The Demon Lord is dead.
The System is broken.
Somehow, Elias Hearthsong is neither of these things, despite being at the final battle of the Demon Wars. He is a Master Enchanter, perhaps the last one alive. Determined to keep a promise, he crosses the continent to protect his dead friend's legacy: a crumbling orphanage run by a beautiful kitsune.
He isn't a teacher, nor does he have experience with children. But with the love of a few good women, anything can become possible.

Loved the characters, loved the magic and skills system. The writing was very good. Comfortable and relaxed. I can't say I didn't like anything about this book. Like not even one. Which is unusual for me.
As for the two narrators..........
Perfect. Absolutely perfect.
Virgil has such a nice voice and reads so realistic. He doesn't sound like an ai/robot voice. He sounds like an actual person speaking with inflections and tones in places that make sense.
Jessica sounds so sweet and I love her characters' voices. She also seems to know exactly where tone and inflection and pauses in text should go. So many people don't seem to have that talent.
I am currently impatiently awaiting book two and I will be looking for more books written and narrated by any combination of these four brilliant people.
Keep up the good work.
Perfect slice of life

Crazy I know but for once this book truly deserves the accolades that have been showered over it. With that being said let’s jump into the review with the part you’re actually wanting to know first.
The Smut:
Varied just enough to keep things interesting and keep the reader realllly looking forward to wanting more. Something hard to do since most of us just expect the scenes and walk into them knowing “WHOOH sexy times” but for the first time I found myself really looking forward to reading the deepening of the relationships in that manner more than just the horniness etc.
The Actors:
Honestly some of the best I’ve heard in the variations and accents. Especially when some instances make the actors switch between three different characters they voice in seconds without a misstep. Also, there’s a scene where a child sneezes, the sound of the sneeze that Jessica Threet makes to emphasize the situation is both the most adorable and heartbreaking I’ve ever heard. Truly insane that a VA was able to make something so trivial into such a deep moment.
The actual plot:
Fantastic. This is REAL slice of life. Not slice of life that catapults into adventure territory while pretending to be Slice. The issues they face are understandable ones of nature, greed, resources, coming of age, and hope without giving up info that could spoil things. The way the history of the world and recent events is told as well as the quickly changing face of this new era and it’s troubles is done in some very meaningful ways. Not just a huge info dump, but flashbacks or long moments that truly accent the changes that were mentioned or discussed in real time to the characters.
Oh, and the pop culture references were just the absolute best seasoning on top.
The only negative of this review:
Usually I don’t even find a negative but I do have to say that the fact that in the middle of smutty action the entire train gets thrown into the sun not just off the tracks by a repeated and unnecessary info dump of skills being used. It would barely be acceptable if the user had not made use of the skill before and we needed a description but these are skills that were liberally used in previous scenes. We know what they do. I do not want for example mid thrust for the entire scene to stop to be told what essentially a cantrip/low level spell or more apt a Symbol spell does before attempting to get right back into the rhythm. Complete destruction of immersion during some of the most anticipated scenes.
Despite that I still looked forward to the scenes, just, with less enthusiasm.
Final review:
Worth the purchase and audiobook in every way. Minor tiny annoyance are not enough to ever dissuade me from saying this was one of the best of this genre I have read this far.
Thank you Annabelle and Virgil. I’ve read your works separately, and together. Now please excuse me while I go dive into even more fiction.
Believe the hype

The love that the MC of this story is from this story and isn't stolen from earth like many other harem styled stories.
The voice acting is spot on. They don't lead on that they are only reading the lines. They breath life into the characters they voice👍👍
