But while his friends make progress he struggles to overcome his doubts and insecurity. Even Queen Catherine of Wrath has her doubts about Falco's training.

amazing book!

I was skeptical about this book with such a mundane cliche title however upon reading/listening to it I can now say it rivals books like The Riftwar saga, Drizzt Dourden books, and even the Dragon Lance books from back in the day.

If you like fantasy and dragons then give this a try

Volume needs to be adjusted!

the first quarter of this book is next to impossible to hear unless you are wearing noise suppressant headphones or have it playing through a much louder speaker system. I typically use my Bluetooth headset to listen to audiobooks. I was nearly unable to do so at the beginning of this book. Also at the end of the book, several times the narrator's voice would just drop off at the end of a sentence and you are left wondering what he was saying. It's a shame about the technical problems, but the story is amazing! it was well narrated and the characters are easily distinguishable. Aside from the aforementioned technical issues, the story was immensely enjoyable and I'm sure is an even better read.

Stop whatever you are reading and get this one!!!!

Could not drop this book, the action is just draw dropping, it is so well written and The Narration is off the charts, i just wander why lots of people have not checked this book out, and i have to say, i have read over 500 books and this is the first time, i have ever deemed to write a review, that has to tell you something.

Don’t do that.....

It really ticks me off when a great story which is narrated great has quality issues with the recording. DON’T do such a disservice to the author and narrator. Awesome book, awesome performance, recording people should be whipped.

GOOD STORY, NARRATOR RUINS IT

I never leave a review, but I'm @ a quarter way through. Good story, but the narrator has got to be the worst I've ever listened to.
The problem I have with him is that he can't change his voice, when he tries to voice a scream it just sounds like an old man gasping for air. He does a great job of telling the normal parts, but trying to change his voice he sounds really bad

A captivating read from beginning to the end.

One of my favorite books of the year. An excellently written book with top notched narration. I was totally captivated to the end.

Words lost...

This was a good book and that it was written as a complete story is even better. The only complaint I have was that end of words and sometimes whole words would just dropped.

The narrator would be reading then sudd.... part of a word would drop off completely. This was made worse when ..... words went ........ Fortunately there were only a few places that it was really noticeable.

Overal I recommend the book.

Fantastic!

Made me laugh, cry, and smile throughout the tale. The emotions are amplifies by the reader's tone. Really great listen!

Great story with a zero star performance

I don’t usually write these but I cannot let this sorry performance go without speaking my mind. That being said...

The story was good, if not a little predictable. The story could have been easily broken up in multiple books with little effort, so it drags on at certain points.

The biggest problem with the audiobook was the “performance,” if you can call it that... RD Watson has only only one “character voice,” and that is as if he were being strangled. It was so bad that there were more than 12 occasions I rewound the story to make out what was being said.

In addition to the awful “performance,” he mispronounces many words. Several times the mispronunciations are so bad that it changed into another word that didn’t even fit into the story. I forget the specific word, but it was somewhere about 3-4 hrs to the end of the book. Another time there was a word used that changed the whole meaning of the sentence. I’m quite certain that the word was wrong, because it went counter to the preceding and following sentences. I’m sorry I cannot give exact examples, but let’s just say the person who selected the narrator really dropped the ball with RD Watson. If I could, I would give a zero star on performance.

good story but issues in narration

enjoyed the story very much but the narrator mispronounced words intermittently and many sections we're repeated. Greater care needed in editing and quality control

Great story but rather bad performance.

Loved the story it captivated me and I finished the whole book in under three days.
The only draw back was narrator's performance,
He has a very pleasant voice but at times I had hard time keeping up with him.

Feel good fantasy

I had a good time listening to this book. There is struggle in the story but in the end it's a feel good book. There a few audio issues (words dropped out, sentences repeated), but none too bad.

Fantastic Book - Not so good recording

I absolutely love the book, it's one of the best Fantasies I've read in a long time. The narrator does a good job for the most part- only fault I had there is that the women sounded like wheezy old men.

The main problem is in the recording itself. It's quiet even at full volume and a lot of the words have the endings clipped off which can be quite frustrating at important moments.

Still, it's a fantastic story so I'll hope Audible can get the recording of it fixed.

Wow what a great book!!!

Would you consider the audio edition of Battle Mage to be better than the print version?

I love audio books so.... it’s hard to say

What was one of the most memorable moments of Battle Mage?

What a great ending!!

What does RD Watson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Wasn’t the greatest fan of the narration: Loved his voice and accent just wasn’t a mad fan of him speaking for the characters, he gets better as the book progresses

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Being male most would not admit it but I laughed and cried throughout, cried from both sadness when a character is lost and from happiness,

Any additional comments?

This book is so well written!! You fall in love with the characters and feel like there family, this book has been an emotional roller coaster that I have thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend it to anyone, it’s a long book but that makes it almost better as they can go into more description and detail of characters and plot, I see this as a must have in the library!

Deft Approach To A Classical Premise.

What attracted me to the story was the long run time that was set within a fantasy world. Looking for a story to escape for awhile and keep my consciousness within it.

this story does that on so many levels, while alot of the 'twists' can be seen though.Do without spoiling too much I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and recommend Battlemage as a good listen.

Wonderful story let down buy terrible editing

A true epic fantasy. Unfortunately some sentences have been clipped so you only hear half of the last word. Regardless, I really enjoyed the plot and I’m hoping we see more of Falco Dante.
