Publisher's Summary

Nellie Rivera is trading traffic for tranquility. When the quiet streets of small-town Montana beckon, she leaves Denver behind and moves to Calamity. It would be the perfect adventure, if not for Cal Stark.

When her arch-nemesis dares to show his face one Saturday morning, declaring he is moving there too, she vows to make his life a misery. The town isn’t big enough for the both of them, and besides...she was here first.

Cal has been a thorn in her side since high school. He might have bullied her back then, but she’s not a modest teenager anymore - and she's learned a few plays of her own. If all goes to plan, she’ll run the former pro quarterback out of town within a month.

There’s only one problem. Cal has the same plan. He wants Calamity bad enough to pull out all the stops. And after one kiss, she realizes that he doesn’t play fair.

Bullying by both parties

I loved the Calamity series, but this book is my least favorite. You have two people, Nellie and Cal who cannot get their lives together. They have a hate/sex relationship. I found this book more difficult to listen to because of the pull of their attraction and the down right ugly behavior they have toward each other, especially in public. I found the female performer a little too breathy at times, especially when it was not called for. Otherwise the Audio performance was very good. Despite the off putting push and pull of Cal and Nellie I did listen and was happy when they finally did find the HEA. SPOILER AHEAD.
....
....
.....
They spent the whole book fighting and having sex until the final chapters of the book. I would have preferred they try to make the relationship work before the ending, but I am not this talented author, and who am I to second guess her writing! It was worth the purchase.

Love Willa Nash but female narrator is not good!

Unfortunately the female narrator mad it hard to listen to this story. Maybe she can have a new female narrator to redo the female part? Connor Crais is always awesome!

Great story, entertaining.

The Bully left me wanting more of Cal and Nellie. Fun, flirty and sexy book that kept me entertained from page one to the last page. I can always count on this author for a great story.

Frenemies

Cal and Nellie have known each other since high school but misunderstandings have kept them from being friends but not hookups. They have a lot of chemistry but keep it hidden. There's so much to this story and it's wonderful! I enjoyed Connor Crais' narration. This was the first time I've listened to Cindy Kay and I'm not really a fan of her narration. I'm looking forward to Lark's story.

Fabulous

Willa Nash (Devney Perry) does it again with this next story in her Calamity series. She brings gritty, believable teenage angst to life as her characters grapple with the resulting dynamics much later in their lives. She takes a character who should be hard to love, and makes them all the more lovable in the end. This author is easily one of my all-time faves. Can’t wait to see what she writes next!

was okay book

I struggled with this book for a few reasons. female narrator was irritating and the heroine came off as whiney and unrelenting in her passed feelings.

only ok

The female narrator isn't a good fit for the character. Nelly is supposed to be in her early 30's but the narrator sounds like she's 45+

LOVE Devney Perry, but not this female narrator

For the 1st time a Devney Perry book has a narrator I don't care for. The male narrator was very good. The female narrator was disappointing. Her variations for different characters were either a whisper or talking WAY too fast. In my opinion shes not a good choice.

Love and hate

Talk about enemies to lovers! Nellie and Cal have hated each other since high school, but this is without a doubt a case of a thin line between love and hate. Cal was the rich, cocky jock in their private school, while Nellie was the scholarship kid who nobody wanted there. Cal was honestly always drawn to Nellie but he was more worried about his status. Nellie was drawn to him to but it doesn't take much to hate the boy who you think is torturing you. One night changed that dynamic when they sleep together and then everytime they get too close the past repeats itself only to fight each other 20 minutes later. Can these two learn to live in the same town, while they hate each other, sleep together and hate each other every other week? Cal is not who Nellie ever thought she knew, will she finally see the real him?

It's a no for me

Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of this series. I have listened to the first 3 books over & over. They're all favorites. It's a great series! I love Willa Nash!
Having said that, The Bully is a major letdown. The story is ok. I absolutely can't stand Nellie. She's so woe is me, whiny, & outright mean most of the time. I didn't find her likeable.... ever. I honestly felt bad for Cal. Funny, considering he's the Bully.
And the narration... I love Connor Crais & he did a great job as Cal! But the female narrator is terrible & a big part of the reason I didn't like the book. I couldn't get past her voice. I sped up the narration to 2.0 every time she was speaking. i couldn't stand to listen to her any longer than I had to.
I"m seriously bummed.

DNF the audio, poor female narrator

First of all, I love Willa Nash/Devney Perry and have many of her books on audio and have read most of her books. I have also diligently been waiting for this book as Cal(MC) was getting redeemed as a character (please read first 2 calamity books for his mentions) and love the qwirky world that Willa built in Calamity as well as the colorful characters. Unfortunately the audio was a let down... I gave up after an hour and DNF.

Audio Cons:
The female narrator- her pacing is awful, sounds like she's whispering everything, voice is grating.
*The pacing between the f pov and m pov is not done very well, I had to constantly adjust the speed between povs; it detracted from the story.
*Since the female narrator reads in a whisper, I had to constantly adjust the volume
*The female narrator representation of Nelly(FMC) is poor, I had to stop before I hated the character.
