Wolfe Conrad is in hiding, and he’s come to Huckleberry Bay to heal. A career-ending accident on the track nearly took his life, and now he seeks refuge to try and build a new one. The quaint town’s slow pace rattles the man who’s first love is fast cars—and then there’s the beautiful innkeeper, who rattles him in different ways. Falling in love with Luna definitely isn’t part of Wolfe’s plan. Local legends that tell of unrequited love and despair? Unbelievable. But stranger things have happened, like two strangers falling in love....

Who knew that weddings in Vegas were the real deal? I certainly didn’t when I agreed to marry my coworker while on a bender in Sin City. Now, I need a quick annulment, which means I need an attorney, STAT. Honestly, with a name like Grayson Sterling, Esquire, I expected an old man in a three-piece suit. But the guy behind the desk is anything but stuffy and old. Tall and sexy with tattoos and striking blue eyes, I simply can’t take my eyes off him, and I have no intention of declining his offer of a date…and more. So much more!

New Hope, South Carolina is my home. It’s where I grew up, got into trouble, and fell in love for the first time. Scarlett Kincaid was more than the girl next door, she was my best friend, until she decided that small town life wasn’t for her. The girl I used to fish with down at the creek is now the biggest name in country music, and I haven’t seen her since she left. Until today when she sped through town in her fancy car. One look at her big brown eyes was all it took to stir up a whole slew of emotions. Emotions I’d long ago buried and sure as hell don’t have time for.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

Everything changes the day Cassian Winslow joins my ghost walking tour and knocks my world off its axis with green eyes the color of the stone around my neck. Publisher's Summary
Sexy. Intriguing. Easy. Eli Boudreaux's family has built ships and boats in Louisiana for generations. He comes from a hardworking, wealthy family, and his empire is growing by leaps and bounds. At 30 he is the youngest CEO ever to head Bayou Enterprises, cochairing with his eldest brother. His head for business and his no-nonsense work ethic are also quickly making him the best the company has seen in generations. His staff admires him, women adore him, and Eli's family is solid. But he's recently discovered that someone on the inside of his business is stealing from him, and he's determined to find out who.
Kate O'Shaughnessy is hired by companies all over the world to slip inside and investigate every member of the organization, from the CEO down to the custodial staff, to find the person or persons responsible for embezzling. She's excellent at blending, becoming part of the team, and finding the weakest link. She's smart, she's quick witted, and she's now been hired by Bayou Enterprises, specifically Eli Boudreaux.
The attraction is immediate, and the chemistry is off the charts, but Kate has heard all about Eli's playboy past, and she has a job to do. Sleeping with the boss isn't a part of that job, even if just the sound of her name rolling off that Cajun tongue and the way he fills out a designer suit does make her sweat. Eli's Southern charms surprise Kate. The man whose reputation labels him as a ruthless, callous womanizer is not the man she's coming to know intimately. He's generous and protective, and he makes her smile.
Cracking through Kate's cool, reserved demeanor and discovering her love of sexy, expensive lingerie is a challenge Eli can't resist, but her sweet nature, love of family, and sense of humor pull at him in ways no one else ever has. But when the person responsible for trying to singlehandedly dismantle Eli's empire comes to light, and it's time for Kate to move on, to what lengths will Eli go to keep the woman he's fallen in love with by his side?

Just okay
I really wanted to like this story bit I found of lacking. I loved the setting and the characters but Kate's role to find the thief kind of got lost.
As far as narration goes, Rachel did a fantastic job, even putting on an accent for Eli's character. Sebastian is a great narrator but I think someone with a true Cajun accent would have been better. It made the story inconsistent and took away from the fantasy.

I really wanted to love this...but,
I am a die hard Sebastian York fan. I will listen to books just because he is the narrator. When I saw him and New Orleans (my favorite place) together I was thrilled!! And while his voice is still perfect, I hope he never utters the words Chere or Bebe again! You can not play a southern Louisiana man without a drawl! I still love him, but that was like nails on a chalk board horrible. To make it worse the female narrator tried (and failed) at the accent. This lead to a pretty bad disconnect between the two parts. Next time you need a Louisiana character, get Brian Troxel, he is amazing!
As for the book...sigh, lackluster, predictable, and at times just bad. The theme of domestic violence and rape were way to lightly thrown around which made the plot seem forced. Characters were far underdeveloped, one demential and average. All that said, if Sebastian York could have pulled off the accent, it would not have hated it.

Terrible Accents
What didn’t you like about Sebastian York and Rachel Fulginiti ’s performance?
They should ask how to pronounce words from this area. Cher is not Cher it is Sha. And the depiction of the New Orleans accent is just awful.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

HOWEVER.....the book was very good and I truly enjoyed the performance of Rachel Fulginiti....well done! Looking forward to the next installment.

Unrealistic and Predictable
Ok, so Eli is this so-called "manwhore" who supposedly never gave his heart to any woman and only had one night stands or certain women he'd hooked up with the scratch the itch. Yet, only MINUTES after meeting Kate, he instantly turns into a caveman and is all over her. All this in the first chapter, mind you. Uh... Yeah. The rest of the story was 70% sex and 30% actual story. I love a good sex scene as much as the next person, but it was just missing that element to keep me interested. I haven't even finished it yet (I have an hour left) and I'm in no hurry to finish it. After all, I already know how it's going to end, so I'm in no rush. Instead of blocking out the world while on the edge of my seat anxiously listening, I'm searching for my next listen - hopefully something much better.
Just so that you can have a better idea of what I consider to be good, no, GREAT (everyone has different tastes and I find that this helps other's better interpret my comments. While this book wasn't my thing, it may be for someone else...) I absolutely LOVE Sylvia Day's Crossfire series, The On Dublin Street series by Samantha Young, Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon, 50 Shades series by E.L. James, The Blackstone Affair series by Raine Miller, Thoughtless series by S. C. Stephens, the Real series by Katy Evans, the Falling series by Jasinda Wilder, and of course - The Game Maker series by Kresley Cole (My absolute favorite is book 2, The Master - Awesome!!!!!!!) Hope this helps! And if you haven't listened to any of these, you really should! You have no idea what you've been missing!

Awful!
I suppose somewhere between the gratuitous sex and the unnecessary cursing, there was a story line. However, I could not dig deep enough to find it. I bought this audiobook because of the male narrator. He is the only reason I listened to more than a few chapters. I regret this purchase. The writing is atrocious.

Fun mix of best friend's brother and boss romance
Fun, sexy read that perfectly blends the sub-genres best friend's brother and boss/employee romance.
It was a light, easy read that I will definitely return to when I need something breezy.

Boring
I couldn't get through it. The narrator for The guy didn't even try to capture his southern character, which would have been fine if the narrator for the woman hadn't read him that way -- no coordination. But no narration could've made this weak writing worth listening to. I could not care about these cardboard characters or the insipid plot.

Narration makes for a very bad experience
I won't even speak about the story because the narrators won't let me focus on it. Nobody can deny Sebastian York has a delicious voice, but he lacks some depth and can't do an accent for the life of him so in this case it's better he didn't even try. Rachel Fulginiti did try the accents but she was so bad at them, especially the creole, that it was a painful listen. The disparity of only one narrator doing the accents is also unforgivable in terms of production.

Needed more development
I don't normally write reviews, but this book was a tad frustrating. Though I did enjoy the characters, I wish the actual story had been better developed. There could have been more intrigue involved in her investigative job. It was almost as though she stumbled upon the culprit she was hired to find.... and the culprit ended up being someone Eli, or anyone if his siblings could and should have been able to discover on their own, without Kate's help. Having experience in investigating embezzlement within a company myself, that part of the story just wasn't plausible. I felt that it made the characters seem unintelligent, and uneducated leaving the story lacking for me.
Also, (and I say this as a huge Sebastian York fan... beyond huge... like 'read the phone book to me pretty please Mr. York' huge) but the fact that Rachel gave Eli a cajun/creole accent that didn't carry through into Sebastian's reading was confusing. (But I still love that voice!)
The family is great and the bones were there, but the story around the love story fell flat and I feel that hurt the character development. Another factor may have been that the author was trying to set up the sequel books in this series and all that detail also made the story confusing.
There were tender moment between Kate and Eli and I liked them as a couple, but I wish there had been more story to accompany the love story.

If you loved kristen Probys Monthomery series you'll love these . Sometimes the stories are a bit ' samey ' but that works for me . I'm now going to sit back and enjoy the whole series and I'm looking forward to it. They are all ' feel-good' books and sometimes that's just what's needed.

Feel good listening
I enjoyed this a lot.
Loved the characters, and it's well read by the narrators. A very engaging story, I'm interested to hear how the the bigger story pans out with the other characters in the story, which is the mark of a good series.
I will definitely be getting some of the following books.

Any additional comments?
A lovely story with beautiful characters, Eli and Kate have great chemistry, the story is a little predictable, but enjoyable with a couple of twists and turns. The rest of the characters complement each other and I'm sure I'll enjoy reading more about the extremely sexy brothers. I am a fan of dual perspective and I loved reading both Eli and Kate's perspective. I would have liked to have had the story follow through on a couple of issues which I felt hadn't been answered. Seemed a little incomplete and rushed in places.

Anther great Book
Well done Kristen, loved this story, and having been to the French quarter myself a few years ago I could picture the scenes described. I can't wait for the second book. The narrative was good, I like having two voices it definitely makes the book more realistic.
