Publisher's summary

Bossy. Heart of stone. Snarly mess next door.
Send help before I'm prick-matized....

My next big mistake has a name.
Warren Ford. Best kept secret in this weird little town.
An alpha's alpha. Spartan abs. Too blunt for everybody's good.
Moody, broody, mysterious, and totally up in my business.

I thought Heart's Edge would be safe.
No two timing exes. No pink slips. No hulking, loud, inked up -
Oh. Right.
Leave it to a badass to bring the drama piping hot.
Then he goes and saves a cat who means the world to my little niece.
Making me a mushy little puddle of wishes.

Wishing I didn't know his savage kiss like my own reflection.
Or how erasing tears must be his superpower.
Wishing I'd never poked his scary past.
Or heard him growl when he swears it's not our future.

There's no way this works.
He's no white knight. I'm no princess.
I need to go. He says stay.
Even our sheet-ripping nights can't work miracles.
Only an answer as the danger closes in.
Is Warren my perfect slice of hero?

From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Nicole Snow - a twisted small town love story. See how far a damaged alpha goes to claim the feisty damsel in distress under his skin. Full-length romance novel with a rollicking Happily Ever After.

Where’s the Story?

I’m sorry. Two hours in I gave up. I know men supposedly think about sex all the time, but two hours in that’s all we really know about our Hero. Maybe I’m too picky, but I want interesting, flushed out characters, or a story that grabs me right away, and hopefully both.
The story probably developed into something interesting, so if you have more patience than I do, go for it.

So So

Story drags on and on. Lady Narrator talks sooooooooooo slow that I had to adjust the speed on reading to almost double time, which made the male voice talk way too fast. Storyline too predictable to be enjoyable. All in all book should have been about 4 hours shorter. If the author reads the reviews she should really listen to Ms. Fleurs voice, which is pleasing, but the dragging tempo killed this book for me.

Good story but where was the editor?

Interesting story and good performances, but this book could easily been 2 hours shorter (and better) with some editing.

All except 1 detail was amazing

Absolutely loved the story. The only complaint I have is how the female narrator kept saying Spo-kane. Not Spo-Kan. Drove me nuts. Otherwise it was great!

Edward Thomas makes this book

Edward Thomas is the absolute best! He makes this book. His narration is so spot on...I believe every single word that he performed. In fact, I skipped Rita Fleur’s chapters 1/2 way through the book. Rita Fleur was decent, but her narration was sooo slow. It seemed as if she was only “reading the words.” She didn’t seem to be present and invested in this story. All in all, I liked the story—it ran a bit long in some parts. A good editor could have cut those parts out. All in all, it’s not credit worthy, but definitely audible escape worthy due to the extra slow narration by Rita and the long-windedness in some parts.

Just Okay

The story was okay, if not predictable. The female narrator was difficult to listen to because she sounded like a very young kid. When she did male voices it was almost laughable. The male narrator was great.

But sorry, the story was just okay.

Not impressed

The story was slow and kinda boring, the female narrator was awful trying to do the male voice!
The male Edward Thomas’s vole was niceee.
I definitely won’t listen to this one again!

What to say....

I'm listening to this because it only cost me $1.99 It's kind of so-so, not really good and not quite bad enough to give up on it. I'm not very far in, a couple of chapters so far. The narration is not very good, I feel like these two don't have a lot of experience narrating. The female narrator is worse, pausing in places where there should not be pauses. Also I feel like she's reading a children's book to a kindergarten class rather than an adult steamy romance to women. There's no feeling, she's not into the story at all, doesn't make herself the character, she's just reading words. Next is the author, it also feels like she hasn't got much experience writing romances. Again it feels like just words on a paper, things don't flow well, and there are holes and contradictions all over the place. For instance there's a whole period of lost time from when Haley goes into town and gets back home to find the blood on the door, stays next door for the night. Well what happened to the rest of the day? She went into town in the morning. Next thing you know they're getting ready for bed. I'd say there's probably about six lost hours there. We just kind of skipped that, not important I guess. And, when she got home and found the blood on the door she was going to leave but had forgotten that Warren was parked behind her. Really? When exactly did that happen? She just got home. Nothing was said about Warren pulling in behind her in the driveway. The way the story presents, it appears that Warren came out of his door of his side of the duplex they are staying in, not out of his vehicle that pulled in behind her. Where was the editor for this story, on vacation?

Great narration which is a must for any audio book

I really enjoyed this book with likable characters and a good story line with a HEA to top it off. narrators did a great job at bringing the characters to life which makes it play more like a movie in your head rather than a book. well worth the credit

Romance along with suspense

I loved everything about this story because the chemistry between Haley and Warren was red hot but the added tension of his investigations concerning his sister's death kept me engrossed right to the shocking conclusion. The epilogue was very touching too and top marks to the narrators for an excellent job in making the characters come to life.
