The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Story
An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

Story
For dinosaurs, it was a big rock. For humans: Coronal Mass Ejection (CME). When the Earth is hit by the greatest CME in recorded history (several times larger than the Carrington Event of 1859), the combined societies of the planet's most developed nations struggle to adapt to a life thrust back into the Dark Ages. In the United States, the military scrambles to speed the nation's recovery on multiple fronts including putting down riots, establishing relief camps, delivering medical aid, and bringing communication and travel back on line. Just as a real foothold is established in retaking the skies (utilizing existing commercial aircraft supplemented by military resources and ground control systems), a mysterious virus takes hold of the population, spreading globally over the very flight routes that the survivors fought so hard to rebuild.

Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

Kihrin is a bastard orphan who grew up on storybook tales of long-lost princes and grand quests. When he is claimed against his will as the long-lost son of a treasonous prince, Kihrin finds that being a long-lost prince isn't what the storybooks promised. He also discovers that the storybooks have lied about a lot of other things, too: dragons, demons, gods, prophecies, true love, and how the hero always wins. Then again, maybe he’s not the hero, for Kihrin is not destined to save the empire. He’s destined to destroy it.

Publisher's Summary
"Kill. Kill them all." It's the first four words Lars usually wakes up to every morning as the voice in his head nags him, telling him she's just giving him a "quest" that will help him "level".
But even if he wanted to do it, he can't. They're cultivators; beings with ancestral bloodlines that have powers he could only dream of and that may as well be gods while he is stuck as a puny human. Even if he could kill them, the people who bullied him, beat him, treated him like a punch-bag pariah for being the "tailless worthless human" that he was to them, he wouldn't. It just wasn't in Lars's nature.
That is, until a vicious group of murderous psychopaths called a "sect" descend on his village. The vicious group brutally kills everyone he's known his entire life, taking a select few with them as slaves. Lars must now trust he isn't going insane and find a way to complete the voice's quests and level up, so that he can save his mother from her cruel and heartless captors.

I hate stories like this
I hate stories like this. guy has a power or potential to be the strongest in the world but his morality of the power holds him back. its stupid this guy has some morals about killing people even though hes 18 and has been bullied and abused by the people he lived with his entire life. Also his mother i have to assume the same happened to his mother since he got his human traits from her so she had to have been bullied to even though the book doesnt say anything about it which is pretty dumb the villagers bullied a child but not the mother because the have morals about not hurting women or something? even though this world is set up to be ruthless and cold this guy grew up to be some 1/1,000,000 white knight who thinks this world is bad and everyone is wrong, considering his mother shouldve went through what he did i dont know who would raise their child to think in such a stupid way knowing what will happen when they get older. Like yeah ;Im going to raise my child whos human that wont be able to cultivate because theyre human to think that even though youre human and powerless and that a child at the age of 5 can kill them if they are 30 that no matter what everyone in this world is wrong and has been thinking wrong.
Not to mention who the hell lives somewhere for their entire life(18 years) and dont know theres a entire city less than 2 days of walking distance by them. Then this guy befriends a person part of the group who raided, raped, dismembered, then killed the people in his village IN THAT ORDER. like tell me What level of stupid do you have to be to make friends with someone like that. even if you you didnt like the people in your village the actions of people like that doesnt scream befriend.
This story is so bad i cant even.

Not Good but not Bad.
It is hard to describe what I feel about this book. There are sooooooo many issues mainly with the MC then with anything else. The best way I can describe him is he does not belong in this story at all. The way he acts to the “supposed” morals he has just does not fit with him or the story. I could understand it if the MC was an isekai protagonists. But there is no isekai or portal in this fantasy. Narrator was very good. Had a good range of voices. Glad we got away from soundbooth theatre.

Amazing new Cultivation Novel!
This book was an amazing blend of comedy and darkness. With the main character being considered Death's Favorite Warlock you have to expect something dark. Following such a character's journey can be interesting and I am absolutely loving this character development! Is this character going to stick to his morals or go full murder hobo? I felt like the narrator did a fantastic job capturing the feelings and excitement of the characters. I really enjoyed the book! I can't wait to hear the next one!

New story from the genius behind War Aternus
great story, interesting plot and complete characters with their own thoughts and motivations...
I'm extremely impressed how Charles managed to have a likable, even lovable main character slowly decent into addiction without him loosing the qualities that make you care about him...
I didn't even notice this till he had a character point it out it's that well crafted
Steve outdoes his already high standard here with the life he brings to the story and his ability to pronounce words I have too look up (though as the bloopers in the end show, he does need a few tries to get it right)

Great if you’re into the genre!
Loved pretty much everything about the audiobook and I also really liked the fact that the author didn’t give us a full start rundown every 10 minutes like other similar books!
Steve Campbell stole the damn show though! And the bloopers at the end made me crack up especially after that ending. Loved it 9.5/10.

Charles Dean Does It Again
I am a huge fan of Charles Dean. Every book of his has been literary gold, and this story is no different. I am counting the minutes until the next one is out. Intriguing story, loveable characters, and twists and turns that leave a reader/listener on the edge of their seat, make this a must read. The narrator does amazing work and really brings the characters to life in your mind. Well worth every penny!

A revenge mystery w/o any competent antagonist.
Although the dynamic between death and the warlock is fun, The ultra powerleveling with the only obstacle being the MC's supposed morality with the forced conflicts power zones based on cultivation is soon boring just straight up say its a cultivatiin novel with a system, instead of including warlock in the title, being a warlock should come with a choice that is pursued from a character standpoint rather than a plot contrivance.
