the nightlight on-jumping at every creak- great! I especially loved that there were prequels to his previous novels (that I need to go re-read,now that I know the backstories). There were horror stories of all types from the just plain gruesome, to the straight up scary. Not to mention, one of them was almost identical to a nightmare I had as a kid that has stuck with me my entire life... so, that was a bit traumatic. And as always, Hannibal Hills’ narration was spot on. Not so over the top you’re laughing when you’re supposed to be scared (as with some other horror narrators) but with enough drama that you can feel the fear. This was a great collection, I’m definitely looking forward to volume 2. I received a copy of this audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Good Shorts

I totally enjoy author’s horror books and enjoyed all of the short stories in the book and a couple of prequel to his novels. They are horrific and creepy with ghosts, demons, etc and enjoyed Black Forest, Demon on the Farm, and Late Shift to name a few. It was so much better listening to them. I cannot wait for vol. 2. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU!

The Suspense Builds and Builds...

A lot of horror goes right for the jugular, but this book builds on the suspense until you're a bundle of nerves when it all goes to hell. This book hit the mark every way possible in my opinion. Excellent writing style, suspenseful, highly imaginative and the horror didn't pull any punches. I highly recommend this book.
