Publisher's summary

From New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby comes an all-new family in her With Me in Seattle world! Hold on to your seat as we introduce you to Kristen’s new Mafia family!

As the eldest son of Seattle’s current mob boss, Carmine Martinelli’s life has never really been his own. But he doesn’t mind because his family means more to him than his life. Which is why he's determined to make those responsible for the death of his aunt and uncle pay - in inventive and gruesome ways. And what better way to do that than to infiltrate the Russian Mafia from the inside? It’s a good thing the bratva’s princess is stunning and seemingly willing to do whatever he asks. This vengeance could be the perfect mix of business and pleasure.

Nadia Tarenkov has several things stacked against her: She’s a woman, and she’s not the eldest child in her family. But it doesn’t matter. She has her sights set on ruling the syndicate, and she always gets what she wants. When the heir to one of the States’ most powerful crime families comes knocking, Nadia sees it for the gift it is. He thinks he has her fooled, but she’s smarter, more cunning, and always two steps ahead. She’ll beat the gorgeous mobster at his own game, and secure her place in the fold.

What neither of them takes into consideration, however, is that they aren’t the only ones with deadly plans in motion. To survive, they’ll have to come clean and work together - and acknowledge that the growing love they’ve been pretending isn’t there...is very real.

I knew I wanted to give this audiobook a try because I love the With Me in Seattle Series and Kristen's other work. I am not a huge fan of Mafia Romance but let me tell you this was great and felt like "Mafia Light". I really enjoyed the main characters, they had a perfect balance of Mob attitude and regular everyday people. I really enjoyed their romance and banter and was rooting for them the entire time. Also even though I did know who the bad guy was, I still finished this book with "Wow I can't believe that just happened" on my mind. Great start to a new series, I can't wait for more about these crazy but awesome families!

The narration was good too!

Great listen 🎧

I could not put this book down, then when I finished it I wanted to forget how great it was an reread it like it was the first time. Kristen Proby has another great read and start of a new branch of the Seattle series. Nadia and Carmine are a great couple that I loved getting to know. Plus you get to meet new people to root for in Shane, Rocco, Ivie and Annika. Seeing the mafia way is great and these two learning to trust and count on each other was great. Can’t wait to relished over and over

Great narration makes you want to keep listening

The perfect blend of suspense, intrigue, deceit, c

The perfect blend of suspense, intrigue, deceit, chaos and love. Kristen Proby gave us an excellent story and the audiobook made it even better. This was the first book in her With Me in Seattle Mafia series and I am hooked.

I was interested in Carmine’s story after meeting him in You Belong With Me. I love a sexy, confident man who has the capacity to love and kill for his love ones! Yeaaah he was definitely the full package.

Nadia was everything!!!! I loved this strong female. She has a lot of obstacles to face but the determination she wields when facing trouble at every turn made me fall completely in love with her.

Carmine and Nadia are probably one of my favorite Kristen Proby couples. The way they worked together, getting things done while still finding time for love with beautiful!

Kelsey Navarro and Tor Thom were both new narrators for me, but they worked well together making the story flow better!

I can’t wait for the next book, we got to meet some new characters so of course I need to see how their love lives play out.

KP's style of mafia romance!

I want to say that I’ve read a decent range of mafia romance and they toe the line of being quite dark, so it’s a welcomed surprise when you have one that’s on the softer side? Not sure if that’s the best way to explain it. Anyways, I definitely enjoyed Kristen Proby’s take on mafia romance in Underboss. I’ve dubbed this as KP’s style of mafia romance and I’m here for it.

Well everyone knows that I loved a badass heroine and that’s what Nadia is. And it’s even better when you bring in the hero, Carmine, that sees her as his equal.

Bring these two in for an enemies to lovers and that they’re from opposing mafia families, ohhhhh the tension and off the pages chemistry!

This was definitely a quick read and a great start to this series. And I know that KP’s fans will absolutely love this series. Definitely looking forward to the next one.

It was a first time listen for these two narrators and I'm quite the fan. They'll keep you hooked into the story from beginning to end.

Short mob romance with some violence

A bit too short a story with not enough epilogue. A really predictable, brutal killer and some cavalier attitude from the “heroine” about being attracted and beaten and about retribution. The mob princess deserved the rival family heir and he deserved her. Would have liked to have seen more interactions from them as kids and teens since clearly they were being thrown together. Interesting hobbies for them and looking forward to seeing more of them as a couple in the series. Narration was good.

Underboss

Mafia romance isn’t my favorite but I enjoy Kristen’s writing so much that I gave this one a shot.

It kind of goes like a lot of Mafia books do, two families that don’t get along, but the children fall for each other and grow up. That is kind of where it detours though and I have to say I am glad. I liked that it wasn’t like all the rest.

I like Carmine the best I think, I liked that he didn’t care that Nadia shouldn’t be his he is going to make it so. She can’t stay away either not matter how much she wants to. She doesn’t want him to see her as weak, and he only ever sees her as strong. Nadia is fierce and you don't want to get on her bad side if you hurt someone she loves because look the heck out she is coming for you.

It is an interesting story and that I didn’t see coming and glad I kept listening because wow.
I am invested, and I want to know what is going to happen to the other 2 girls!

The narration was awesome and just ok. I love Kelsey’s narration, and Tor isn’t terrible he just isn’t my favorite and that’s ok to each their own right.

Mafia Goodness!

When an author takes on a new genre it can be hit or miss. When Kristen Proby takes on the Mafia, I say "Where have the Martenelli's been all my life??"
OMG!! You Belong with Me hinted at the mafia hotness. Underboss blew it up and delivers with one of the best enemies to lovers books that I have read in a long time. Nadia is my hero. This girl is the definition of Bad*** she is all woman and then some. I love her take charge attitude and that she can get the job done no problem. The chemistry between her and Carmine is off the charts. HOT!!!! You can feel the passion in every chapter. Do yourself a favor a pick this one up audible too. Tor Thom was a new narrator for me. He was absolutely perfect for carmine. I mean he totally sets the tone.

This story was full of twists and excitement. I'm so glad more of this amazing family is coming our way soon. I don't think I could handle the wait. Shane & Ivy, I am counting down the days til' I can get my hands on their story.

I highly recommend this book. I am a fan of Mafia romance and an even bigger Kristen Proby fan.. You will not be disapointed. This is the very definition of a 1 Click Buy..

“What is it about the Martinelli brothers?”
“They’re too sexy for their own good.”

Not my cup of tea

I absolutely love Kristen's novels! I was hesitant to start this one because I really just wasn't interested in the mafia characters. after reading this book I've confirmed with myself that I'm not interested enough in these characters to continue on with the series. I feel like the stories ups and downs were not as good as the rest of the Seattle series. There was also no mention of our OG characters in the Montgomery family.

Yesssss

What a great story. I loved everything...the storyline which is a little different from Kristen's norm. The chemistry between Nadia and Carmine just jumped off the pages. The narration was fantastic. I can't wait for the next book in this series.
