Publisher's summary

A family of four murdered in their hotel room. A single mother and her boyfriend both stabbed to death. A sordid history of violent crimes, repeated over and over - but decades apart.

Olivia Barker is a therapist with no connection to the murders. But she has heard things. Stories that keep her up at night. Details that only a killer would know. A killer who could be one of her patients…Olivia has no proof for her suspicions. But as the body count rises, so do her fears.

A rock is thrown through her window, her car tires are slashed, a chilling message is scrawled on her bathroom mirror. Olivia knows she's getting closer to the truth. But the truth could be the last thing she'll ever know....

Really great book!

I've been having a tough time finding a few books that keep me intrigued. I've actually stopped listening to several lately, but I was so happy to have found this book! I loved it! I loved the story, the suspense and the action.I didn't want to pause it and I got a great deal of work done around my house through this book! Though I did guess the villain, it was still a great story, and the villain got just what they deserved!

I HAVE to give credit to the reader, as well. He was awesome! His voices were great and entertaining. VERY well done!

I'm recommending this to all of my friends, have a great listen!

O.... M.... G....

I'm sure there are quite a few of you out there that saw that "Title" to this review and thought "oh my god, I can't believe she just used that here." Well.... MADE YA LOOK :)
My first experience with anything by Mr. Kevin O'Brien and I'm seriously still shaken. Wow, does this man know how to keep you on the edge of your seat. He does not hold back in this book, well... maybe a little in a few places but for those I was very thankful. I was very easily sucked right into the story, cared very much about the characters, cringed as some got killed off (no spoilers here - you already know people die just not who...)
The narration is superb - I highly recommend this book if you can stand the suspense. My one and only caveat - there are a few moments I felt like I was sitting at one of those "Friday the 13th or Freddie Kruger" type movies - thinking to myself "NO! DON'T go IN THERE! Are you CRAZY!!" A few implausible moments like that but I was able to still enjoy the book very much - now going to get another and get ready for some more anxious moments!
p.s. You may or may not notice how much I love my Audible, been listening for over 12 years and go through two or three books a week... I can't possibly write reviews on all of them but those that really stand out - I like to share.
p.s.s. I don't watch those types of movies mentioned above - I can read suspense and thrillers and scary - just can't watch it! But I know from the commercials they crazy for going into some of those scary places :)

Formulaic YA Novel

I actually feel a little tricked into buying this one, based on the earlier rave reviews. This is basically a YA novel, though a fairly gruesome example of the genre. I didn't finish it, but I know how it ends - if you get my drift.

That said, it was very well performed and doesn't take a lot of effort to listen to so if you want a bit of brain candy and don't mind a made-for-TV-movie plot it's a reasonable choice.

Unreadable??? That's absolutely ridiculous.

Any additional comments?

Whoever said it was unreadable is crazy.
I thought the story was great and never slowed down. A nice little surprise.

Meh, it''s OK

The story line isn't bad, with plenty of twists and suspense, but the author could've used a better editor to catch some of the continuity mistakes. And, unlike most other reviewers, I've had some serious trouble with the narration. The individual who reads it uses a voice for the main character that just seems wrong. Very childish sounding, and several of the other voices he uses are just plain annoying. If it weren't for the desire to find out how it ends, I probably would've stopped listening by now. I still have quite a ways to go, so maybe it'll get better. Again, the storyline did grab me and I'm interested enough to put up with what I consider to be horrible narration. That said, I'll probably make an effort to avoid books read by this person in the future.

I loved this book and narrator!

I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked from the first sentence and was very suspenseful. Todd Haberkorn was perfect as the narrator. I will definitely look for future books written by Kevin O'Brien and for books narrated by Todd Haberkorn.

Unbeatable Narration

Unspeakable was an excellent book. The story catches you and keeps you wondering exactly what is going on. Different than the rest. It was well worth the credit. But the thing that makes this book was Todd Haberkorns spot on performance. Everyone was so different and well acted that there was a couple of times I wondered if it was actually him. I hope to hear him again ,he was so entertaining. he kept me enthralled. Great choice for narrator. It made this book.

UNSPEAKABLE grabs you and won't let go!

Any additional comments?

This mystery thriller made me laugh and cry, be courageous and shake with fear, also, feel proud and feel disappointment, but most of all it kept me guessing what was going to happen next. Kevin O'Brien knows how to paint a perfect picture with words. Narrator, Todd Haberkorn, is an outstanding reader.

Fantastic Psychological Thriller

When former child-star Colin Cox shows up to Olivia's office, she doesn't know what to think but her life is quickly thrown into chaos as the past meets the present. So many twists and turns in this book. I love stories where I can't predict what's going to happen next. The psychological aspects of the story were definitely interesting, making this read much more than just a slasher story. I really felt for Colin after everything he went through so I was glad for how the story ended.

This is a fantastic psychological thriller. Definitely a must read!

Oh what a twisty ride!!

I first saw this book in a book store a few years back and put it on my very long wish list. Oh how I wish I had read it sooner. I know a book is good by how fast I listen to it. If it has me wanting to do chores just to have an excuse to listen, then its a darn good book!
This was a very intricate web. Of all the directions I thought it was going, it ended up no where near. I highly recommend this listen. The narrator did a great job conveying the different characters as well as aging them. I always want to say so much but it would so spoil it for future listeners if even a tiny bit is given away. I'm off to find my next read by Mr. O'Brein!!

GET THIS BOOK... You'll thank me later ;-)
