Great mystery romance - cute and fun!

Audiobook: Narrator – Karen White
This was narrated in such a way that it adds so much more to the story than just the words on my Kindle. Ms. White performs this book and it shows in all the little details she adds through her voice with each character, not just the hero and heroine. She did an amazing job and I found myself re-listening to several of the scenes because of her performance.

This was a great mystery romance with a high cute and fun factor! I wasn’t sure if I’d really connect with Cameron, the heroine, when this first began but I totally did. Despite her job, she was very laid back, and yet completely capable of standing up for herself as well as yielding when the need arose. Jack intrigued me with his undercover past that ended up being the catalyst for so much of this story. His protective instincts thrilled my alpha loving heart.

This has some push and pull, plenty of mystery and drama, and lots of steam. Secondary characters added some hilarious moments while never stealing the show. I found myself listening at times when I usually turn the audio off and pick up my Kindle.

Seven out of ten

This book was fairly entertaining and the characters were interesting. Not a real thriller though.

LOVED IT

Would you listen to Something About You again? Why?

Already listen twice, it has a plausible and believable story.

What about Karen White’s performance did you like?

I don't really like Karen White, there's something about her, she always sounds like she's shaky. However she does a lot better than many other narrators.

Any additional comments?

I have finally found a new author and I love Julie James. If you like Julie Garwood you will love this author. I am going to purchase other books now.

Just OK. Didn’t finish it.

Had high hopes based on reviews. Made it about half way through the book, and realized that I just didn’t care enough about the main character to see how it ended. Good writing and interesting plot, but characters seemed a little flat.

Assertive heroine and sexy, sexy alpha hero

Setting: Contemporary, Chicago
Genre: Romantic suspense
Loved the characters and their history is a good background. They were just getting into an I'm-interested-in-you-in-a-romantic way point in a working relationship when Assistant US Attorney General for Illinois Cameron Lynde did something that caused FBI agent Jack Pallas to go off about her on national TV. The budding mutual interest died on the vine with Jack's anger/hatred and his transfer to Nebraska (can you say hinterlands?). Fast forward 3 years and Jack is back in Chicago and his first case, the murder of an escort associated with a US Senator, involves Cameron as a material witness. The suspense fuels the romance which, in turn, amps the suspense. This is a great combination of likable characters and interesting plot with Karen White's excellent narration. She does both male and female characters well, and she doesn't skimp in the secondary people.

This was worth the credit and time I spent.

I love this book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I brought it as part of a "special deal" and I love it. I really enjoy series and this book is a perfect start. Both characters are strong people. The woman is smart and doesn't need a "man" to complete her. I'm excited to start reading the series.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters and story line. She did a great job on back story's plot. And also on how they get together.

Which scene was your favorite?

When she confesses who actually got him sent to another state and his reaction.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really. Just enjoyable.

Any additional comments?

Already started the 2nd book. If it's as good as this one, I will buy the rest of the series.

very entertaining good sexual tension story a bit

the characters are interesting however they are somewhat of a trope. it seemed to me the ending drag dragged on and the tension would have improved if the action with the bad guys was more prominent. I feel that the main character should have been in more danger to keep it flowing

Cute Snarky Banter

This was a classic cute romantic comedy. Three years ago, Cameron and Jack met when he came out of being undercover back to the FBI with a case against a big mobster in Chicago. Cameron and Jack had heat until her boss made her drop the case and not tell anyone why. Then they had a different kind of heat, which resulted in Jack saying something that caused him to be sent away to podunk Nebraska.

Now that he's back in Chicago and his career looks like it may be back on track, he get's a call and has to interview a possible witness to a murder. When he hears Cameron's name, he thinks he's being punked.

Soon sparks fly, not only from them snarking at each other, but also from the connection. Cameron will have to trust Jack more than anyone else and also tell him what really happened three years ago.

This was a classic meet/cute like an old Spencer Tracy/Katherine Hepburn film. I really enjoyed it. I thought the banter back and forth was sweet and I also liked the mystery.

I did listen to this on audible, and I realize this book is several years old. But, I would have liked it if more than one person was narrating. If they had at least an man doing the male parts, since it was from multiple POV's. Don't get me wrong. The narrator was fine, but I like it when there are different voices for the different characters when there are multiple POV's.

I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.

A fun romance.

If you are looking for a light romance with a bit of danger, this is it. The book has likable characters and a good build up for love. This isn't a love at first sight kind of book and there is only one sex scene towards the end. What I like was how the main characters came together and all the side characters added a bit of comic relief. The mystery part isn't really a mystery since the readers already know who the bad guy is, but I'm suspecting that if you're interested in this book you're not in it for the mystery. I will read the next book in this series. Narrator does a good job, I have enjoyed her work in the past.
