Publisher's summary

When Josh Underwood is thrown through a wormhole and lands on an unfamiliar world, he is immediately attacked by flesh-eating worms and snarling wolves.

He has one huge advantage. A ring sits on his finger, but it's no ordinary ring. It's alien tech designed to improve its host’s strength, speed, agility, durability and combat instinct. Not all boons are infinitely wondrous. This tech has to understand what Josh needs for it to evolve, and time is of the essence.

An evil force is rising in Mythelore and threatening not only the land’s entire way of life but also Josh’s new companions—the lovely Arabella, Elowen, the wildly sexy archaeologist, and Cassandra, a sassy witch with no understanding of her true powers.

Only one question remains: Will Josh’s power grow in time to save them?

Story started a bit slow, but finished well

Voice Actress Jessica Threet, knows how to do her job, this book is not read it is Preformed, sneezes, yells, burps, and several distinct Voices with there own inflection, so i always knew who was speaking, top tier for sure

Story this is a good take on the whole, i am going to start a system to fight monsters in a world without such a system and it does pretty well, i have listened to a couple of the authors other work, i like the style.
the set up and pay off was nice to see done well for once, i was totally surprised a couple times when i thought i knew what was going to happen and it went a whole other way.

A solid book!

I throughly enjoyed the Audio book. Jessica Threet delivers a great performance that I have come to look forward to in her works! The Author's delivered a smooth well paced story with MC a tad on the "Boyscout" side. However this is not always a minus and it nice to have a decent guy finally get the Girl or Girls for a change. If there was a minus to the book it was the predictable nature of it. But hopeful the Author's hit their stride and give the story and plot a greater Depth in the next . This one convinced me to give the next a try! Well worth the credit!

Decent effort

Story works pretty well. World building felt a little thin and I’m still not sure what’s what but that’s a minor detail. My biggest problem was the “love” between the MC and the women of the story. One conversation and a few looks and suddenly everyone is in love and part of a family. It’s a bit eye-roll inducing. But if you can get past that bit of cringe it’s worth a listen.

Excellent 1st Book in the series, but....

Good story with enough twists that sometimes you aren't sure which way things are going to end up. I also sometimes grin at the the author's literary license when the MC wins a battle. Sometimes the excitement of the story causes the individuality of the character's voice to blur into each other and the listener loses track of who is saying what. While I like Jessica, she doesn't have the vocal range/variations of some other female narrators. Regardless, this does not take away from the enjoyment of this book! Looking forward to starting the 2nd.

I love a good Fantasy/Sci-Fi!

Our MC gets a high tech, seemingly magical, ring as he and the crew he's with are scavenging a military space ship.
As he's trying to get away from the enemy that showed up he gets blown into a wormhole that takes him through time, almost 200 years, to a planet that has magic and no real technology.
This ring he got makes changes to his body that it sees he needs like tougher skin and stronger and faster muscles, etc.
Of course he finds a gorgeous woman and falls for her at first sight. He joins her and her monster hunter father and they help him train with the ring by trial and error.
He gains power and gets more women.
This is a great HaremLit Fantasy/Sci-Fi story that needs to keep going as a series.
Monster hunting team series.
I love this book and will definitely be listening to it again and again.
I give this book 8.5 out of 5 stars.

Wow

This was awesome, it’s like a growing troop of monster hunters in a sword and board fantasy where only the MC levels.

What an amazing first book in a series! I loved the leveling system and the characters! I hope in the next book we get to see more of the world and how strong he can get
