Publisher's Summary

Blessed or cursed with a connection to the souls of others, Sloan Jordan can see the best in people...and the worst. With nothing more than a glance at a photograph, she can judge the living from the dead and the good souls from the evil ones. For 27 years she's kept her ability a secret, but 11 young women have been murdered in the mountains of North Carolina, and Sloan may be the only hope of finding their killer. She has just agreed to help Detective Nathan McNamara with the case when a stranger - who is as alluring as he is terrifying - shows up at her doorstep with a dark past and another puzzling mystery: She can't see his soul at all. Now Sloan is on the hunt for a deadly psychopath with two irresistible men. One of them would die for her, and the other would kill to keep her safe.

I don't know

I'm not sold on this book yet. 1. I don't like love triangles. They are an unnecessary way to add drama to the story and make women look stupid. 2. The story drags too much because of the romantic angle and Sloan trying to figure out who and what she is. 3. The plot and character development is superficial. 4. The ending wraps up to easy. The mystery has been going on for years and all of a sudden it takes a few weeks to solve. I don't think I'll be getting the next one.

Great start to a new series

This book has everything, suspense, romance, humor and great characters. The book is so well written and the story flows so well that you will not want to stop listening. Part of this is due to the excellent narration done by Brittany Pressley. Looking forward to starting book 2.

A great paranormal suspense

What did you love best about The Soul Summoner?

I love the characters especially Sloan and Nathan.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sloan is my favorite character because even though she has this gift she has a great sense of humor and love for her friends and family.

What about Brittany Pressley’s performance did you like?

Loved Brittany's voice!!! She did a great job of distinguishing between characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book though quite serious has a ton of humor in it. It makes me want to read book 2.

Any additional comments?

I read this book first and loved it. So I thought I would try the audio. Loved it.

Wonderful!

Loved the Book. The narrator Brittany was fantastic. I actually looked for more books narrated by her as she kept my interest and wasn't monotone or boring. The book was great...great mystery and loved the characters. I recommend.

The Soul Summoner –– Elicia Hyder

Where does The Soul Summoner rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I definitely love Brittany Pressley's voice, and I think she perfectly voiced Sloan and Co. I definitely rank her in my top five favorite narrators!

What did you like best about this story?

I love the quips and quirks (the comedic relief) that the characters brought. I've never been a love triangle type, but she makes it funny, tension-y, and emotional all in the course of one book! I literally cried at some point (both lol and sad moments)! XD

Which character – as performed by Brittany Pressley – was your favorite?

Sloan. Definitely. But second comes Warren. She makes him have this husky rasp or whatever and definitely makes it work well for his character. I always imagined Warren as a laxish, suave sounding dude! XD

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both laugh and cried! (Having read the three books out so far March 2017, "The Siren," Elicia's next book in the series is my favorite! You should totes check that out if you are intrigued by this one.

Any additional comments?

This has a complete ending and beginning and can be read like a stand-alone. Therefore, there is NO cliffhanger!

Glad I picked this up!

Honestly I picked this book up because of the narrator and not the author but now I will be looking for more from the author after this book.
Sloan is our main character who has the ability to summon people by just saying their name or thinking about them. She gets pulled into an investigation when the new detective Nathan Macnamara comes to pay her a visit and it takes off from
there. Meeting a “soulless” stranger along the way, Sloan has to make a choice.
I really enjoyed this book so much that I immediately bought all the others right after reading this one. And as always Brittany Pressley does an amazing job narrating!

Happy Listening!!!

Love this Paranormal experience

This is the beginning of series that I can't wait to continue. The author has given us great characters and a great plot. This has great suspense, thrill and a touch of romance. There are two very strong men who would are perfect in their own way. Love them both. Sometimes it is easy to pick out who you think should be together when there are two guys after the same girl. However, I could see Sloan with either of the guys. Warren and/or Nathan. The story is great too. Love the paranormal. Love to see what their gifts are and how they are going to use them. This first book was excellent. The narrator does a great job with the characters and the plot.

A Delightful Find

This is a book that cleverly combines the supernatural, romance, and suspense into one intriguing package. Heroine Sloan may seem like simply a publicist, but she possesses psychic abilities no one knows about except her best friend, Adrienne. Until a slip of the tongue in front of sexy investigator, Nathan, gets Sloan involved in the search for a serial killer - by using her supernatural abilities.

The most refreshing part about this novel was it veered from the "formula" romance by introducing not one, but two suitors vying for Sloan's affections. The reader is convinced Nathan is her guy until she stumbles upon another "of her kind" - Warren, who possesses abilities similar to hers. The development of the characters along with the fast-paced suspense story is delightful.

For those who love saga-like series, you'll be pleased to know this story continues with three more books, apparently keeping all four of the main characters - which is the only reason I did NOT give it five stars, as I prefer series that are not sequential.

Unusual premise, great characterization, lively dialogue, and a strong dose of suspense. Highly recommend.
