Publisher's Summary

The tale is told as if it's happening once upon a dream: the lovely maiden meets her handsome prince in the woods. The story has been told many times and in many ways. But always the maiden finds out that she is a princess - a princess who has been cursed by a dark fairy to prick her finger on a spindle and fall into an eternal sleep. Though her three good fairies try to protect her, the princess succumbs to the curse. But the power of good endures, as her true love defeats the fire-breathing dragon and awakens the princess with true love's first kiss. The two live happily ever after.

And yet this is only half the story. So what of the dark fairy, Maleficent? Why does she curse the innocent princess? What led to her becoming so filled with malice, anger, and hatred? Many tales have tried to explain her motives. Here is one account, pulled down from the many passed down through the ages. It is a tale of love and betrayal, of magic and reveries. It is a tale of the mistress of all evil.

The last book is the best

There were times where words had been overused, characteristics seemed to not match with the prior books and the story was unraveling too slow but it in the end the four books in this series told a great story regarding Maleficent and some other characters not known to us.

If it could only be animated...

Maleficent has always been my favorite Disney character. She in the only female viliain who is beautiful. Even if she's green...

This was an amazing tale showing her perspective and reasoning. Between the amazing writing and the great narration, there were parts I could see and experience like I was watching it. I plan on listening to the first 3. I just couldn't wait to listen to this one. Once I have more background I will probably listen to it again.

This is Malificent’s Story

I thought it might be difficult to take a Disney Tale with already Disney developed characters and create a new twist that didn’t seem contrived. Serena Valentino met the challenge head on. This is Malficent’s story.

In this series, there were 3 stories prior and we were introduced to other characters who play roles in this tale - some small, some large. However, I believe this tale can stand alone and still be understood without reading / listening to the first 3. That said, I am glad I listened to them! If you want a viable background story on Malificent and why she turned into the “Dark Fairy”, this is a fantastic option! Hi highly recommend it!

Lucy Raynor is the PERFECT narrator for this series. She has an upscale British accent, similar to Julie Andrews. Beautiful. Yet, she can do a plethora of voices and fun accents. My favourite has to the Scottish Brogues assigned to the Fairy godmother & her sister! Loved them. But, Raynor does a fantastic job on all the characters. I could identify most characters by their assigned voices. Well worth the credit. There is another in the series I’m going to grab!

Sequels and Prequels

This is a great story masterfully performed. I loved the prequel villains collection and can't wait for "Mother Knows Best" to come out. I hope Lucy Rayner will reprise her vocal talent when the following 2 sequels are released.

Meh

The story was alright, but in the end, Maleficent's story and downfall was not what I was expecting (and not in a good way). Another thing I should point out is that the author makes some references to her other books (The ones on Ursula and the Beast respectively) so be warned if you haven't read the other books as I didn't.

Awful narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The book was passable. I would not but it again. It had the most awful screechy narrator

Would you recommend Mistress of All Evil to your friends? Why or why not?

No, annoying narrator only passable story

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Lucy Rayner?

Don’t know any

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No
