One good story and one awesome narration..

A FRIEND INDEED
Kind of boring, with George being in love with Caroline and Caroline’s brother having to tell her she was in love with George. She was under the impression you can’t be married and be friends, too.

A HAPPY BEGINNING
Cute story. About Sophia and Dermot becoming friends and a home where she was a governess and he was a stable master. She was almost attacked by her employer and Dermot took her to his home, to his mother, and she found out he was more than a stable master.

ROAD TO CAVAN TOWN
This was about a woman and a really, really dense man.

A CHRISTMAS PROMISE
Another cute story about Sean and Maeve. They fell in love in-between his time at the stables and the 15-minute walk too her farm.

DREAM OF A GLORIOUS SEASON
This was my favorite so far. But I think that’s because of the narrator. Mary Jane Wells is just phenomenal. Her reading emotions are awesome, and all her characters have their own distinct voice. It was a very cute story, about Elizabeth who’d loved Julian since she was eight years old, and Julian who didn’t realize he loved his best friend Elizabeth. And the narrator made the sister, Mary and the parents sound as horrible as the were supposed. She put the other narrators to shame because all the did was read the book, no emotions whatsoever.

A LESSON IN LOVE
Another rather silly story. Lucy wanted to go to all the balls and musicales and soirees that London had to offer but her husband, Reed, didn’t want to go to any. Lucy leaves him and goes home to her parents’ to teach him a lesson and he decided to teach her a lesson. It was too silly to enjoy.

So, no sex and no swearing and only one really good story.

As to the narration: Only one exceptional narrator, Mary Jane Wells. The other narrators were simply MEH..

Each is Delightful!

Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!
The British Isles Collection by Sara M. Eden is perfect for times of stress when it’s difficult to keep your mind on a long involved plot. It’s especially handy for those with short bursts of reading/listening time.

Story after story Sarah M. Eden creates characters and plots in this Anthology of Romantic stories that the modern reader will relate to. Each one brings a chuckle or full-blown laughter. Several touched my romantic heart so much that I longed for the story to continue. Each story is PG-13 and full of delight.

LOVE Mary Jane Wells... others....

I could listen to MJW all day. She makes even the most tedious stories come to life with her narration.

Not that these were tedious. All were very sweet. Maybe if it ended with a story narrated by MJW I would have given a higher rating.

Fun Listen

As always I love listening to Mary Jane Wells. She is my must listen.
I did also enjoy listening to the others as well. The male narrator is not my favorite.

All of the love stories were fun listens and Dream of Glorious Season was so sweet and also was so frustrating. Sometimes listening to rude family's gets me so frustrated, but then again when a story can make you feel different emotions, to me that makes it that much better of a story.
I will definitely listen to more of Sarah Eden's stories.

All six stories are well done!

When there are six short stories, one tends to think that at least one of them won't be good - but in this case you'd be wrong. I enjoyed all of Sarah Eden's short stories! And each of the various narrators did a great job, too! I have read many other of Sarah Eden's books, and as I was thinking over these short stories, I thought to myself that I liked these stories, not only because they were well thought out, but also precisely BECAUSE they were short! It bothers me so much when an author wastes much of their book going into detail about the main character's thoughts and insecurities - especially their mistaken conclusions as to the motive of the other main character, or as to what they "thought" they saw or heard! I keep shouting at the book "Communicate honestly about what you are thinking!!!" but the main characters never do until the very end of the book! (of course!) It really is a waste of time to the reader.
But BECAUSE these were short stories, the author had no time to go deeply into the main character's insecurities or their jumping to conclusions. These stories are my cup of tea precisely because the characters don't have time for all that balderdash!!! The stories are told straightforwardly, with just a problem that is solved by the main characters THROUGH their easy communication with one another....... their honest communication.
I wish Sarah Eden would write MORE short stories! Just what I like!

British Isles Collection

I like these many offerings and they keep me entertained. But they are all running together they seem so similar. Written well enough to keep me in the story. But I'm done with them for a time.
