Publisher's summary

In the middle of America, Amy Lewis is on her way to her grandma's house. She's being chased by a very bad wolf. Galaxies away, Loki is waking up in a prison cell, strangely without a hangover and with no idea what he's done wrong - this time, anyway. But he does know that Thor is hiding something, Odin is up to something wicked, and there seems to be something that he's forgotten....

In this urban fantasy tale that is equal parts Dresden Files and American Gods, a very nice Midwestern girl and a jaded, mischievous Loki must join forces to outwit gods, elves, magic-sniffing cats, and nosy neighbors. If Loki can remember exactly what he's forgotten and Amy can convince him not to be too distracted by earthly gadgets, earthly pleasures, or three-day benders, they just might pull it off.

Loki is more than we were told

This story about Loki kept me listening almost nonstop! Who is Loki really, and what shaped him? There’s action and reflection both in this engaging rendition of Loki.

Interesting concept, okay execution

The first thing that struck me was how much the narrator sounded like Siri. Once I got past that I actually enjoyed the story. Interesting twist on classic Norse myths and even modern retellings of those myths.

It's good, but not my favorite

well I have read several norse books, and this is is well... different. but was a good story, well read and great for killing time at work. this seems like it would be better suited for younger generation.

Great book

It took a little to understand how the story changed form the characters perspective on who is telling the story but after that it was great. You may need to freshen up your Nors mythology but well worth it.

Well researched, fun romp through Norse mythology

If you like Norse mythology, you're going to enjoy this well-researched story. The plot is fun and interesting, and I feel like I've gotten to enjoy the characters all the more because I can tell Gockel has done a lot of studying on the sagas. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Entertaining story

I enjoyed this bit of a different take on Loki, Thor and Odin. The meshing of modern day, Norse mythology and fantasy is well done and very entertaining. Your heart breaks for the losses Loki has endured and you can see why he acts as he does. His intrusion into the modern world and Amy’s life is an eye opener for her and also the beginning of an intruding adventure. The narrator did a good job of both the male and female voices and I had no problem distinguishing who was who. This story has some good battles, intrigue, tension and humor. I look forward to reading the next in the series.
