Publisher's Summary

Can an Earthman running low on ammo wrangle a world full of magic and monsters?

As a mountain man, cowboy, and cavalry scout, Jedediah Braddock handled every challenge on America’s Western frontier. Then he’s transported to Tardoon, a magical world full of deadly predators, gorgeous monster girls, and brutal centaurs.

Most men would have died on arrival, but Braddock has enough love and courage to forge a new destiny in this mighty land. Filled with tough optimism and pioneering spirit, he vows to build the desperate monster girls a sanctuary in the wilderness.

There is much to do.

Timber to cut. Cabins to build. Game to hunt. Land to plow and plant.

Sprites to seed. Children to raise. And a whole bunch of enemies to kill.

Warning: This series contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, and a strong male protagonist with the rough-and-ready attitude of an American frontiersman. Listen at your own risk.

I wanted to love this...

The premise really spoke to me and the start was brilliant...

The ridiculous drama between the Wrangler and Elizabeth got tired reeeeeeeeally fast. It was always gonna be terrible given the little time you can devote to character/ relationship development in harem-type stories, but it's made even worse by how it was handled.

He's smitten because she's pretty, she's scared of him because of stories of his past... but they don't know each other, and the only time they talk is when she's being horrible or manipulative towards him... but that somehow means they're madly in love?

It's just annoying, and takes to way too much time. A romance should add to a story, not detract from it and this one is dragging on so long I'm just hoping she dies at this point.

Ironically, she could have been a really valuable character. I think the idea that an incredibly beautiful woman who doesn't fawn over the Wrangler is great! It ads balance and realism...

But of course she does. She's just really annoying too.

How 'attractive.'

Great mix of fantasy and Western

Wrangler is a great mix of adult western and fantasy genres. The main character is everything you would want an old west cowboy to be.

Adam Golds narration is absolutely perfection for this book. You can just feel the old west dripping from each word. His is the voice that you imagine our protagonist to have. I can't recommend this listen higher.

Disappointing story excellent voice acting

The premise of the story was good the early chapters brought a lot of great character development. Unfortunately the author spent way too much time having the MC look over the valley and reflecting on his life the story could’ve been done in half the time

Its a pretty good book.

It is definitely not for children... like 21 and over kind of book. This book gets so spicy that you may want to losten to it when the kids are in bed, or your just... alone. Its almost like that sexy book cover, you use to cover up because you didnt want everyone to know what you were reading of what type of book it was lol.

Outside of that, its a unique story because its westeen meets fantasy. Theres no leveling up announcements, or crunching numbers, but there are points where... they are like: you we do this we will gain power and some have abilities. Otherwise, theres just a guy and his rescuee trying to carve a life for themselves in this new world. Him more than her at first, and while doing so, things get real interesting for him.

P.S. If you dont like explicit sex scenes described, in detail, for you... don't read this or fastward a bit

the man that can't miss

this story is for a man's man. for those whose beliefs are slowly fading out. when i titled this "the man that can't miss"; I want talking about the cowboy on the cover, but the author. Hondo consistently brings book after book that is just what you want. with characters that inspire you and you want to be. main characters that aren't overpowered but with sound mind and hard work show that all things aren't impossible. I also appreciate that things never get too dark for the characters he writes despite the world he creates. for some reason a lot of authors think that's needed to make a point, drive in a emotion, or cause some sort of shock.
all in all i highly recommend given the book a listen. worse thing that can happen is you don't like it and return it, no harm no foul; but when you don't, look up my buddy Hondo on Facebook and track the rest of his releases.

Old story with something different

I like this story, because it reminds me of another good book. However, this story bring something new to the genre.
I believe it is worth a buy.

Sam Elliott?

I went into this book a little skeptical, and I will admit the story is very similar to most other books. I would have given the story a 3.5 honestly, but after some deliberation, I gave it the 4th star. What can I say? I was raised on spaghetti westerns? If you're looking for a book that you can compare this to I would most definitely say the series “Wild Wastes” - by Randi Darren.
I definitely got a vibe of that series here but it is a spaghetti Western over a post apocalyptic era.

This book started of putting an instant smile on my face as the Adam Gold began. I instantly was able to imagine the great Sam Elliott reading this book. I wanted more and more and finished this book in under a day. Now, Adam doesn't quite sound like Sam Elliott but it is easy to add in his voice since Adam does such an amazing job here.

I read another comment before purchasing this book saying there needs to be a female narrator and see what they mean now. It's nothing against Adams’ ability to voice female characters as he killed those roles as well. But, it's more that I don't want to lose that sense of immersion and I think a female narrator would aid in keeping that feeling. It may just be me being a bit too picky but there's my two sense to what you will with it.

I liked this book so much that I immediately bought the second after finishing the first. Since I do listen to all my books at x1.3-1.4 speed I finish my books a lot faster and know I'm just going to be disappointed once I finish the second. So please help me not be sad by supporting this author and narrator and giving it all the stars you possibly can. You never know Braddock may just tip his hat to you in thanks!

Great story

I think I was waiting for a story that combines old world cowboys and high fantasy. Great Idea!

Another zinger from Hondo Jinx!

Jeebus, can this author do no wrong?! An epic main character, a beautiful cast of complex female companions in a very original setting that presents challenges and growth for all involved. Not to mention enough spiciness to keep India satisfied for a month! Mr Jinx, I love your writing and Adam Gold, though I'd not heard of him before this, did a great job with an impressive range too. I can't wait for the next Audiobook!
