Publisher's summary

No one knows the real Carter Donovan. They only see the goalie with a chiseled body and the fake smiles I reserve for the camera. My horrific past is interfering with my game. But I have no idea how to fix it. Not until I meet a famous romance author who likes to play games of her own do I consider sharing my past. Sydney wants to know my secrets and the meaning behind my tattoos.

All I wanted was sex. So she tortures me with her dirty words and pictures, thrives off the steamy conversations that give me a never-ending case of blue balls. But the more I get to know her I realize she could be the light to my darkness. I only have one problem. Can she accept me the way I am? Contains mature themes.

Annoying and predictable

Sydney is ridiculous and I don’t know why Carter put up with her nonsense as long as he did. Even her antics in Alex and Kennedy’s story was beyond over the top. I honestly couldn’t even finish although I wanted to if only to hear about their joint wedding which I will never know if it even happened. Im not sure why the author felt the need to make the female lead so annoying and un-relatable???

The frustration

A lot of the phrases/lines were repeated either from the previous book and same book pov. It felt like they were trying to force the story because they wanted the other povs but were low on ideas. I still liked it overall but some parts were lacking.

And again...

In many areas of this book, it repeats the last story, word for word. If I wanted to reread the last book I wouldn’t have wasted time on this one. Donovan could have had a great story if more attention had been placed on him. The h was very superficial throughout. I liked her thoughts about men and how sometimes they need to be guided but she seemed too weak to guide herself much less the H. 🙄

Abhorrent FMC

The FMC is a terrible, terrible person. She’s bratty and selfish and treats most people like they are beneath her or toys simply for her amusement. I’m an avid reader; pretty sure out of thousands of books read, this one rates the absolute worst. I have a problem though, once I start I can not not finish. I have never, not once DNF. So the alternative was putting it at 2.5 the spreed and suffering through. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Not the best

I enjoyed the first 2 books in this series and was excited to read this one, unfortunately the lead female character is just annoying and the whole game that she plays is awful.

Disappointing

I’m extremely disappointed. I had high expectations for this book after listening to the second one. I mean you have a witty writer and a huge hockey player. Unfortunately, this book felt like a side story from book two just from a the friends perspective. The first half is just an outside perspective of the story from the second book. I’m half way through and so far I haven’t seen any development on the relationship between the leads for this book. Only a spicy phone call
Aries as finished but dnf
