"Listen to Extreme Motivation and Total Confidence and start taking on things you don't feel like doing. The conscious mind can only hold six to nine bits of information at a time, but the subconscious mind is able to hold unlimited amounts of information. Train the unconscious mind to make the changes today."
Since using this recording, I have been sleeping better and awaking with more energy. I have addressed a long-standing problem and am on the way to resolving it. I have also begun a new exercise program, and I am feeling relaxed and confident about it.
Hypnosis works by distracting the conscious mind and making suggestions to the sub-conscious mind. On recordings, the suggestions are covered by the sound of surf, music, or other spoken material. Your sub-conscious hears what your conscious can't, and either accepts or rejects the suggestions, depending on your readiness to incorporate them into your life. It isn't magic, it's just support for changes that you are ready to make.
This recording contains one track of general introduction to hypnosis, one track of relaxation exercises, three tracks of surf and subliminal suggestions, and one track of fully audible review of the subliminal material. My only criticism is that the instructions suggest listening to the "title track" once a day for 21 days, but there is no way to know which is the "title track." Possibly this information was included on the packaging of the retail version, but it is not available on Audible. I contacted Brown's organization through their website to try to get this info, but I never received a reply.

I honestly considered ending my Audible subscription because of this "book". It is not worth its money and I feel rather cheated as a consumer. The sound is extremely bad and you can't understand a word (there aren't many words anyway and the rest is just ocean sounds). It's not worth the time listening to it. I should get my money back for it.

I disliked everything about this audio. All it was for me was a lot of unpleasant noise.
What would have made Extreme Motivation and Total Confidence better?
Very little narration, and what you can hear is very difficult to understand over the crashing waves. I have several other hypnosis albums that have been very helpful but this one is not. Don't waste your time or money.

This is the first motivational/confidence/self-hypnosis audiobook that I have purchased and if this is typical of the genre will probably be the last!
I found this very disappointing, the instructions on how to use the tracks did not seem to relate to the chapters that come up on my ipod and I found the pan-pipe type music on one track irritating and shrill and the tropical rainstorm on another overlong and repetitive - unfortunately the only motivation it gave me was to switch it off!
I also found the technique of using a very low echoing voice with overlaid music (is this subliminal suggestion and you are not meant to hear the words?) annoying as it was difficult to relax as instructed by the audible voice whilst straining to hear what was said by the quiet echoing voice in the background. Possibly not my best purchase.....

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
As this is supposed to be a hypnosis audio, it was very frustrating that I constantly had to adjust the sound so that I could try to hear the words. The rain and storm sound effects totally overwhelmed the voiceover meaning I had to strain to hear anything, which was just the same couple of sentences repeated over and over. The whole point of being in a relaxed state was negated.
Has Extreme Motivation and Total Confidence put you off other books in this genre?
Unfortunately, yes. I will seek more but none from Erick Brown.
