Publisher's Summary

I knew better. My heart doesn't care....

This wasn't supposed to happen. Marshal Howard is a death wish wrapped in mystery. Over six feet of hulking muscle that screams "leave me the hell alone". Cold, rude, insanely overprotective single dad. Everyone in our little town warned me to stay far, far away. I didn't listen.

I answered the castoff's nanny ad because no one else would. I got too close. I saw through his vicious reputation. I found the impossible. A call to reckless nights entangled and on fire. My destroyer in every kiss. A man who's turning my heart inside out, making me a fool.

So what if his pillow talk tears the stars from the sky and lays them in my trembling fingers? I haven't lost my mind.

If it was just the bad blood with him and my family, maybe we'd work through this. Maybe we'd find paradise. Just me, him, and that adorable little girl.

But surprises come in threes. Like the lines on the pregnancy test.

How do I love this beast and have his baby when fate keeps giving us a big fat middle finger?

From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Nicole Snow - a single dad romance with heart! Total stand-alone novel, an alpha male protector off his chain, and a heartwarming happily ever after.

Read it, loved it, listened to it

And I. Am. Dead! I loved Surprise Daddy before, had a major cry at some point, even, because hot damn, Nicole Snow surely knew how to sink her hooks deep into my heart... Listening to the story? Oh. My. Lord! This is the reason why this authors’ work is an instant one click for me, every time, and I hope she becomes yours too! And of course, Aletha George and Douglas Berger could not have been the perfect choice to narrate Marshal and Sadie’s story. Bravo!

Robotic Narrator??

Ok, I just purchased this book, literally like an hour ago. Wasn't familiar with either narrator, but went with it anyways. Let me see how to put this … immediately (immediately for real) the female narration of Chapter 1 sounded like a bad impression of some kind of knock off Siri or Alexa. I tried to slow it down, no luck. Sped it up, made it worse. I skipped to Chapter 2 - male narration was actually nice, Douglas Berger has a soothing quality in his tone which was pleasant. Skipped right away to Chapter 3 to see if Chapter 1 was a fluke - nope, same robotic female voice. Fast forwarded to chapter 27, 29, 31 - no change. Now, I am not a complete audio book snob even though I have my favorites - I will make myself suffer through nasally, scratchy, breathy, annoying, you name it - but robotic? Nope. I didn't spend money for that. I tried to figure out how to contact someone at Audible to see if it was maybe something like an issue with the recording or downloading, but I haven't figured out how yet. This book is being returned until if/when something changes - or I will just read it. Also, I know I gave it a 1 rating all the way around, which isn't fair to the story or overall rating since I didn't finish this book (didn't even get 5 minutes in), but the 1 for Performance stands (sorry Douglas). They just didn't have a button for "well it was weird to listen to Robot Speak and I couldn't do it".

No - Just - No

This is hard for me because I really like Nicole Snow. This book was just a flat out NO - I couldn't even finish it. First, a grown adult having to ask permission from her brother to get a part-time job - come on!!! Second, the female narrator her voice - nope -just NO. Sorry but that voice shouldn't be doing audio books.

🌻The ugliness of war 😡

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 The flawed characters , in this book, are victims of the ugly reality of war and uncorrectable mistakes. Therefore, a lot of the flashbacks have disturbing descriptions. There are instances of surviver’s guilt, fits of rage due to PTSD and plans of revenge. However, their are also beautiful demonstrations of a father’s devotion, protection and sacrifice. This is not an insta-love story, but rather, a slow burn growing affection and respect. This isn’t a great work of literature but, if you can overlook the predictability and the Hero’s ridiculously quick change of heart, you’ll likely find yourself reasonably entertained.

A new twist on the babysitter trope

I loved watching Sadie’s development in this book. At the begging, she seemed like a doormat. She was okay bending to her parents and brothers wills slightly. She seemed younger. Then HE comes along and he’s damaged. Marshall’s development is beautiful. There were times, at the begging, where honestly his PTSD scares me. I have friends who’ve served and they’ve talked about stuff and when he talks about things I see it as being very real. His drive at the beginning made me nervous because I was afraid for him. His development and love for his baby girl and his growing feelings for Sadie just made me want him to be better. He was easy to love. The narrators were good. They weren’t as well known to me but still easy to get lost in. I liked the performance and find no faults with it. So- Sexy times- all the time. Nicole Snow books equal sexy times guys. If you didn’t know, FOR SHAME! Go gather all those up and listen till your ears bleed. Wounded heroes- 2. Her brother is a grade double A juice box tho. Unplanned pregnancies- 2. I mean, he’s got one unplanned kiddo and the title literally says surprise daddy. This can’t be a shocker peeps. If you can handle a** hat and pointless characters then enjoy.

This book was frustrating for me. The narration was good, the problem was the storyline. There are parts in the book where I had to rewind to make sure I didn’t miss something because it jumped and made no sense. It made it hard to understand the story progression, timelines, and relate to the characters because you keep feeling like you missed something. The relationship of the brother is irritating and unrealistic. I kept wondering why people didn’t tell him to F*** right off, or how he could even have a wife who cared for him. He was abusive all around. The moms mental condition was not realistic and a bit insulting to real people who have metal health struggles, and artist who have artistic blocks too TBH. The H acted like the mafia or something was chasing him in the end and it was unrealistic and un- relatable. The love story was not developed, it was like one day they were just there and the next they were willing to die for each other. These characters changed their feelings, ideas, minds, personalities on the drop of a dime. I kept listening hoping it would improve, it never does. Save your credit or money. Nothing in this book makes any sense. However this author has a number of other books that are far better and I would try one of those instead. This was a let down in comparison.
