Publisher's summary

The first time I met Winter Marks, I almost took her out with my Jeep.

To be fair, she came out of nowhere.

I flirted with her, and she flipped me off and disappeared into the woods on her bike.

But she left me a souvenir: a single hockey skate.

Seemed to me that divine intervention shouldn’t be ignored.

She was my icy Cinderella, and I would be her Prince Not-So-Charming.

Winter was more than just a sassy, badass hockey-playing hottie.

She’s stuck in a prison of a life. And I’m the perfect escape.

Neither of us expected to fall.

Or for the truth to shatter us.

Shattered Truths is a 107,000-word stand-alone, spicy new adult romance.

Good but enjoyed the Pucked Series more

It was good but enjoyed the original Pucked series more. There seemed to be more humor, and the angst was different plus I think the writing was spot on. However, while there is always a lot of sex, which kind of gets boring, the “kids of the Pucked series” as this one is, doesn’t have the same rhythm. In the “kids” books, the angst is super angsty and is not as sharp as they all seem to follow the same pattern. I miss the antics of Violet and Alex, the drama of Lance and Poppy and the craziness of how Randy and Lily got together and their drama with his Dad. Having said that, BJ’s accident was compelling.

Just seems with the newest books, Ms. Hunting is following a template. Don’t get me wrong, I have all of her books, and enjoy them. But couldn’t one of the kids be more fun and humorous while falling in love?

Also, where’s the sequel to The Good Luck Charm. The main character’s sister, Carmen, sounds like she could be a lot of fun getting the doctor. Or the doctor getting Carmen.

BJ + Winter

I loved Randy and Lily's story from the original Pucked series, so it was great to see BJ (who we meet in the prior Lies, Hearts and Truths books) get his own story.

BJ and Winter's story is compelling and sweet. I also liked that he's the figure skater and she's the hockey player.

This is definitely one to check out (as are the other other stories in both series sets)

Excellent narration by Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt.

Oh my goodness I love this book so much. What a great story. There are amazing what they come up with just baffles me. OK let me just tell you you can’t go wrong with the narrators obviously because they’re two of the best but Zachary Webber.holy cow. He is amazing he can narrate so clearly and perfectly and every time he reads it’s so believable.

Yet another amazing book from Helena Hunting! Her characters stay with you for long after the last word. And the narrator team on this book brought such emotion to the beautifully written words. Highly recommend!

Super Ice Sports Love Story!

Zachary Webber’s voice is just so smooth- I could listen endlessly. He & Andi Arndt both excel with their various character voices making you feel you’re living the story.

I loved the strong family & friend support throughout the book. The fascination with tattoos & piercings detracts from my visions of otherwise gorgeous bodies, but I get it’s a choice.

I could totally do without the introduction of the gay friend & his boyfriend into the plot - why? And the glorification of the free healthcare in Canada was asinine; BJ would have died waiting his turn for treatment in that system.

The second chance & redemption themes were well developed & I was glad to see several HEAs.

I’d listen to this again just to hear ZW be BJ.

Sweet, sexy and heartfelt, second-gen Pucked story

Finally, it’s BJ’s turn! I’m a massive Pucked fan, and I’m loving this spin-off series with the stories of the second generation of the Pucked kids. Randy and Lily from Pucked Over are my favourite couple of the series, so I’ve been extra excited to read their son’s story, and it (and he) was everything I was hoping for! BJ proves to be the most amazing romantic hero in this funny, sweet, sexy and heartfelt story that completely captured my heart. I loved it!

BJ and Winter meet when he almost runs her over while she’s riding her bike. She gives him a well-deserved serve, and from that moment, he is absolutely smitten. As a well-established manwhore, it’s a big shift for him, but his charm, good looks and patient determination ultimately win her over. Winter is fierce and spirited, and she has a lot of drama going on in her life that she’s trying to deal with, she doesn’t have time for BJ. But he is kind and caring, and the flirting and banter is next level, and she quickly finds herself completely under his spell. There’s no messing about, no game playing, they like each other and they don’t hide it, and I loved them together so much!

“Are you always this persistent?”
“Only when I think it’s worth the effort.”

Though they share a love of the ice – he’s a figure skater, she’s a hockey player – their lives could not be more different. BJ has known nothing but love and privilege, whereas Winter has a difficult home life, but he is right there beside her to help her through some difficult times, and when her whole life implodes, the entire Pucked crew come to her rescue, and God, I love these guys together! Randy and Lily are so amazing as the parents to a 21 year old, and watching BJ’s friends and cousins gather around and bring Winter into the group warmed my heart. And the way she was able to accept their help was so gorgeous to see.

“Take the leap, Winter. I promise the landing is soft on this one.”

We see them chasing their dreams and settle into life together. They are fun and sweet, and so blessedly functional, they talk things through, and when problems arise, they deal with it. It’s so great to watch. And let’s not forget the sexy time, because these two are SO freaking hot together! Their passion for each other, and their growing feelings for each other create a beautiful love story, and I loved every moment with them. And when things get really hard, they are bound together even tighter – holding on and working through it all together. These two hard my heart in all the ways.

“I tried not to fall in love with you, but you made that impossible. You know that, right?”

I cannot express in words how deeply I adore BJ Ballistic. He is a sexy, dirty talking cinnamon bun of a hero; kind, caring, protective and sweet, and my God, he is so freaking hot! He may be a playboy, but he has a lot of depth. He’s emotionally mature (probably because his parents are so awesome), and I love the way he supported and cared for Winter when she needed him. And as Winter finally escapes the toxicity of her life and begins to find her way forward, she’s able to give that right back to him. Their relationship is a true give and take, and I loved their story so much.

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by the dream team of Zachary Webber and Andie Arndt, and they are just fantastic. I definitely recommend listening to this one!

This is such a gorgeous read. I could not put it down, and I absolutely loved it.

Zachary Webber Shines!

Deeply moving story between Winter and BJ, two characters dealing with harrowing life challenges. Winter's past is marked by abuse and victimization, making her journey a testament to resilience. BJ, known for his carefree playboy lifestyle, falls for Winter, and their connection forms the emotional core of the story.

This story stands out for its unflinching exploration of difficult issues, refusing to sugarcoat the harsh realities of tragedies. Instead, it portrays how two people can provide crucial support and healing during their darkest moments. The narration, featuring Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt, is exceptional, enhancing the emotional depth of the characters. Whether you're drawn by the story or the narrators, this audiobook offers a compelling experience that delves into the redemptive power of love amidst life's trials.

Note - I only purchased this book because I’m a top fan of Zachary Webber and he delivered as expected a brilliant performance,
