Publisher's summary

Darwin, a video game addict, is sitting in his bathrobe and slippers playing his favorite MMO on a Christmas night when an uninvited guest breaks into his house to steal his belongings.

After the scuffle is over he finds himself transported into one of the sword and magic RPG-style MMOs that he has always loved to play, albeit one he has never heard of, where he has to overcome trials and tribulations at every turn as he fights for his life alongside new companions.

awesome

its a interesting story, has plenty of plot twists and so far I'm enjoying the book, and pretty good story so far,
if you enjoy portal fantasy litrpg with vrmmo you will enjoy this series , main character seems a little overpowered but still it has some decent humor in the book as well.

this is the amazing starts to a new series

this is an amazing start to a new series I can't wait until the next one comes out I do have a warning and that is at the time that I try to download This Book The formatting system was such that you could only be download it into parts which will turn off a lot of people I urge anybody who wants to get this to First Contact Audible and make sure they fix this travesty this is a humorous light-hearted book which will climb the audible ranks once they have fixed this problem

Entertaining if not super original

Solid voice acting even if the storg uses a lot of tropes at this point. Points for gathering different fantasy creatures though not just the usual elf, dwarf, human and halfling mix.

not what I was expecting

this is a pretty good book the story jumps around a lot witch is pretty annoying but all in all is pretty good story ……. the characters are fun and some dumb but it has everything even if some parts are missing or skipped its not as good as The Land.. but would be in the top 10 pretty easy

surprisingly good

I have been listening to the lit rpg genre for a while now any I was actually starting to get bored of the concept. This book however came as a welcome surprise. I'm definitely going to get the rest.

Enjoyed the fun approach

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'd recommend the book to a friend because it's a nice comedy piece to give you a break from a lot of the monotony you see in books nowadays.

What did you like best about this story?

I really enjoyed that it had a really different approach, rather than a normal summoning, or VR experience type of story, it was a nice mesh done in a unique way.

Have you listened to any of Matthew Broadhead’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any other experiences by this reader so I can't compare it to his other works.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

For a tag line on a movie made from this book, I'd say "From a Bathrobe Night to a Bathrobe Knight"

Nope

I struggled to finish it. in fact, I didn't even finish the bonus chapter.

there are good things about this book but not enough that it's worth reviewing them. so, let's talk about the bad. One: how does the character end up in this world? it made zero sense and instead of making an interesting quest to find out, it turns into a shrug and 'oh well'. Two: There is no connection to the characters. In fact, you almost wish something tragic would happen to them to incite some interest in them. The main female character is such a mewling quim that I can't stand it. Three: Who is the protagonist? Is it the PK guild? Is it the AI? Where is the source of the conflict? Four: spoon? Seriously, it could have been funny but wasn't.

Great new series, must give it a try.

I think Charles Dean has a winner of a story here, half the time I was laughing my ass off, the other half I was just waiting for the next head spinner to come around the corner, I've spent the whole story so far trying to understand what the hell the main characters past history is about, he keeps giving you bits and pieces of it as it goes along, but it stays entertaining, I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out, thanks for a great book.

multiple leads tear me apart

man, I REALLY wanted to like this book. the thing is: there are a bit too many view points. just like in DnD or any slasher flick, YOU DON'T SPLIT THE PARTY. it breaks the immersion of the story and leads to bad things happening. here I am enjoying Darwin's tale, then it turns to Cass' tale, then Valery's, then the King's, then the PK Sadist's. each time I start to enjoy the story the author changes it to another person's. I can understand having two main leads, or even on the occasion using a random person to give an outside perspective, but this many was way too much for me to keep interest in the story.
This pisses me off because I was enjoying the main story.
I really wished that the summary gave a multi lead warning, so I didn't have to spend a credit then feel like crap for doing it.

Performance so good I got annoyed lol

This was kinda fun, my only issues are fully my opinions, the performance by Matthew was so good that when he had to talk like a valley girl chewing gum I was soooo annoyed I had to skip lots of that part.. I can’t stand people talking like that so great job from Matthew but I couldn’t deal with it so I skipped parts when that character showed up, secondly his outfit being a bathrobe funny at first hoping he would get a new outfit instead it’s an updated robe thankfully it’s not something we actually see but the fact he is in a fantasy place and can get armor he chooses a robe? GTFO, anyways lastly I didn’t like how many POV’s there was too many characters for my taste, I couldn’t care less for them but had to deal with it, other than that it’s pretty decent story
