Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author Devney Perry, writing as Willa Nash, comes a small-town stranded-together romance.

Kerrigan Hale’s personal life is about as exciting as a bucket of tar. With hard work and hustle as her steadfast companions, who needs romance or adventure? Her empire in Calamity, Montana, isn’t going to build itself.

For years, her mentor - and investor - helped make her dreams come true. Until his unexpected death put her fate in his grandson’s hands. A brazen billionaire, he seems intent on ruining Kerrigan’s life.

But if Pierce Sullivan thinks she’ll go down without a fight, he’s sorely mistaken. Pushed to the extreme, she drives to his ritzy mountain lodge to force the arrogant You Can Call Me Mr. Sullivan to hear her out.

No sooner does she arrive than a snowstorm traps her with Pierce. Stranded together for days, she’s in for the battle of her life. Pierce is nearly irresistible by candlelight. Without his suits and fancy cars, he’s almost human.

Except only a fool would let down her guard. And Kerrigan can’t risk her future. Not when she doesn’t know if he’s out to pilfer her dreams...or to steal her heart.

❤️ A SWEET, FEEL-GOOD, LOW-ANGST ROMANCE ❤️

Calamity’s Property Entrepreneur Kerrigan had a wealthy mentor whose faith in her abilities drove her on, inspired her and he lent her money too.. but, when the elderly successful businessman suddenly dies, his estranged Billionaire Grandson Pierce inherits everything. The damaged Businessman drives from Denver Hellbent on severing her ties to his Company, wrecking her plans and dreams and collecting on her debt.. so bankrupting Kerrigan. And the first few times Pierce and Kerrigan meet it’s battle lines, angry glares and heated words.. however, Fate and Destiny interfere giving them a chance to act on the chemistry that’s been sizzling and flaring between them. And the mega snowstorm that Fate flung their way was overkill and clearly her showing off.. but it allowed them to talk freely, lower walls, let go of their hostilities, clear-up misconceptions and really get to know each other.. and what they discovered was love.. undeclared love.

But Billionaire Pierce Sullivan was holding a big secret close to his chest.. a commitment that stops him asking for more.. something important that drew him back to Denver.. and that just about broke Kerrigan’s heart. This man will be back.. he will be willing to reveal his secret.. he’ll show all his cards.. and he will hopefully claim his woman.. but will she be waiting.. or walking away?

Worth a credit? Yes I really enjoyed this feel-good romance where a drool-worthy hotshot Billionaire meets a sweet sassy woman with small town charm. It was a wee bit insta but sweet sentiments, adult conversations, sexy times and a soul-to-soul connection easily moulds and meanders through a low-angst listen. And the awesome dual POV narration by Ava and Aiden were perfect for the characters. And whether this author is writing as Devney Perry or Willa Nash it’s a ’one click’ sure bet for me.

Oh So Fabulous!!!

Kerrigan and Pierce!! Oh oh my! I was so excited for this book as I really liked Kerrigan so far throughout this series, and the confrontation that we witnessed with her and Pierce in the last book, had me impatiently waiting. Well I was not disappointed!! I truly did not like Pierce, and the pain that he was causing Kerrigan, really made me not like him. He was arrogant, angry, unyielding, and mean. However, the more I got to know him, he started to win me over. Kerrigan was a super star. She was real and raw through most of the book, and I loved that she defended herself when it came to what she wanted. Kerrigan fought and showed who she really was, and Pierce slowly began to thaw. Willa Nash kept me guessing with what was really going on, and I did not expect what came, twice, but it was beautiful. Willa Nash has a gift for making you feel what her characters are feeling, and she can also make you fall hard for the side characters too. I loved the fact that this relationship did not start off good, and the build was exhilarating. I fell in love with Pierce, and Kerrigan is an amazing woman who held tight to her dreams. This book was fabulous! One of my top reads of the year.
The narration in this book is fantastic!! Ava Erickson adds so much to her characters that it is easy to get lost in her voice, and Aiden Snow(Please hold while I fan myself) has one of the hottest voices in the business. With these two narrating you always know which character is talking and you do not get lost. Great choice for this title!!!

Love

4.5 stars! Oh Mr. Sullivan how hot you are! There is just something about Pierce Sullivan that draws you in despite being an arrogant jerk to Kerrigan. I didn’t really understand how Kerrigan formed such a bond with Gabriel that he financed her entrepreneurial aspirations and obviously Pierce had his thoughts. Believing his grandfathers reasons to not be completely professional, Pierce wants all ties cut to Kerrigan’s loan when he inherits the debt. Little did he know this little spitfire has as much drive and passion for her business as he has for dumping it. The complexity of Pierce’s past is unthinkable and once the truth is out, Kerrigan finally understands. Can she forgive Pierce for drawing her into a passionate weekend and disappearing? Their story is is about letting go of their past and learning to focus on priorities, but these lessons are never learned without heartache. There is so much love surrounding Pierce and Kerrigan. I enjoyed watching them grow together.

Love!

If Willa Nash/Devney Perry writes it, I am going to read it! I love the slight suspense, the characters, and the amount of spice.
This book follows Kerrigan and Pierce. I loved their connection and how they communicate with each other. I liked Kerrigan as an FMC and her growth throughout the book.

Read this if you like:
* forced proximity
* protective MMC
* romantic suspense
* dual POV
* small town romance
* second chance

Narration is 5/5. Ava Erickson and Aiden Snow did a fantastic job with narration! I highly recommend!

So good!!

I’m loving this series so much! Kerrigan and Pierce were the definition of I want you but can’t have you. Him saying “just one more night” but it always ended up being more was just so romantic. He was drawn to Kerrigan from the moment he met her. Their love was so strong and I loved their family at the end!

Narration was amazing. Both voice actors did a wonderful job. A great audio!!

Forced Proximity

I wasn't expecting a specific trope to happen 50% into this book, but it worked. I liked how strong and tenacious the FMC, Kerrigan, was throughout this book. She also had a backstory that made me teary-eyed. Pierce did his much-deserved groveling and redeemed himself. His only red flag was that Kerrigan’s cat, Clementine, didn't like him. Perfect Narration!

The Brazen: Calamity Montana #3

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

I'm not sure how I feel about the storyline itself, but the narration was fabulous (5+ STARS)!

Mainly, I'm a little blah about the connection between Kerrigan & Pierce. It just seemed to happen without a journey, which made it come across as insta, which would have been perfectly fine except for the history. The story came across as starting in one direction then doing an about-face without any sort of bridge connecting the two.

I know ... weird, right? Well, it gets weirder when the 'building' of their relationship happens more off the page than not. There was a point where I thought maybe I should start over because I accidently fast forwarded somehow and missed something vital.

There's deep emotion built into this story, and that felt very Devney Perry to me and also the whole small world circumstance between Pierce, Gabriel and Kerrigan felt very Devney as well, but the overall execution of the story did not, in my limited experience with Devney's writing that is.

The story still carried enough likeability and community growth to keep me interested until the end, so there's that :) I can't wait to jump straight to Nellie's audiobook. I think her and Cal are going to be fire!

The story itself only rates 2 maybe 2.5 STARS when I put this all together but because this was a *listening* experience for me rather than just *reading* and the narration by Ava Erickson & Aiden Snow was so perfectly done, overall, The Brazen is a solid 3 stars for me.

Worth the Credit!

The Bribe is well worth the credit, but isn’t my favorite in this series. Devney Perry’s books are so great, even those with less oomph compared to her others are head and shoulders above most romance authors. She always manages to surprise me…and there were a couple of big surprises in The Brazen. Thoroughly enjoyed the read…Snow and Erickson gave wonderful vocal performances. You should read the series in order!
