Publisher's Summary

Newly revised version now read by award-winning narrator Sean Runnette!

From birth to death, The War is all the citizens of Dystance know. As children it is drilled into their heads that war is the purpose behind all existence.

Winter doesn't agree. She's stumbled across remnants of life the way it was before The War began, and now she longs to be as free as her ancestors.

With help from her best friend, Cedar, and the boy she is forbidden to love, Tallow, she believes she can do it. Winter can see a life beyond the Pickets, beyond the constant hunger and the threat of death, beyond the war machine.

Can one teenage girl and her dream of a better life really change the whole world?

Liked the Book

I liked the story but had a hard time with the narrator as, while he was good, the main character was a girl and it's so hard to listen to something in first person from a girl's perspective in a male's voice. He also sounded grandfatherly which made it worse. I would have preferred either a women narrator or perhaps both male and female for this one. Other than that, I enjoyed the story. It was unique.

SEAN GIVES THIS A UNIQUE TWIST! SURPRISE ENDING!

Well, I like how Mark rebranded this one...I see what he did...and I think I kinda know where he is gonna go with this one; Well maybe..Mark is unpredictable most times....But I like what I heard! I loved the old version too, this one took me a minute to settle into, because I had listened to the old one 3 times and was in love with the characters already, I could hear them in my head, the old way...lol I am huge Sean Runnette fan, so it just took a bit to get used to this way..and he did a great job, he gave the story a lot of heart, and humor...and he made me believe it all over again...Im really excited that Winter made it this time..and I cant wait to listen to the next one!!!

ANOTHER WINNER MR TUFO!!! I RECOMMEND!!!!

Brilliant

Worth 10 credits. I can't wait for the next one! Great story for teens to 100 year olds. Fun links to characters from the authors other series. Hunger game feel but with wonderful questions.

mark tufo and sean do it again

Sean is a wonderful narrator. The revamping of this book is awsome! Winter is a strong female character so many books lack.

Dystance is the Lycan Fallout of Indian Hill !!!

If you loved Lycan fallout after reading Zombie Fallout series; and loved the Indian Hill Series, then THIS is a must read! Narrated by our beloved Sean Runnette, Mark Tufo totally nailed this story line! Although they aren't the familiar characters from other books, their personalities bleed through the ones mentioned here. As I'm currently on the second book of this series I realize that this 1st book is just the tip of the iceberg. Well done Mark! Looking foward to finishing the next one and am awaiting the next "few in what could be a great standing series!

Wana be hunger games knock off.

Hunger games is a BIG step up compared to this drivel. Simplistic juvenile story, one dimensional characters, no hook. Powered though it expecting something given the good reviews, but alas it was not to be.. AVOID

Best book ever by Mark

This is easily the best book Mark Tufo has written. On top of a great story line, he did it with little to no profanity at all. At least, I don't remember any, and no blatant sexual stuff either. He proves that it can be done. Would whole heartedly recommend this book to anyone. I had a very difficult time shutting this book off each day.

A different but no less brilliant Tufo story

If you're a Tufo fan, this story is very different to his others but no less entertaining or affecting. If you haven't read Tufo before, don't expect all his stories to be like this. What is no different however, is his fabulous storytelling and wonderfully alive characters.

I listened to he original version when it was first released and enjoyed the story. This is definitely a smoother listen and he change to Sean Runnette makes it feel like a "proper" Tufo story.

better and better

Sean runnette narrates this tufo story wonderfully. having read the book some time ago and seeing that the sequel is around the corner I decided to refresh my mind and listened to it. the story is excellent and second time round I realised how well it fits into the tufoverse.
definitely recommended
