L.O.V.E.

I stumbled upon this author from a book recommendation from finishing another book. I'm definitely glad I took a chance on a new author! This series has captivated me since the first book. As soon as I finished the first I immediately got the second book in the series. I was up entirely 2 late 4 such an early morning the following day! I listened to the audio version. The male reader wasn't my favorite and annoys me at times but I can deal because the story line is just to interesting to give up. Besides most POV is Winter.
I'm off for the third book now. I'm so excited!!

Serial episode 2, not stand alone

Some spoilers in this review. Bailey still needs better editing to tighten up her writing; I believe GB can get there. For starters, there’s a bit of a disconnect in Winter’s reaction to being out of commission for a month and not immediately asking about her mom, Freddie or Jaxson. Also, if it was vampires attacking and Wyatt was there, just how is it Jaxson’s fault she almost got killed? I’ll stop there. There’s a lot that works, which is why I Kindled the ebook and bought the audio.

In saving her life, Winter has Wyatt’s mating mark and accompanies him to meet his father, the Vampire King.
Winter accepts Jaxson’s proposal and becomes his mate and queen. She now has 2 mating marks.
The Vampire King makes a deal with the black witch queen, who then kills Atti’s mother, the White Witch Queen. Meanwhile, the Vampire King uses his item from the Black Witch Queen to bring back Winter’s family who turn on him and take over his body. This gives him control over the vampire and human armies in readiness. Wyatt, Winter, Atti, Alex, Drake, Leah & Milo escape the ballroom coup for refuge with Jaxson. The story ends in a cliffhanger with war imminent.
Narration is adequate.

Such an awesome story! But...

I love this series! The plot is original and so thrilling! The readers though...The woman made just about everyone except Jackson sound the same and the guy would totally forget he was talking for Jackson and not use the accent. Not a fan of this duo for reading such an awesome story. Hope they aren't the ones reading the rest of the books!

Love!

I originally read this book on Kindle, but audio is my favorite way to “reread” series because I can listen in the car or at work.

Loved the book, loved the narrators. Definitely recommend!

Good storyline but....

The story line is good but the narrator takes away from the whole experience. Winters voice is annoying and the voices for almost all the men characters are just horrible. It gets kind of hard to listen to. Plus the characters were supposed to have an english accent and they didn't. That is why I gave it a 3.

Ok, this one is my for real favorite of the series

Ok, this one is my for real favorite of the series. The narrator hit her stride and really embodied Bailey's words this time. Bailey has a knack for building up the story and then rolling out the ending in a beautiful, interesting way! I will be looking forward to more audiobooks!

Winter's Kiss

The narration voices were not the greatest. Sometimes too whiney or too low. Jaxon's was good though.

Story is great but...

The female narrator gets on my nerves. Her voice is shaky and I have to speed up the play back quite a bit so that the narration doesn't sound like it's in slow mo. The male narrator does really well on the other hand and I find myself waiting for the pov of the guys so I can listen to him instead of her, which is unfortunate because her narration makes up the majority of the book. Still, as I said, the story is actually pretty good for a reverse harem and I really appreciate that it isn't all smut scenes. It's really nice that Winter didn't just jump into bed with all of them which seems to happen a lot in stories like this. Winter is also a decent character, not just an inserted Mary-Sue type, which also tends to be the norm for reverse harems. Plot is interesting and it gives an actual believable reason for the harem style relationship. A lot of action and humor.

Fantastic sequel

Loved this second book in the Guardians series. The story keeps up with the pace from book 1 and is even more addicting! Winter's story is truly one of my favourites and I keep listening to this series over and over again. Really excited for the third audiobook!

I liked the performance of the narrators better than in book 1. During the first it took me a while to get used to the voice of the female narrator but I felt like she improved a lot in this second book. I love the male narrator and I hope he will get more chapters in the following book!

Improvement from Book 1 in terms of voice actors!

If you could sum up Winter's Kiss in three words, what would they be?

Action, romance, reveals

What other book might you compare Winter's Kiss to and why?

Reminds me of Untamed by Tamara White, Winter Princess by Skye MacKinnon, and getting closer to the Vixen's Lead by Tate James. They are comparable because of the MC and the team of supernatural beings surrounding them. The dynamics are on point and get better as the series goes along.

Which scene was your favorite?

Hmmm. I definitely loved everything to do with Jaxson becoming King (the lead up/scene with Winter, the ceremony, afterwards).

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A lot of pressure for one "human" girl, but with 4 supernatural Kings at her side, will she prevail?

Any additional comments?

I thought Natasha did a much better job in this book than in Book 1. I also really liked Kevin's parts and hope for more in the other 2 books. Natasha showed a big range in Book 2 and her Scottish accent seemed better. I think it was also because Alex had less lines and I cant stand how Natasha does her voice.
