Publisher's Summary

YOU SENSE HIM

Some refer to it as the Colony. To others, it’s a cult. But few locals in the Oregon coastal hamlet of Deception Bay have ever been invited to the inner sanctum of Siren Song. Even the sisters who live here, far from strangers who might recoil at their unnerving psychic abilities, don’t know all the terrors buried within its walls…

YOU FEAR HIM

Eight months into a surrogate pregnancy for her sister, Kristina, Detective Savannah Dunbar just wants to wrap up paperwork before taking medical leave. But her department’s investigation into a brutal double homicide has suddenly become much more complex — and personal. And now there are disturbing rumors about the Colony, its matriarch, and a long history of bitter secrets...

BUT YOU CAN NEVER STOP HIM

Death has come to Siren Song before. But this time there will be no refuge and no remorse. For everything born in wickedness must die that way — and a killer will not rest until he has claimed them all…

Ouch!

This book must have been written in all caps with a dozen exclamation marks after each sentence. Why else would the narrator read (scream) it that way? I doubt that Marines in boot camp are yelled at that much.

The back story was interesting but the main story, about a crazed serial killer, was "eh"

The narrator ruined the audiobook!

Something Wicked does not include a lot of mystery or suspense, but it is a worthwhile listen EXCEPT Susan Ericksen narrates the book as if excited. I am normally an Ericksen fan, but she was horrid reading this book.

Loved it!

Loved it! This was a great listen. I really loved the series and this book was a great addition to it. I wish I had re-listened to the first two books in the series as it's been years since I listened to them but you can read this without having the prior knowledge of the first two books but it's a great series and even though they bring you up-to-date I always love having all the details.
Each book has it's own great story-line they all have something to do with Siren Song or the group of women who live at Siren Song. Siren Song is a Colony of sorts. It's a family owned lodge/house filled with half sisters and ran by their aunt. Living with little to no contact to the outside world and each having some kind of supernatural power.
I LOVED it. It had me interested from start to finish. Great plot, great character building, great characters and very well written.
The narration was excellent and very fitting for the story. Susan Ericksen did a great job on this book and the whole series.

Fantastic book! I didn't want to stop listening!

Would you listen to Something Wicked again? Why?

I generally don't read or listen to a book a 2nd time but with this one I may have to... Because audible doesn't have books 2 or 3 of this great listen! :/ By the time they have those books I may have to reacquaint myself with the story in order to remember this 1st book of series.

Which character – as performed by Susan Ericksen – was your favorite?

Savy!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

I don't understand how audible/Amazon can have only partial books for a complete series!? Again, this book is amazing and I want to know what happens to Savy & Hale and what happens to good time Charlie! So many unanswered questions because the 2nd & 3rd installments/books are not made available on audible. May have to go back to the old fashioned way and buy those books & read them just so I can get all the answers left unanswered. Had I known that this was one of many I am now seeing, series that are incomplete here on audible, I would not have paid for it.. I would've bought the hard Cover books and read them. I've already sent requests for other incomplete series.. Will be sending this one into audible too. Otherwise this is a fantastic book!

The narrator was AWFUL!!!

I listened to only three hours of this book. I couldn't take anymore!! The narrator's voice was like nails on a chalkboard. If you're thinking of buying this recording, PLEASE listen to a sample of it first. The narrator makes everyone (all the time) sound like their screeching / annoyed / irritable / nasty. It may have been a good story but I'll never know. I did myself a favor by turning it off.

Great story

The story was good, I enjoyed every bit of it
The reader was VERY annoying for about the first 8 hours I eventually did get use to her
I just didn't care for her voice on the characters
If you aren't picky on the readers a great book
If you do have issues with the readers put it aside and you will enjoy the book

Could NOT get into this story.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

No clue.

What could Lisa Jackson and Nancy Bush have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

This story line was all over the place, didn't help that the narrator didn't have any pauses when switching from characters/scenes. Half the time I didn't realize it was a different scene w/different characters til a minute or 2 after hearing it. On top of that she screamed everything & everyone sounded angry at all times. It was incredibly hard to get into this book. By the end I just wanted it to hurry up and be over. I'm not even sure who the "murderer" they were talking about throughout the whole book was when they finally had the reveal, that's how indifferent I had become.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Complete disappointment in this book.
