Publisher's Summary

"'You knew they were there, didn't you?' Kahlan asked in a hushed tone as she leaned closer. Against the darkening sky, she could just make out the shapes of three black-tipped races taking to wing, beginning their nightly hunt. That was why he'd stopped. That was what he'd been watching as the rest of them waited in uneasy silence.

"'Yes,' Richard said. He gestured over his shoulder without turning to look. "There are two more, back there." Kahlan briefly scanned the dark jumble of rock, but she didn't see any others. Lightly grasping the silver pommel with two fingers, Richard lifted his sword a few inches, checking that it was clear in its scabbard. A last fleeting glimmer of amber light played across his golden cape as he let the sword drop back, in place. In the gathering gloom of dusk, his familiar tall, powerful contour seemed as if it were no more than an apparition made of shadows.

"Just then, two more of the huge birds shot by right overhead. One, wings stretched wide, let out a piercing scream as it banked into a tight gliding turn, circling, once, in assessment of the five people below before stroking its powerful wings to catch its departing comrades in their swift journey west. This night they would find ample food."

Loved it!

In the past, I have not been a fan of Jim Bond's narrating. This book however, was very well done.

love the series, enjoyed this book

Jim Bond gave a great performance on a phenomenal story.

The Sword of Truth has always had an underlying political message, it's very obvious in this book.

worst sword of truth book yet

terrible story that crawls along. More of Richard preaching. Goodkind using Richard's war wizard magic to solve plot problems instead of actually writing a solution. More boring Jim Bond.

Women sound whiny and insipid

The narrative was horrid. Women all sounded like they were incapable and sometimes the men sounded lousy as well

Bond still rough.

Story was good. This is the first book that Jim Bond has appeared to understand what commas and periods are. He still sounds like a robot with few voice changes, but he is improving.

Blah

Preachy - one of my least favorite in this series thus far. Lots of repetitive dialogue and background info. Felt like a strange story between stories.

good story bad narrator

What did you like best about Naked Empire? What did you like least?

the story is great and he author includes alot of philosophic thinking. His characters aren't perfect but they have a certain morality that they stick to. The thing I like least is that it seems like the same thing over and over book after book. This series really didn't need to be this long

What didn’t you like about Jim Bond’s performance?

horrible.... different people are read in the same monotone. Phrases that should be read with some sarcasm or some kind of emotion are read with the same tone... I wanted to return all jim bond read books but audible wouldn't let me
