Publisher's summary

This academy is like no other...

My name is Lexi Cameron, and until three weeks ago, I thought I was human. It was all a lie. I’m a demon, and I’m signed up to attend The Demon Academy. I soon find out it’s the darkest, cruelest school around, and not many survive a full year, let alone three.

Welcome to DA, where, unless you are a high demon, you can expect to be treated like trash.

My plan? To be invisible and get the hell out of this academy, but it doesn’t work out that way...

I have one angel teacher trying to get rid of me, and with the students of DA making sure I know what a demon can do, I’m not going to survive Demon Academy for long. That is, until the Lucifer sons see me. They want to break me. They love to play games with my heart, and even if I wanted to run from them, I can’t. I’m apparently their mate.

And just like their father’s home, hell can’t be escaped.

Devoured this audiobook, great job all around!

I had read this story previously before it was out on audio and I liked the book, but I think the audio really brought it to life. I think G Bailey finally got back to her true writing self with this series, some of her others had kinda veered off a bit, but this one definitely hit the mark. I think she gave enough details and really created this amazing world that I am eager to continue reading/listening.

For the story, we meet Lexi who has a lot of crap going on in her life and it seems to always be shuffling/unstable to say the least. She does her best to navigate the Demon Academy and figure out who is friend and who is foe at school. I love her guys in this one, some more than others. I think Klaus is adorable, even if he can be posh and snobby. I think Javier is going to destroy my heart, and I think Morgan is going to be the biggest to fall for Lexi. I am undecided with Nikolai, but I am starting book 2 tonight so it might change haha. I loved the cliffhanger in this story, I mean I have my thoughts on where its going to go, but I like the big baddie in the story and how deplorable he already is. G Bailey didnt hold back, she made us a very true bad guy, some amazing tension and heat, and lovely world building/relationships with the side characters. I love Lexi and her wolf bff, they are adorable. I was shocked by the kitty cat, nice touch 😉

For the narration, this was my first listen of Lauren Sweet and I very much enjoyed her rendition. I think her strength lies with the ladies (she does a superb job with Amethyst, Lexi, and the horrible mean girls haha). I love her voice for the Lucifer boys. I think her weaker moments were with Morgan, but I think it was because the accent wasn't always consistent. I definitely give her two thumbs up, there wasn't a lot for me to nitpick, which is saying a lot! Adding her to my narrator list and already diving into book 2.

Recommend, great start to this RH series by G Bailey ❤️❤️❤️

Narration overdramatic and drawling

Story itself isn't bad, not up to par with what I expect from G. Bailey but the narration isn't good. The narrator has a good sounding voice and a range that allows for male/female characters but she drawls and over dramatizes everything. It's totally not appropriate for teens raised in the modern human world. I finished the book but ended up reading the second half instead of listeniny because it's very annoying.
