Publisher's summary

When Zara awoke to find Valerius, leader of the legendary Gilded Knights, towering over her, she thought she'd gone mad.

She was the Fury, mistress of claw and flame—armies trembled at her name! Now she lay chained and broken, a prisoner in her own home.

But that wasn't why she thought herself mad.

Only yesterday, she remembered a different life. She remembered her nephew in the local arcade, struggling to beat the villainous Zara the Fury in Knights of Eternity. She remembered her uncle and his big booming laugh...

…and she remembered the gun that changed everything.

Awesome first entry!

An internet story and a creative world with mysteries to unravel. MC shows growth through past trauma and struggles. Amazing narration!

Interesting

I am not a fan of the powerlessness of the mc, or the switching between characters pov especially near the end. Gets put in an OP character, but basically removes half her powers because author wants to nerf her. Add her crippling fear.

a brilliant new series

absolutely fantastic, in every way except that it had to end. I will be eagerly awaiting more book in this series and from this author

the narration was simply top notch. fantastic range of voices, emotional delivery that matched every scene from introspection to humor to gripping action.

world building and storytelling are simply great, expanding a simple arcade game into a complex and deep world. every character is compelling, and the author does a good job portraying someone suffering with severe anxiety. even the villain is complex and engaging to listen to.

I will eagerly await more

A must-read for fans of fantasy, adventure, and philosophical explorations of the human condition

Dear reader, I must confess that the pages of Calamity have held me enthralled, transporting me to realms both familiar and unknown. This captivating narrative, penned by the ingenious Rachel Ní Chuirc, is a masterful exploration of the human condition, delving into the very fabric of reality and identity.

Miss Zara, the protagonist, finds herself ensnared in a labyrinthine tale of dual existences, torn asunder by the conflicting demands of her warrior persona, the Fury, and her humble life in the modern world. The author's skillful hand weaves a tapestry of intrigue, as our heroine navigates the treacherous landscapes of her own mind, confronting the shadows of her past and the uncertainty of her future.

Throughout this gripping tale, the characters are drawn with precision and depth, their motivations and desires expertly crafted to propel the story forward with a sense of urgency and purpose. The world-building is nothing short of remarkable, transporting the reader to realms both fantastical and grounded in the mundane.

In conclusion, dear reader, if you are prepared to embark on a journey that will challenge your perceptions and stir your imagination, then "Calamity, Knights of Eternity" is a tale that will undoubtedly captivate and unsettle you. Approach with caution, for the boundaries of reality are about to be stretched to their very limits.

An Eternal Story

Debut novel for author Rachel Ní Chuirc is a knock out. An anxiety driven main character is transported into the body of a character from a video game she loves after saving her nephew in one heroic action, learning to overcome her struggles, and some fantastic action, this has become my favorite read this year. The World of Knights of Eternity is rich and vast with its beauty and is a world I would love to visit. I mean who hasn’t wanted to step foot into their favorite video game world? I just feel it in my soul that this series is going to be a hit and I cannot wait to see what Rachel has in store for us when Desecrate comes out later this August!
(Also as always, Andrea absolutely killed it with the audio!)

Main character sucks

The main character said it best...she is an idiotic, insufferable, pathetic...
The rest of the book is good. The narration is great, and the story is interesting, even the other characters are pretty good. However, the main character is so bad I almost dropped the book every couple chapters.
