Love LK especially this one!

I loved this book of LK’s. It made me more anxious than any of the wallflower books, with a lot more action in it. Every romance book I listen to, I get so upset that people just don’t communicate well and tell one another their truths, but then I realize that there wouldn’t be a story without that drama. I disagree with everyone about Rosalyn L’s narration. She is by far the best narrator of any historical romance novel. She can do American accents better than most, as well as men and children and of course leading ladies. Great listen.

Not a Favorite

This book was a miss for me. I have loved many of her other books (Hello Stranger is wonderful) and I had been hopeful because the main characters were so strong and I enjoy antagonistic characters turned lovers story. I echo what other reviews have said about questionable consent in lover scenes but for me it was most upsetting was that there was a missing child. That a mother would not be telling everybody and doing everything to recover a child even during this time period was utterly unrealistic and distracted from the story.

Wonderful as usual.

It is beautifully written and hilarious. It goes without saying that Rosalyn Landor is great.

Love all Lisa Kleypas

Although I live all of Lisa Kleypas's books, this is the first audio version of her works for me. It's a perfect way to "read" while multi-tasking. However, I wasn't impressed with the narrator. Her inflections weren't always appropriate to me, and I enjoy someone with more animation. That certainly doesn't mean I would let that deter me from one of my favorite author's audio books, though!

One Of Lisa Kleypas Best

This story held my interest all the way through as it had a little more drama than some of Kleypas novels, and it features a feisty independent heroine. I unknowingly read book 2 first, this is book one. I strongly suggest reading in order as the supporting characters will be much clearer and you'll understand their motivations better. Kleypas series novels are great entertaining escapes. I enjoy narrator Landor 's voice much more than the other narrators of Kleypas' novels.

Love Lisa Kleypas!

this is one of the rare books where the heroin is as amazing as the hero. not to say that I don't love all of Lisa's books but the funnier and more outspoken and spicier and more independent especially for the era the more enjoyment. you can't go wrong with this story.

Good story & great narration, but...

Sardonically is now my least favorite word, and I never want to listen to another sex scene ever again. Lisa is a gifted writer, but this one felt a bit like a skin flick with a plot. Still worth the listen; just keep the skip ahead button handy.

Best Lisa book yet

Strong but feminine heroine. Super hot but not superfluous scenes. Witty, funny, tear jerking at times. Hard to put down

Perfection!

One of Klepas’ early works, which are many times an author’s best. This one indeed fits that category. Add the exceptional and underpaid (no matter what she’s paid) Rosalyn Landor to the narration and it becomes one of those novels that keeps you up well into the wee hours.
