Publisher's summary

We've all seen them: the people at work and at parties who always have a crowd around them. They are funny and smart and have everyone's ear. People gather to hear what they have to say and bring friends from rooms away to meet with them. To those who do not have such an easy time socializing with other people, they seem almost magical.

Have you always wanted to talk more easily to others without your shyness and social anxiety getting in your way? Do you want to know how to communicate better with others at the workplace, and to have your coworkers and bosses to respond to and respect you more? Do you want to learn how to navigate social events with ease, meeting and learning about new people, making friends, and gaining valuable business and personal contacts?

In How to Talk to Anyone: 21 Tips for Instant Rapport, you will learn how to strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime and anywhere. Whether at work or out on the town, with coworkers or with casual acquaintance, you will learn how to get people talking and keep them talking. You will learn how to make a good first impression on anyone, how to take the initiative when starting a conversation, and what questions to ask. You will also learn about unseen social forces that affect people and conversations, such as body language. How to Talk to Anyone: 21 Tips for Instant Rapport discusses the intricacies of giving a genuine smile and meaningful eye contact.

Master the art of small talk - an often unpleasant and dreaded task - and how to make it fun and informative for both you and anyone you talk to. Learn what questions to ask to keep people interested and talking, and how to make people feel comfortable talking to you. You will learn to get people talking about themselves (many people's favorite subject!), how to learn their passions and motivations, and to use what you learn about them to benefit yourself.

Finding commonalities is a great place to start

I liked what this book had to say about finding common ground with someone and starting conversations from there. Most people love talking about themselves, so if you give them an opportunity and an audience, they will automatically be more inclined to like you. It’s subtle and works on a subconscious level, but it really is effective!

Makes socializing fun rather than intimidating

I am one of those people that used to be intimidated by starting conversations. The thought of being in a room alone with a new person that I had to talk to was truly terrifying! However, after reading this book I have actually learned how to have fun starting conversations. It’s cool knowing what to do to be in control of the social interaction, and it can actually be like a game trying to get people on your side and win their respect.
