Publisher's Summary

Sometimes a wolf has to stand alone to find out what he's made of.

Melody is an ambitious entrepreneur who has always loved the thrill of a new adventure, but she's about to get more than she bargained for when the only way to save her business is to secure a deal with a powerful tribal leader. Running Horse, Oklahoma, isn't on the map, and Mel is about as lost as a Shifter can get. When she unexpectedly runs into her best friend's brother, her friendly visit quickly turns treacherous.

Lakota Cross is a man with secrets. While tracking a killer, he reunites with Melody, and their friendship sparks into a passionate affair. But if he doesn't quell the fire soon, it might burn out of control.

Once again, fate brings these two Shifters together in a moment of need. But will the sacrifice be greater than the reward?

Murder, mayhem, and a mating ceremony.

Lakota and Melody

What a great pair to start off a new series. We have met both Lakota and Melody in past books. They were babies and then kids and then teens in those books. Well folks Lakota is now 30 and Melody is 25. All grown up and ready to live their lives. I don't want to give away anything so this is going to be a vague review. Dannika Dark is my favorite author and I have loved her books. The world she has created for her series is perfect. Her writing skills are impecable. Characters from past books always make a cameo appearance. They usually aren't named. But by their actions, mannerisms, and descriptions we can figure them out. This time those past characters were named and had some dialog. Wonderful! The Vow is an excellent start to a new series. There is action, comedy, and love. Great combination. Now we can't forget about Nicole Poole's narration. She does such an exceptional job with every character. She is the best narrator hands down. She brings the books to life. Her library of characters and voices is endless. Dannika and Nicole are a perfect combination in the book world. Simply amazing!

Exactly what I wanted♥️♥️♥️♥️

I've been waiting for Mel and Lakotas story. I've always loved the chemistry they had. This book didn't disappoint. Beautifully written, I laughed out loud, I cried, I was angry, I was talking to the characters. I truly loved be the whole native american vibe. Dannika Dark books are always one of my favorite treats to read. Always my #1 favorite. I am so impressed that Nicole Poole is the same narrator in all the books. BRAVO Dannika Dark Can't wait for the rest to come

Not Dark’s best work

The Vow definitely did not stand up to the impeccable writing Dannika Dark usually puts out. I have been fan from day one but this novel fell flat. The love affair between Melody and Lakota was flimsy at best and the story line was so so. Even though this book was a major disappointment I will continue to be a fan and look forward to Hope’s story.

2.5 very juvenile dialogue DNF @ 25%

This was just bad. Everything about it. The dialogue was extremely juvenile and it just felt like amateur writing. There was no build up or anticipation. Disappointing as I've really enjoyed some of her other series.

I expect more...

... from DD and this book was beneath her abilities. It does not have the quality feel of others she has written

It's Amazing

So many levels, the depth to this story was great. The love was sweet, can't wait to see if there's more next-gen spin-offs in the future.

Love this series/world.

Great characters, character development, story line and conflict. And the narration was also great. Can't wait for the next book.

Juvenile and dull narration

just my opinion, but I don't like the narrators voice. just dull over all. the story line is weak. Hope and Mel seem weak and obsess over unimportant issues like their new store opening being delayed, finding a new gem dealer and canceling orders. I kept rolling my eyes every time Mel complained about any of it. this book doesn't elicit any real emotions. Not excitement, worry, romance, or anger on behalf of, or for, any of the characters. i feel no connection to the characters or investment in their outcome. Watered down & weak characters, juvenile dialog, weak story line, & dull narrator. truthfully I'm only half way in, but nothing has seemed to save it...

The next generation of love

Dannika Dark returns to our wonderful world of the breed and we have moved on to the next generation. The story immediately immerses us into the lives Hope and Mel as they start their adventure into business. The journey has lots of unexpected paths, humour, fabulous characters, nostalgic throwbacks and of course, some super steamy scenes. A must read for all.

Time to Give up

I have listen to / read a lot of DD’s but I found this one just a little obvious and boring. The chat is just like the other books with a different backdrop. Alas I think I am over them. It didn’t feel new and fresh. Different characters same story.

Woohoo!!! They’re back!!!!

Can’t believe how much I have missed these guys!! Dannika can’t half write. Her tales are simply brilliant with plots twists galore, incredible characters, great family dynamics and banter, wonderful descriptive details that almost allow you to smell the wet fur of the wolves she writes about! I loved her first series and truly didn’t realise how much I had missed them. Am going to go back and listen to them again while I wait, very impatiently, for the next instalment. I so hope that Tac makes an appearance somewhere. Read or listen to the first series in order to really get the best from Dannika’s world. It is beautiful, convoluted, loving, funny, thrilling, twisted, complicated, sexy, touching, poignant and absolutely like no other I have read about. 5 stars are totally underwhelming as a reflection of how much I enjoy her work.

Enjoyable book

It was great getting back into this world as it links to previous series I’ve enjoyed by Dannika Dark, though it can be read as a stand alone. I would have liked a bit more at the end, like maybe an epilogue, but I imagine these characters will be revisited in future books (even though other characters will be the main focus) so I’m sure I’ll get more then. I was engaged throughout and bought into their relationship. I’m looking forward to more books in the series!

Danika Dark delivers again

Epic start to the series. A perfect blend of old and new. I absolutely loved it and couldn't stop listening. Poole is just as fabulous as always for the narration. Can't wait for the next installment and long may the series continue.

Fast paced thriller with some romance for good measure. Great story very well written ❤️

Short version: loved the story but found the narration stilted and distracting. As I have all the books read by this narrator. Nowadays I read these story’s first, then listen on my commute. That way my mind can apply my own interpretation. Enter Lakota, Ivy’s son from a violent encounter as a teenager, and Melody Cole, fashion entrepreneur and business partner to Lakota’s little sister. He’s a bounty hunter now, working undercover for the Higher Authority, investigating the mysterious deaths of women around a Native American Reservation. ..... which just happens to be where Melody is headed to meet a contract on the Res. Who sells the best stones for Hope’s jewellery. With the Grand Opening looking for their new business venture their suppliers have backed out and they need to get a more reliable source for supply In no time Melody finds herself in the middle of Lakota’s investigation, and in danger. Can he get to her in time to save her? You’ve got to read it, it’s terrific!
