Publisher's summary

His mission: Night Wing. The revolutionary test plane with a top-secret weapons system was Colonel Joe "Breed" Mackenzie's #1 priority. And weapons expert Caroline Evans was his #1 distraction. True, the stubborn blonde was giving him the cold shoulder, but Joe hadn't become the best of the best by giving up.

Then he discovered someone on the inside was sabotaging Night Wing, and with her late hours and specialized expertise, Caroline seemed the obvious choice. Now Joe had to choose between allegiance to his country and love for his prime suspect.

Loved this story. Seems a fitting next addition to the Mackenzie Family. From the first story about his dad Wolf and new Mom I knew there was something special about Joe. This story did not disappoint in that regard. Good to see how the rest of the family is developing as well.

Highly recommend this story

Very entertaining

I enjoy audible books of this length. I love the characters, the writing, the suspense, and the romance in this story about Col. Joe Mackenzie and Caroline. I dislike the graphic sex. The narration is very good.

Good storyline

I like Linda Howards books, I think she is able to envelope the reader into the story, the narrator on the other hand, made it hard to stay focused on the story. Kept having to rewind too many times.

Very enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this book. I liked it much better than the first one. I am glad it is in the Romance Package. I loved the call signs!

Linda Howard is a great writer!

Great story! I loved this book more than the first book in this series. Which I did not think that would be possible. I can’t wait to listen to the next book in the series.

Loved this story

Love the Mackenzie family stories. Thought these two were a great match in strengths and character. The narrator was just a reader. I enjoyed the print version lots more.

Enjoyable story of lust and love.

I loved the character Joe, whose natural abilities and hard work take him to the top in his field of air force fighter pilots. He is in charge of testing and developing a new jet. Caroline is on the project team. He tells her she should pretend to have a romance with him so the other pilots will leave her alone. It was a nice story. There were also some bad guys.

Child abuse warning: In one scene someone recalls what life was like living in a foster home where the man beat, tortured and raped a six-year-old boy.

AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Dennis Boutsikaris was ok, but he is not the best for a romance novel. He doesn’t show feeling, desire or seduction in his voice. It’s almost like he is fast reading a book. Example: Joe says “I’m going to unbutton your shirt and slip my hand inside, all right?” Boutiskaris sounded like a doctor with a patient, not a man turned on and wanting to touch. The character Adrian “muttered” something. Boutsikaris said it in a loud voice. Carolyn asked a question “to the point, a simple request for information.” Boutsikaris said it in a wimpy fragile way.

Dennis Boutsikaris is better than some narrators, but he wasn’t five stars for me. I much prefer Will Patton, Richard Armitage, and Tom Stechshultz.

DATA:
Narrative mode: 3rd person. Story length: 216 pages. Swearing language: mild. Sexual language: mild. Number of sex scenes: four. Setting: 1992 Nevada plus Wyoming. Copyright: 1992. Genre: contemporary romance.

One of my favorites

This is probably my favorite book in the Mackenzie series and the audiobook version did not disappoint! The narrator did a great job telling Joe and Caroline's story, with just the right amount of emotion, angst and drama. I highly recommend this book but you really should listen to Mackenzie's Mountain first in order to appreciate the back story. A+
