Publisher's summary

Cut class. Kick ass. Save the frigging world.

When college sophomore Dan Marshall's life morphs into a hybrid of Penn State and a home-brew tabletop RPG adventure, he grabs his talking two-handed sword and hits campus, seeking gold, girls, and glory.

But even with two beautiful badass women at his side, how can a low-level barbarian survive when he’s pitted against a fraternity of gnolls, a dungeon full of nightmares, and an apocalyptic death cult bent on destroying the whole world?

Warning: Dan the Barbarian is an over-the-top adventure novel intended for listeners 18 and older. It includes explicit sex, graphic violence, a harem of gorgeous ass-kicking girls, and a foulmouthed two-handed sword. Listen at your own risk.

ehh we shall see how book 2 turns out

There are select few books that make me want to bash my skull against a wall, this is one of them. This book is not a bad listen in all honesty loved the first 80% the 15% after that though ruined the book for me. Jinx I'm hoping your writing style doesn't continue in the same manner with the rest of this series because I enjoy power mage immensely so far so I know your not a depressing writer but Dan's story so far is depressing

Dan becomes The Man!

Dan wanted to live in another world, on of adventure and excitement, but when he gets his wish he discovers that comes with a price. Incredible author and one of the best narrators out there.

fun

fun story - great narration!

a zaney adventure full of puns, beautiful women, and crazy barbarians - what could possibly go wrong?!

this is a harem story, and is fairly predictable at times, but that being said - it's funny, fun, and entertaining. the narrator really brings the characters to life and draws you into the story. well worth a credit.

The tale begins...

Fantasy Harem gameLit light with adult content. This is book1 in a 4-bool series.

In this tale, the hero and MC is Dan. He starts out as a clumsy college nerd struggling to keep up his gredes while partying and playing RPG games. Learning he's going to fail a class and lose his scholarship, he goes to the museum, where he accidentally breaks a display case and destroys the exhibit within, This frees a genie who sends him to a parallel world filled with magic and creatures as a reward, while Dan himself is transformed into a barbarian, right out of high fantasy. Along the way, he gains the love of Holly, the elven druid who lives across the hall, and that of Holly's friend, Nadia -- who also manages to steal Dan's rent money. Then the story gets even crazier. It's a fun quest story where the newbies learn to survive while they learn to depend upon each other. It works. .

Naturally, after listening to a few audiobooks, I've started to gain some favorite narrators. Before this series, I had never heard Andrea Parsneau perform. And in this series, perform she does. I was quite blown away by her skills. She kept my attention throughout the story. Whether you have read the ebook or not, you're in for a treat. Highly recommended.

much better than I was expecting

this is the first fantasy Harem series that I might actually continue! this particular genre is not my forte. but due to some of the reviews I read I give it a try, and I was pleasantly surprised!
the audio performance is extremely well done, the range of the narrator is truly exceptional.
the sex scenes do get a bit explicit yet they fit the narrative for the most part. I hope that this continues and the series does not Devolve into simply overly explicit sex scenes with no apparent reason except to add more explicit sex scenes...
there is a lot of potential for the story and I hope that the author continues to expand the world and the death of the characters.

over all a fun adventure

our hero Dan is the definition of too dumb to live sometimes living up to the stupid Barbarian trip but he's also a good guy and likable and there are a number of characters that stop to point out the fact that he's a complete Meathead considering the mountains and Legions of dithering weenie protagonist our Dan is both proactive and well he does recognize when he royally fucks up he actually shows growth learning from the experience on the downside they Telegraph a lot of shit from a mile away and Dan does not seem to catch on at all even when you stop and consider the fact that he is a table top gamer and should recognize the troops when they smack him in the face then again he is that stupid and it's only thanks to his courage Barbarian strength and allies in two incredibly lovely women whose affection and admiration for him actually makes sense and feels like a genuine relationship a standard crazy old man wizard and his chess-playing drunken monkey and a foul-mouthed sentient sword really balanced out the story and world
