Rob didn't think of himself as anyone special, but when a pitch-black portal tried to wrap his best friend in chains, he stepped up without thinking and found himself ensnared instead.

His moment of heroism results in being torn away from everyone he knew and loved, kidnapped by an unknown force that leaves him with a note in his pocket stating: "Good luck."

After being thrown into the wilderness of Elatra, a hostile fantasy world ruled by levels, stats, progression, and bizarre video game logic, he finds himself entirely out of his depth. Armed with nothing but a sword and the clothes on his back, he sets out on his the first day, and almost dies. On the second day, he almost dies again. On the third, he began to notice a worrying trend. And almost dies.

It doesn't get any easier from there.

Overcoming the wilds is just the first step in his journey; the society of Elatra is incredibly hostile to humans, having just come off of a devastating war that left over half the population dead, and getting the locals to trust the last human in existence is a struggle in and of itself. Between being powerless in a world that hates him and suffering under a System that is altering his mind in unwanted ways, Rob quickly finds that monsters aren't nearly the biggest thing to worry about.

As far as LitRPG isekai adventures go, Rob drew the short straw in many ways. But that's okay - all the bullshit in the world won't keep him down. He'll carve out a place in this world with his bare hands if necessary. He'll survive, and then he'll thrive.

Whether anyone wants him to or not.

I liked the story and I have read up to book 3 and all I'll comment on is that the story does get a bit too deep exploring self doubt and existential crisis's. but what should really be talked and praised is how the author formatted the story and that other authors in the litrpg genres should follow with. The author instead of reading the full character sheet constantly during chapters will have parts read at the end of the chapters if stuff happened it will have a "changes in stats at end of chapter" and will say something like Skill: Regeneration 1 -> 3 and there are chapters dedicated to the full stat sheet too. I loved this because it made me feel like I wasn't getting lost in a sea of numbers and was specifically focusing on the gains. I think every book should do this and even if during the actual chapter he will "check his sheet" unless it's relevant in the scenario it doesn't read the full sheet only the section of importance in the moment. I hope this style gets spread around because I feel that with this one simple change it could make any new litrpg story that would have been called garbage for reading stats way to often 100x better by eliminating the problem all together

It's a good formated story

There's a lot of stat changes read in their entirety though I liked that included reading out the glitches caused by various things

Tons of stat pages

Honestly I don’t know what I would’ve expected from a book that was pinned by an authors name as kamikaze potato, but as I stated above I have been pleasantly entertained. Bulkhead some slow spots and I’ve never been one for creatures like this but a story was well written to incorporate a lot of different points of view and the author stay true to characters and their creative personalities. Actually looking forward to book two to see where the story goes and how well the author does with the story

Pleasantly entertained

I like the balance between comedy, story and sense of loss. The author gives breath to the story like none other. Putting this series in my Top 10.

Perfection

I’ve been on a listening kick lately. This is the first book over the last 6 that is 5 star worthy!
A great listen!
