Publisher's summary

Accidentally hitched to a dream. Now for the catch....

I didn't even say "I do."
One crank call and I'm insta-wife to a tattooed behemoth and mother to his kids.
He's paying my idiot boss a fortune for the perfect lie.
Because trouble found Miller Rush, and he found me.

A rock-hard, overprotective rebel with a cause.
Father of the century.
Abs wound tighter than his attitude.
A broodylicious bull stomping around my house, barking orders.
Something's got to give, okay?

But it won't be me.
Not my courage, even when my nosy mother smells drama.
Not my heart set on helping two little angels and their perma-grump dad.
Definitely not my body screaming Mayday because his bedroom eyes are magnets.

Deep breath.
It's only a few weeks.
It's only a whole mess of freaky secrets.
It's only pretend and I'm so not letting Miller run off with my heart.
Riiight. Why didn't anyone warn me some knots can't be untied?

Very entertaining story and performance

I love the characters in this book. The suspense is great!! The action scenes and the developing romance make a full, enjoyable story. I really do not like the too many steamy scenes, but they can be easily skipped. This is a very entertaining book and the performance is very good.

Gingersnap

Enjoyed the storyline, though I thought a little more accuracy and realistic elements would have been used. Half way through i struggled to finish. I love Nicole and her HEA stories but this one for some reason wasn't as real as some of her others. The narrators did a great job on this one as well.

Great romantic suspense

Gwen lives her life being afraid...so she tries not to rock the boat. She lives in a townhouse owned by her renowned author mother, and works for a small time attorney. Due to strange circumstances, she ends up fake married to a single father. Miller is on the run from his former employer ever since he discovered a horrible secret. Now it’s all he can do to keep his family safe. He just needs a fake wife to fly out of the country. Being fake married to Gwen sounded like a good idea, but he wasn’t counting on falling for her...or her meddling mother.
Surprisingly, when things start to go south, Gwen’s mother is pretty useful. Can Miller, Gwen and family stay alive to explore a possible HEA? Will the bad guys win this time?
Great story and narration.

Disappointing

I was really excited about the storyline since it's different than what I've read from this author previously. I've been enjoying her books because they don't have a frustrating amount of angst like a lot of romances. Unfortunately I noticed a lot of her characters are pretty slow to get very obvious "mysteries" which is annoying, but usually worth putting up with in my opinion. This book just really fell short. The overbearing and self-important mother took over a lot of the book and I felt like the main characters were overshadowed by her. They ended up feeling underdeveloped, especially Gwen. Her character was just sort of bland. I enjoyed her interactions with the kids, but the build-up of her relationship with Miller barely existed, and she spent the majority of the time left completely in the dark as to what was going on, and as a result the reader is left with little information which made a large portion of the story boring.
The premise of this book was just so promising, but there were too many missed opportunities. The story could have been really fleshed out to add more mystery and excitement, but instead a lot of useless time was spent on the mother interrupting what could have been really interesting moments and conversations.

***SPOILERS***

A lot of issues come back to Gwen's lack of intelligence and character though. She is so annoyingly slow to pick up on things. First, when Shane disappears it's written so that it's glaringly obvious where he's gone, but she is completely useless even though she just had an odd conversation with him talking about lemons, making lemonade, and how far away the convenience store is. My biggest issue is when she finds her boss beaten in his office. He clearly says that he told the people after Miller that he and the kids were living with her, but it never occurs to her to call and warn him. She JUST left Miller and the kids at her house, her boss says hey, the bad guys are headed to your house, and all she thinks is that she should stay with her boss and wait for the ambulance. No thought of the fact that Miller, Shane, and Lauren are in imminent danger at all.... I mean, really? It just made no sense at all.
