PLOT: Morgan is recovering from a serious wound and ends up with small town Sheriff Bo and her ultra smart golden retriever Tricks................

Special Ops Go Team Leader Morgan is "ambushed" in his own yard. After a month in the hospital recovering he has a very long way to go. His "Boss" ....Axel "stashes" him with step sister ....Isabeau aka BO......the sheriff of a small town. Bo is far from welcoming this intruder.....and had be bribed into allowing the wounded HUNK in her home. Morgan is too weak to climb the stairs and sleeps on the sofa. Bo does not live alone.....she has Tricks a smarter than many people Golden Retriever. Tricks decides Morgan is invading her turf including "her sofa"....Morgan slowly gains strength and mostly ignores the dog. LOL....The fun is Morgan's awareness that HE is LAST after "the dog" in Bo's priority scales. Morgan is gaining his strength and finally becoming friends with Tricks. Bo is increasingly aware of her "attraction" of sexy man now part of her life. Morgan is finally "recovered" enough for hot passion with Bo. Still no clues as to who shot him..... Morgan goes over the last day "before" he was shot...he finally has a memory of a man in a blue shirt, that leads to his discovering a cover up and pay offs. Now Morgan becomes the "willing bait"....and gives the hit man a second chance to do the job right....This reminds me of Linda Howard's early books. I was not disappointed. However the dog Tricks got TOP billing in this book. No doubt from Linda Howards experiences her own Golden Retrievers. The story holds the interest. Lots of home town characters that add to the fun. The reader is the ONLY thing I would have changed. I found her voice at times lagging..... but over all 4 STARS~ and Welcome Back Linda Howard we missed you~

not her best work and the dog stuff is ridiculous.

I'm a dog lover and I got sick of the dog in this book. And I didn't find the main characters that likable either. The narration was adequate but nothing special. I was disappointed because I usually really enjoy Linda Howard

What a D-O-G!!

Written with the intrigue, romance, humour that turn a nice steamy love story into a good fun (furry) read.
Goldens are wonderful, loyal and intelligent friends and throw all this together and you have a keeper. Good one, Linda!

No trouble listening to this

Wonderful story told well. Characters brought to life by reader. Love Linda Howard books and especially love them when read well.

A little more action. A bit more romance and a final resolution at the end
