Publisher's Summary

What if Belle's mother cursed the Beast? As Old as Time is the third book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways.

When Belle touches the Beast's enchanted rose, memories flood through Belle's mind - memories of a mother she thought she would never see again. And, stranger still, she sees that her mother is none other than the beautiful enchantress who cursed the castle and all its inhabitants. Shocked and confused, Belle and the Beast will have to unravel a dark mystery about their families that is 21 years in the making.

Surprised me that I liked it

It surprised me that I ended up liking it decently enough. At first, it seemed to drag on to get to the point. But, once there, it became a little thriller. I liked the middle of the book very much. The end was definitely "twisted" in a way. But, I wish it ended less cheesy and more fairytale story like.
I think it would be a great next read, unless you have something else you know you'll enjoy more. It's good enough to pull up when you don't have other things to read.
Narrator was great.

Fantastic story!

I love the story! All the twist and turns inside are awesome! Being a Disney geek you can see the way the story began with Morice (sp?) and Belle and how it was the same until the rose and then the story takes a turn. It's a great and interesting tale and you get to learn so much if Belle' s mother was really the enchantress.

Disappointed

What disappointed you about As Old as Time?

Growing up knowing the story, I was excited about this story and exploring what was different. The book was just 'eh' for me, it was not what I expected. I felt like there needed to be more, leaving things almost unfinished for me. Especially felt like there were many plot holes and unnecessary need to drag on some scenes.

Has As Old as Time turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

What aspect of James Patrick Cronin’s performance would you have changed?

I would not change a thing, he did a wonderful job. Was one reason why I actually kept listening to the book. He caught my attention when I felt the book kept dragging and engaged very well in playing out many scenes throughout the book.

It keeps your attention.

I like the story, however, I don't like how weak at times the beast was potray in the story. The narrator's different voices at times would sound the same for different characters. I mean other then that it's a good twist!
