Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Lisa Kleypas delivers the unforgettable tale of a strong-willed beauty who encounters her match in one of London's most notorious - yet irresistible - rakes.

An eccentric wallflower

Most debutantes dream of finding husbands. Lady Pandora Ravenel has different plans. The ambitious young beauty would much rather stay at home and plot out her new board game business than take part in the London Season. But one night at a glittering society ball, she's ensnared in a scandal with a wickedly handsome stranger.

A cynical rake

After years of evading marital traps with ease, Gabriel, Lord St. Vincent, has finally been caught by a rebellious girl who couldn't be less suitable. In fact she wants nothing to do with him. But Gabriel finds the high-spirited Pandora irresistible. He'll do whatever it takes to possess her, even if their marriage of convenience turns out to be the devil's own bargain.

A perilous plot

After succumbing to Gabriel's skilled and sensuous persuasion, Pandora agrees to become his bride. But soon she discovers that her entrepreneurial endeavors have accidentally involved her in a dangerous conspiracy - and only her husband can keep her safe. As Gabriel protects her from their unknown adversaries, they realize their devil's bargain may just turn out to be a match made in heaven.

Not my favorite....

Ugh. I love Lisa Kleypas, and I’ve loved this series, but this book was sooo hard to get through. Part of the problem was that Mary Jane Wells read the part of Pandora as though she were a petulant child and it was super hard to picture her as a woman getting into a relationship. The entire tone of the book was that way. It was hard to get into the story, which itself was not her best either. I’m not sure if it was the narration, or the story... or maybe a little of both. I’m just glad its over. I ”un-enjoyed” it so much that I’m returning it. I don’t even want to read the next one, though I probably will.... in time.,

Adorable heroine

What a cute story and adorable heroine. She is so full of life and energy. Expect cute lines and feel good storyline with a bit of excitement added about two hours before the end of the book. Mary Jane Wells did a fabulous job narrating. Lisa Kleypas did not disappoint.

Funny and Enjoyable

Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas (Audio Edition)
Narrated by Mary Jane Wells
Series: The Ravenels #3

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I immediately liked Gabriel. He's straightforward and doesn't seem too arrogant. I Loved how sometimes he just tries to bait Pandora. I Loved Pandora’s made up words and her fact book! Too funny! Their interactions are wonderful and they had a great spark between them. I did find some parts in the story had a bit more backstory and/or description which seemed to put a slight lull in the book at times, but then Pandora and Gabriel would pick up the story again. I also enjoyed Dragon Pandora's “footman/bodyguard”. He was a good character.

Mary Jane Wells did a FANTASTIC job narrating. She has such a wide variety of voices and accents and it truly made the story come alive! LOVED her performance!

WOW!! AMAZING FEEL GOOD HISTORICAL ROMANCE!!

What did you love best about Devil in Spring?

How Pandora got stuck in the sofa in the summer house.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Devil in Spring?

When Gabriel accidently Comprised Pandora by trying to help free her from the sofa!!

What does Mary Jane Wells bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mary Jane Wells is one of the best Narrators. She really brings a audible story to life. Just a Excellent Narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes I had server extreme reaction once again Pandora getting stuck in the sofa and Gabriel helping to free was a Laugh Out Loud Moment and then when Pandora tells Gabriel how her father boxed her ear for ease dropping. She was a child and it made me feel like crying.

Any additional comments?

WOW!! Lisa Kleypas never disappoints her fans. Devil in Spring the 3rd book in the Ravenel series was one of those stories that makes you feel good.

The story opens with my all time favorite Wallflower Series characters from bk 3 Devil In Winter You got it!! Sebastian Lord St. Vincent who is now the Duke of Kingston and Evangeline/Evie Jenner. Oh!! how I love this couple. They are now parents to a brood of adult children and grandchildren.

Gabriel Lord St. Vincent is the heir to the Sebastian, Duke of Kingston and Evie Jenner Duchess. He is the eldest of there children. He is a wonderful, loveable, sexy and very handsome hero in this delightful story. He reminded me a bit of the character Jamie Fraser from Outlander. He happens upon Lady Pandora Ravenel twin to Cassandra. She is one of the daughters of the deceased Earl of Trenear. Her cousin Devon is the new Earl see bk.1 "Cold Hearted Rake". Where you meet the rambunctious twins. Pandora has gotten herself stuck in a sofa in a summer house and can't get unstuck. As she fights to get herself free, her hair comes down her gown is torn and she is swearing up a storm. She has obtained some bruises. This had me LOL!! Gabriel hears her distress and comes to her aid. As Gabriel is leaning behind her to help her get free they are spotted in what looks like a very compromising position. Of course he must marry the girl. In the Eyes of the Ton He has the same reputation as his father Sebastian before he married his mother Evie. He has thoroughly Compromised Pandora, by trying to help her.

Pandora is a beautiful young women who at times acts much younger then her 21 years. I think she would have been more understood if she was still that 19 year old we met in bk1. That's the one thing in this character that I think was wrong. She just acted to silly at times for any 21 year. But she has a great imagination and her ideas of owning her own board game factory was brilliant. Pandora does not want to marry and she won't be forced she just wants to design and sale her games. She is also, a very good impromptu story teller. So no matter how immature she acted at times I still fell in love with her character. She is just lovely and Gabriel is every females fantasy lover. He is so kind and gentle with her. Also patient he has never met anyone like Pandora.

The Storyline of "Devil In Spring" has been done many times and by many HR authors but Lisa Kleypas has put a new twist to this story and it is well developed funny characters. Its like watching a movie that's the way Lisa writes. She knows how to put the reader right there in the story. You can see the scenes play out in your minds eye. There's just enough sensual, sexy scenes between Gabriel and Pandora to sizzle. They don't make love until they are married. There is a dangerous plot to the Crown when Pandora sees a man that is up to some mischief. Which result in a plot to murder her. We are introduced to Ethan Ransom who looks like a Ravenel but he works for Scotland Yard or just who is he? I really want to know and I think we might find out in the next book in the Ravenel Series. Which I hope comes out real soon. This is a wonderful series and "Devil In Spring" was a excellent addition to that series.
I Highly Recommend you read "Devil In Spring". It will Stand Alone but it would be much better to get acquainted with the characters in the first 2 books of the series. Oh and by all means read Lisa's Kleypas's Wallflower series. Its Amazing!!

My favorite of Lisa Kleypas to date.

I absolutely loved this story. I have listened twice. I always enjoy being able to revisit characters from a previous series, in this case the Wallflower series. The narrator does a fabulous job bringing out the quirkiness of the main female character and making the main male character very appealing. Eagerly looking forward to the next in this series!

It was okay

What did you like best about Devil in Spring? What did you like least?

Reader was distracting. Bad with accents. No reason to believe the hero would like the heroine. Kinda dumb at the end.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Herione needs to be less goofy and the reader needs to make her sound less goofy.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Mary Jane Wells?

Not sure. Someone who can do accents.

Could you see Devil in Spring being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

No

Wallflowers - the Next Generation

If you could sum up Devil in Spring in three words, what would they be?

Extremely likeable Characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Devil in Spring?

Gabriel teaching Pandora to waltz and helping her overcome her vertigo was very sweet.

What about Mary Jane Wells’s performance did you like?

She has definitely become one of my all time favourite narrators. I just came off a book by another narrator that was one of the worst I ever heard, so listening to Mary Jane Wells was so enjoyable after that. I found no fault with any of the characters' voices she did. Everyone was distinguishable without any being over the top. I particularly loved her voice for Pandora. She made an already likeable character, even more so. I will be seeking out other books she has narrated in the same manner I seek out other books by authors I enjoy.

Any additional comments?

This is now one of my favourite Kleypas books, which before now was Eve and St Vincent's story. This book is the story of their son. Gabriel's personality seemed to be made up of best of both his parents and a good example of being raised in a happy home with a loving family.
I feel like there is much more to tell in this series, more siblings with stories waiting. Please keep them coming Ms Kleypas. And PLEASE use Mary Jane Wells again for the next audiobooks.

Delightful! Lisa Kleypas is back at her best!

Any additional comments?

Story: Delightfully charming and engaging! This is a classic good HR!
Lisa Kleypas is a great story teller, but she also weaves many interesting historical details and references which breath life into the story, and the characters. I appreciate the research into the period and the accurate description of the medical condition that Pandora is suffering from ( I struggle with a similar affliction, and LK is spot on).

Intelligent writing, with interesting characters, strong leading lady, and lots of homor ( thank you!). I love the reference to the Wallflowers and Devil in Winter! Finally, love the small mysterious clues that pave the way for the next book/s. Great work for this genre!

Narration/performance: very good. I have grown to appreciate M.J Wells as the voice of the Revenels. Nice acting, good voice!

Story: 5 stars. Engaging, humorous, interesting development of the series. Perfect for this genre!
Relationship/heat: great characters, romantic and fun development of the relationship. Hot and loving!
Performance: 4.5 stars very good!

Overall: 5 stars! Worth a credit, worth your time, and looking forward to the next book!

Amazing!

It's a great book, but I thing the narrator did even better! I could hear the emotion and made me feel how pandora was feeling. Great work!

Ugh...Pandora

Someone needed to give LK a Snickers when she wrote this one...clearly she was feeling grumpy. Pandora is AWFUL and I still have no idea why Gabriel loved her so much. The few threads of daddy St. Vincent and Evie in the story were nice though. I’m one of those that has to read an entire series so I got through it but only because MJW is an amazing narrator. Moving on to Hello Stanger and hoping for the best! I guess even my favorite author is allowed a dud every once in a while!
