Drafted by the NHL at 18, Jordan Garrison was headed for fame, and there was only one person he wanted to share it with - Jessie Caplan. He was crazy in love with her and had finally told her so. They shared an amazing night...and then everything fell apart.

Jessie tries not to think about the night she gave herself to Jordan - or how he broke her heart. She tries not to think about it, but she does. Especially now, when she's staring into his sky-blue eyes for the first time in six years. After so much time and torment, she can't tell if she loves him or hates him. But Jordan has learned enough to know a connection like theirs is rare. He was lucky to find Jessie once. No way will he lose her again.

Decent adult hockey romance definitely set up for the other books curious to see which other characters get their own story

Decent adult hockey romance

I loved this story. You don’t have to like hokey to enjoy One More Shot. I loved slow burn romance where it took a while for the hero and heroine took a while to jump back to bed. Although Jordan was a man “ whore”, He had to work really hard to get Jessie’s attention. Also, Jessie didn’t give in so easily which I found often in romance story. I also love dual narrators and they did a good job for bringing the characters to life. I highly recommend!

This could have been a sweet and sexy love story, but I couldn't feel anything that screamed true love. Jordan and Jessie met when they were 8 and fell in love as they grew up. He was her first, but not the other way around because he had a girlfriend when they got together and that left a sour taste in my mouth. Jordan was a star hockey player and bound to be selected in the first round of the NHL draft and Jessie intended to go to the University of Arizona to become a sports therapist. They were soulmates, or so it seemed, but after a most wonderful night, everything fell apart. I'm still confused as to what really happened to drive them apart because there were a number of ways that Jordan mucked up and any one of them would have done the trick. Jessie ran because she saw his ex-girlfriend kiss him on the lips at the NHL Draft. He broke her heart and he got butt hurt! I really didn't like him at all because once he got to the big leagues, he turned into the manwhore of all manwhores. It wouldn't have been so bad if every time she turned around Jessie wouldn't have had to face one of his exes, read about his conquests online and in the paper. He had no remorse, in fact he blamed Jessie for his numerous sexual experiences. There was heat in this story, but there was no warmth with the heat. I expected Jordan to feel a tenderness toward the one he loved, but he never did. From his inner thoughts, he continued to be angry and hold a grudge against her. He was still considering using a skank to get over her with about 15% of the story left to go! I'm just so disappointed because I had expected so much more.

Disappointing!

This book had so much back and forth with the characters. They just needed to actually communicate with each other. I feel like the character growth felt fake and forced because they just kept making the same assumptions and stupid mistakes over and over until suddenly they didn’t. Also the narrators sound like 40 year olds talking for 20 something’s. It just didn’t fit. I finished it but I’m not sure I will read anymore from this author.
