Publisher's summary

Bayleigh is addicted to her cell phone and her mom has had enough. After catching her sending a less than ladylike photo to a boy who barely knows her, Bayleigh's mom sends her away to her grandparent's house for the summer - sans cell phone, laptop, and iPod. Bayleigh thinks the summer will be torture without social media - that is until she meets the boy next door.

Cute story, but language

This is a new author to me and I'd like to read the series to see what happens next. Bailey's a typical teenager and I glad she changed when she stayed with her grandparents. I loved them! I liked that Bailey took a sign language class so she could communicate better with her cousin. I really liked Jace, but not Ian. I know Bailey had issues with her mother, but I liked her. It took a lot of strength for her to admit that she didn't know what to do with Bailey anymore before sending her to her grandma.
One little problem I had was with the language. The teens cussed a lot and I know a lot of them do, but the story was good without the unnecessary use of the f word.

Not for me

Honestly, this is a DNF.

I really like the narration of this and felt she did a really good job with the character, but the plot and storyline just wasn’t it. Like I stopped right before Bayleigh could make the rash decision.

Some people may enjoy this, but I just can’t stop thinking about all the misguided behavior of Bayleigh, and this just didn’t work for me.

Great book

Summer Unplugged: Summer Unplugged, Book One was a great read by Amy Sparling. Bayleigh is rebelling against her moms rules and is very addicted to her cell phone. Her mom has reached her breaking point and takes her phone away when she finds her sending photos to her "boyfriend". She decides to send Bayleigh to her grandparents house without her cell phone, laptop or ipad. Bayleigh believes that her summer will be pure torture until she meets the boy that lives next door to her grandparents. I enjoyed reading Bayleigh's story and thought this was a great quick read.

Cute

Love the narration! She did absolutely fantastic! The story embodies an annoying teenager but played out well. Surface level writing which is my favorite because it’s short so no wasted words on trying to understand a part of the character that you don’t really need to know. Good job!

What?

I have never bothered to review an audiobook before but this is necessary. This is hands down the worst audiobook I have ever listened too. The readers voice is grating. Wrong enunciation, no pause when there should be one, and just generally not enjoyable.
