Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby comes an all-new family in her With Me in Seattle world! Hold on to your seat as we introduce you to Kristen’s new Mafia family!

As the eldest son of Seattle’s current mob boss, Carmine Martinelli’s life has never really been his own. But he doesn’t mind because his family means more to him than his life. Which is why he's determined to make those responsible for the death of his aunt and uncle pay - in inventive and gruesome ways. And what better way to do that than to infiltrate the Russian Mafia from the inside? It’s a good thing the bratva’s princess is stunning and seemingly willing to do whatever he asks. This vengeance could be the perfect mix of business and pleasure.

Nadia Tarenkov has several things stacked against her: She’s a woman, and she’s not the eldest child in her family. But it doesn’t matter. She has her sights set on ruling the syndicate, and she always gets what she wants. When the heir to one of the States’ most powerful crime families comes knocking, Nadia sees it for the gift it is. He thinks he has her fooled, but she’s smarter, more cunning, and always two steps ahead. She’ll beat the gorgeous mobster at his own game, and secure her place in the fold.

What neither of them takes into consideration, however, is that they aren’t the only ones with deadly plans in motion. To survive, they’ll have to come clean and work together - and acknowledge that the growing love they’ve been pretending isn’t there...is very real.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

I knew I wanted to give this audiobook a try because I love the With Me in Seattle Series and Kristen's other work. I am not a huge fan of Mafia Romance but let me tell you this was great and felt like "Mafia Light". I really enjoyed the main characters, they had a perfect balance of Mob attitude and regular everyday people. I really enjoyed their romance and banter and was rooting for them the entire time. Also even though I did know who the bad guy was, I still finished this book with "Wow I can't believe that just happened" on my mind. Great start to a new series, I can't wait for more about these crazy but awesome families!

The narration was good too!

Great listen 🎧

I could not put this book down, then when I finished it I wanted to forget how great it was an reread it like it was the first time. Kristen Proby has another great read and start of a new branch of the Seattle series. Nadia and Carmine are a great couple that I loved getting to know. Plus you get to meet new people to root for in Shane, Rocco, Ivie and Annika. Seeing the mafia way is great and these two learning to trust and count on each other was great. Can’t wait to relished over and over

Great narration makes you want to keep listening

Underboss

Mafia romance isn’t my favorite but I enjoy Kristen’s writing so much that I gave this one a shot.

It kind of goes like a lot of Mafia books do, two families that don’t get along, but the children fall for each other and grow up. That is kind of where it detours though and I have to say I am glad. I liked that it wasn’t like all the rest.

I like Carmine the best I think, I liked that he didn’t care that Nadia shouldn’t be his he is going to make it so. She can’t stay away either not matter how much she wants to. She doesn’t want him to see her as weak, and he only ever sees her as strong. Nadia is fierce and you don't want to get on her bad side if you hurt someone she loves because look the heck out she is coming for you.

It is an interesting story and that I didn’t see coming and glad I kept listening because wow.
I am invested, and I want to know what is going to happen to the other 2 girls!

The narration was awesome and just ok. I love Kelsey’s narration, and Tor isn’t terrible he just isn’t my favorite and that’s ok to each their own right.

A fantastic start to this new series.

Dark, dangerous and wickedly sinful. I love a good Mafia story and Kristen Proby has my attention!

Carmine Martinelli is sexy and smooth. Eldest son to Seattle’s boss, he’s got power and knows how to use it. As loyal as they get, Carmine takes his family obligations and responsibilities with everything he’s got. Wanting justice for a family death Carmine’s plan to infiltrate the enemy just may put him into a battle he might not be sure he can win.

Nadia Tarenkov is known as the Ice Princess. Daughter to the head of the Bratva, this girl packs a punch. She has goals that her position in the family doesn’t automatically give her but she’s more than willing to prove herself able. She’s willing to plan in the lion's den but she just might end up caught in an unexpected trap of her own making.

Underboss is a fantastic start to the With Me in Seattle Mafia Series. Carmine and Nadia are amazing together. From that first exploratory kiss many many years before you could see the chemistry in the making. Individually they are both powerful and together they are near unstoppable. Their attraction to each other is undeniable and their chemistry is beyond explosive. Watching them tease each other or try to avoid her feelings was almost comical in a way. Yet when you see them working together taking down people on their tail you see an amazing team. Underboss is dangerous and dark with some intensely romantic moments and combustible passion. Kristen Proby rocks this Mafia romance.

Underboss was narrated by the wonderfully talented Tor Thom and Kelsey Navarro. Together they brought another level Of intensity to this story. Tor Thom’s Voice is dark and sultry. It’s like a siren, keeping you listening, enticing you to listen to the entire story in one sitting. Both of these narrators are new listens for me and I was completely impressed. They very much do justice to Underboss.

Short mob romance with some violence

A bit too short a story with not enough epilogue. A really predictable, brutal killer and some cavalier attitude from the “heroine” about being attracted and beaten and about retribution. The mob princess deserved the rival family heir and he deserved her. Would have liked to have seen more interactions from them as kids and teens since clearly they were being thrown together. Interesting hobbies for them and looking forward to seeing more of them as a couple in the series. Narration was good.

Mafia Romance!!!

Kristen Proby and mafia? I am all in with this listen! This is the first in her With Me in Seattle Mafia series and I am hooked! Carmine and Nadia come from rival families. Carmine is determined to infiltrate Nadia's to find the killer of a family member by making her fall in love with him. But can he? Nadia may be his true would mate. Nadia is feisty, smart and has little fear. When she is in danger, where does she turn though? Who can she trust? And what is she going to do? These two have infinite chemistry and their banter is priceless. But besides that, the story is just fun, exciting and unpredictable! I can't wait to see what Proby has in store for us with book 2!

Tor Thom and Kelsey Navarro are perfectly cast as the roles of Carmine and Nadia. Thom has that smooth baritone that with a change in his inflections is lethal. He becomes Carmine, and brings out not only his brawn but his vulnerability, making him human and easy to love. Navarro is amazing as Nadia. This character has a lot of facets. She is strong, yet unguarded, smart and sassy and takes as good as she gets. Navarro hones in on every feel. This team brought the story alive!

This spin-off series is amazing!

Underboss will keep you guessing until the very end, while holding you emotionally hostage and unable to put the book down until you have closure. When I first started reading, I was nervous about the lies and deceit between the main characters, but it's all worth it in the end, I promise.

The dual narration in the audiobook takes the story to a whole new level. Bringing the characters to life and making you feel like your part of the mafia right along with them. This book was everything I could've hoped for and more. I was enamored with the With Me in Seattle series, so I was excited to dive into this new spin-off. It definitely reignited my love for the mafia and I can't wait for more!

Great listen, great book

I absolutely loved this book. It’s not your typical mafia book, I’ve found them to be quite hardcore, I’d class this as “light mafia” The narration is great and really easy on the ears. All in all a great addition to the Kirsten Proby collection. I’m looking forward to reading/listening to more of this series.

I liked it.

Underboss is a tame Mafia romance. I liked the storyline and the characters, I didn’t find it as exciting as I would’ve wanted given it’s trope but, all in all it’s a good read. I thought Kelsey Navarro’s narration was great but found Tor Thom’s to be somewhat robotic.

another amazing story

it took me awhile to get into the story but mostly because of the narrators are new to me. once I got past that well I was sucked in and couldn't stop listening. really can't wait for the next one in the series after that ending!!!
